  1. Great report Cliff and nice to be apart of it. A pleasure to meet your brother and his family. (You'll have to teach your brother about getting the entire fish in the photo though. LOL!) As well as seeing the rest of your gang. As much as I enjoyed the fishing, it was a blast to take the kids tubing! Thanks again for the invite!! A great time for sure!

  2. The Lazer procedure that they will likely do is the same that I had for my eyes. Follow the pre-op instructions and get some Tylenol in you before you go. I won't lie to you, it's damn anoying. But better than the alternative. I had several procedures done on both eyes and things have been stable for a feature years now. Hopefully they are addressing this soon. All the best Brian, nice fish!

  3.

What are spreaders? I have never fished for perch but have lots of crappie experience. Is high vis line ok? That's what I have on my crappie poles.

There are 2, 3 and 4 way spreaders that I've seen/used for ice fishing on a tip up. Image in the link http://www.thefishinhole.com/index.cfm?action=product&se=28756

I would also look at using a slip float and drop shot set up as well with at couple of small jigs stacked. I'd ad a clear leader to your high vis line. That's just my preference.

  4. As another option, you could also check out http://curtispointcottages.com/

Will (family business) is a member here and knows the lake pretty well. They rent boats too.

Greg Klatt is a member on the board and might be able to help out as a guide. http://www.profishntanglingservices.com/

For a group that size it will be tough to find anyone one to accommodate your group. Renting a pontoon boat would certainly be an option as Sinker suggested.

For a group that size if the lake is not that important, a couple of charter boats on Lake Ontario would be another alternative. Might find one to take the whole group.

  5. I'm surprised they didn't call you about the transactions.

It's happened twice to me, once for 2 $50 iTunes gift cards - they got my card number from a gas station. I very rarely use the card and it is usually for gas just to let them know I'm still alive. They were going to investigate and I had to sign an affidavit saying that I did not make those purchases. With that card I always got the "you've got a great credit rating and we are increasing your amount on the card". Recently, they sent me a letter stating that they were reducing the amount do to security reasons and if I needed it increased to give them a call. A wise move on their part.

The other time (years later) was that I had made a couple of small online purchases on secured accounts, so I thought. Got a call the very next day asking about my recent transactions. Someone was trying to pay there Rogers account with my card. I was instructed not to make any payments other than the amount I legitimately owed and they would deal with the rest.

Both times I was impressed that they were on it so fast and they treated me quite well. Cards were cancelled immediately and new ones came in a couple of days. Not a big deal for me either time but rather unsettling how these crooks work so fast. Over cautious these days and that likely is still not enough.

I'm sure things will be back to normal for you pretty soon but is a pain in the :asshat: to have to go through this at all.

  6. I got a PM the other day requesting this simple recipe for asparagus and Prosciutto.

Marinate the asparagus in the following, for at least two hours, refrigeration not required. I like to use a zip lock bag to hold everything.

-about a pound of asparagus, washed and dried off

    -1/2 cup of olive oil

    -1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar

-a table spoon of both kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper

-sweet red pepper cut to roughly the same diameter as your asparagus spears

-as much chopped garlic as you like

Combine these ingredients and let sit for at least two hours.

(I sometimes will also add a firm, smoked cheese, again, cut into spears, the same size as the asparagus.) You do not need to marinate the cheese!

Roll three or four asparagus spears (depending on how big they are) with a spear of the pepper and a spear of the cheese in one slice of prosciutto, ensuring that if you are using cheese, that the cheese is in the middle of the roll. Hold it all together with a tooth pic.

Grill the "rollie" at med to high heat, until the prosciutto browns and the cheese is starting to melt. I sometimes will add a cherry tomato onto the ends of the tooth pic to make it look nicer!

I would advise anyone who makes this, to make more than you think you will need as I have NOT had anyone who has tried this, not request more!

Funny story here about this recipe... it was my first ever Quinte GTG with OFNer's and I was sharing a cottage with FishnSled. I made these rollies, along with a steak and some potatoes and FnS just loved it! Next door, Terry, Wayne and I think Dano were sharing a cottage and since I had many left overs, I thought I would offer them to the boys. They loved them as well and I came to learn that Leah had been trying for years to get Wayne to eat asparagus, to no avail.

The first time I met Leah, she congratulated me for getting Wayne to eat it... and I think he really did like it!

Enjoy.... sorry, I don't have a pic for you, but I think some others who I have shared this recipe with in the past, might have some pics!

    HH

I nearly gagged when HH said he brought asparagus that day, couldn't stand the stuff. Who knew that meat makes any veggie taste so good. I've made this several times over the years now, sometimes I just marinate the asparagus and grill it on it's own. Good eats!

  7. that was caught the week after us by a close buddy...he was jigging and had the stick pulled out of his hand....they were trolling in the area a couple hours later they saw the stick....fish was still on,it turned out to be 27 pounds!

Now that is quite the fish story! Awesome!

Looks like a great trip, thanks for the report and pics. :good:
