  1. I watched the global warming video last week and found it very interesting. Like everything else you watch or read, including the news, you have to weigh the facts and make your own judgements. To me, global warming is a reality and more than a cyclical anomoly. North Americans are not going to give up their trucks and SUVs (how would I get my boat to the lake?) and I don't think alternative fuels will be truely developed until fossil fuels are depleated. Unfortunately it is about money and it is very political. Ultimately, Al Gore's documentary was intended to raise awareness and create discussion and it seems to have done that. It is a perspective worth viewing.
  2. I used CarCostCanada: http://carcostcanada.com/1/en/default.asp I took the following from their site. CarCostCanada Wholesale Price Reports include: Retail prices of the base vehicle and all factory installed options selected Wholesale invoice prices of the base vehicle and all factory installed options selected Current advertised Factory Incentive Programs (where available) Current non-advertised Factory Incentive Programs (where available) Local, low-cost, real-time dealer quotes (where available) Standard features of the Model Style selected Manufacture Warranty Transport Canada fuel economy (where available) Remember, there is a price for this service but I found it valuable when I finally got serious and wanted to know what the actual vehicle cost was. I have used them in the past to get a wholesale price that helped when I made the purchase. At lease I knew what the actual price was. Good luck.
  3. Great year end summary Dan. Excellent photography, especially the telephoto shots. You have a good eye for photo composition. The brooktrout pics and the 4 legged ones are great. I remember you taking the photo of the pike head by your foot. Just think...only a few more months of difficult trolling and we'll be back there again creating more memories.
  4. Thanks Spiel: About a week or so before you came up here, Dan mentioned around the camp fire and a few pops he had someone traveling north to fish. Maybe someday we'll hit the same fish'n hole for those famed brookies.
  5. The camera is a Canon S400 but I bought the underwater case for it. All the buttons and camera features work underwater to a depth of 130 ft. If I'm down that deep, I'm not coming back. The camera and case float so no worries dropping it overboard. I can use it in the rain, snow or sand without worry. Just rinse the case under water. I have used it diving on reefs in the ocean and it is great. I think I have attached a photo of me in Cuba feeding the fish. My next camera will have more megapixles but a waterproof case is a must for me. Alan
  6. I've been a member for less than a day and have enjoyed wandering around the forum and rest of the site. Impressive! To Nemo, yes the chemical signature on my fishing hat is: "H2SO4" which stands for Sulphuric Acid. I got the hat from a friend of mine who works at a local mill that uses it. I'm happy other fishermen appreciate the Brook Trout Slideshow. Al (Guidofisherman)
  7. Merry Christmas to the OFC Community. I'm Al (Guidofisherman) and thanks to Dan, a local fishing friend, I have joined when Dan asked to post my slideshow about the Brook Trout. I'm not sure if it is a passion or a sickness, but I love fishing for them. Alan
