  1. Most people don't know this about me.. but I spent about 10 years as an environmental geology consultant that was pro quarry/industry. I managed projects and helped put in pits and quarrys up to 80 million tonnes. While weighing all the checks and balances.. everyone has to remember that these aggregate resources have to come form some where. Projects that large can do damage, but sometimes they are better than 10 smaller projects all doing damage. I think that what most people dont realize is that aggregates are like gold... decent rock/gravel just isnt everywhere. Not just any dirt can go into our nations highways, bridges and house foundations. LOL.. At least I never had to work on a new landfill.... whewwwww....

Not saying im pro quarry here.. but aggregates are like oil.. a finite resource....

You make some good points TJ, but then again you are the guy who walked through the bush in his socks (on purpose) and posted it to YouTube sarcasm.gifrolleyes.gif

My point of view was that I don’t think we have heard the last from Highland on this yet.

  2. Considering the money in farming potatos, I don't imagine they'll stop anytime soon. My wife's cousin is/was a produce grower / distributor. They've been living on a 75' "boat" in the Bahamas, 6 months of the year, for over a decade now... from profits off a property that is IMMENSELY smaller than this one in question.

yup, that would suck. Maybe next year they should work a couple of extra months to be able to afford to get off the boat and onto land clapping.gifrofl2.gif

  3. Nothing stopping them from re-applying for a smaller quarry to get their foot in the area without as much hassle (i.e. environmental assessments, etc.).

Wait to see if they put the land back up for sale or not. That will be a key indicator of future plans, as I doubt they plan on getting into “potato farming“ like they said when they were purchasing the parcels.

  4. Wouldn't mind finding out where to find some episodes as well. I remember watching it with my Dad followed by the show "Wok with Yan" that guy made me laugh.

As for the Izumi production company moving over to Pure Fishing, it's all business and business relationships. I think this is a great move for both companies personally.

  5. Ughh, yesterday I was driving home after running some errends and I was planning on fishing for a bit before the storm hit. I'm turning right on a red, I stop at the corner and make sure the way is clear. There's a transport in the center lane coming up through the light but my lane is clear so I turn and drive about 15-20' in the curb lane while the truck passes me....until he decides he's going to change into my lane without looking in his mirrors. I slam on my brakes but his back right trailor's bumper (which is solid metal) hits the front left side of my truck, bending my fender, ripping my left headlight out, bends my grill in half so it's sticking out. I don't know how he couldn't see me since I turned before he even went through the intersection! He turns down the next road on the right so I followed him thinking he might try to take off but we both pull over off the busy street. He got out and says sorry and admits that it's his fault and he never checked before changing lanes and asks me if I'm going to call the police! I couldn't even open my driver's side door! Of course I'm calling the cops! So 20 minutes later a cop arrives and asks for a quick story, now the truck driver is saying he's in the curb lane all along! If that were the case and I cut him off the front of his truck would have hit me, not the very back of his trailor. I figured by the damage to my truck it's OBVIOUS what happened and the cop would see that my story was right. He gets his information first, then lets the guy leave, I give him my info and he says "You realize you're at fault, right?" I almost lose it! How can I be at fault for driving straight in my lane and someone changing lanes and hitting me?!! I said look at my truck! I explained to him again what happened so the cop starts backpeddling and says "Yeah, I can't in good concious say that you're at fault so I'm going to write nobody is at fault. I can't say anybody is at fault since no witnesses stopped." Even though he was pretty quick to accuse me (probably because I'm young and the other driver was in his 50's). So now it looks like I'm stuck paying the deductable because some idiot doesn't check his mirrors or use turn signals when changing lanes! That cop was so unprofessional, he never even went and looked at where the accident occured (where pieces of my truck were still on the road). He just kept saying "I understand your frustration but I can't say he's at fault without a witness". Apparently you can't solve crimes based on EVIDENCE anymore, and this guy claimed he used to be a traffic collision cop! Honestly?!!wallbash.gif

If you only made it 15-20 feet there is probably a good chance the truck was already in the process of switching into a lane(the one you turned into) that was previously clear. Think you do take some of the blame. Now had you travelled say 50-100 (or more) feet I would have different thoughts.

  6. As a chef have made many stews with scotch bonnets, habaneros, etc. The thing is not to let them puncture or break.

They will flavour nicely and add heat but as soon as they open, break or puncture the food becomes inedible.

These Bhut Jokoia would be similiar, don't cut or puncture unless you like the extremely hot excitement.

Jeez, I miss read that as “extremely hot excrement”

  7. Weapons grade hot pepper, been looking for them in our local greenhouses but never find them. Not sure you will be able to taste the vodka, but that could be a good thing.

  8. smally that might work given enough hands.. it's a fairly heavy pole but you're right, i may be overthinking this. biggrin.gif

crude diagram not to scale, when pole hits opposite wall it pivots, falls into hole and stands
