  1. What is the fee for?
  2. Does the old VIN have to be removed before doing this or afterwords?
  3. Bit of a weird one here. I just sold my old boat as I bought a new used one. Turns out that the VIN# on the ownership for the trailer does not match the VIN# on the trailer itself. When I registered the trailer I just took the ownership given to me to service canada and they gave me plates for it. I never thought to check the VIN#'s to see if they matched. I did a lein search on the boat before buying and everything came back legit with the current owners being correct. Any ideas on what I or the new owner have to do to clear this up? Thanks
  4. 12 Volt system.
  5. Turned out it was a fuse. There were 2, 32 amp fuses back near the battery and one was blown. Hopefully they don't keep blowing! I will have to wait till next weekend to see...
  6. I will check to see if it goes to the console or just straight to the battery. Hopefully I don't have to change out the 8 guage for 6 guage...
  7. So I just installed a new Minn Kota trolling motor plug and receptacle at the bow of my boat. There was already existing wiring and an existing receptacle but I couldn't find the plug to fit it. Everything seemed good but when I went to run it, it ran for literally 2 seconds and then quit. Now all of the sudden there is no power to the receptacle anymore. Would there be an inline fuse installed somewhere between the front and the back of the boat? It's 8 guage wire if that matters. Thanks. Matt
  8. I guess my question really was: Is a marine battery that says just "deep cycle" better than a battery that says "deep cycle/starting" if it is only being used for a trolling motor? Even if the "deep cycle" battery has say 115 Amp hours. And the "deep cycle/starting" has 120 amp hours? As the Costco batteries earlier in this thread show. I recall reading somewhere that this is the case but wanted to be sure.
  9. Just stumbled upon this old thread. Is it better to get the Group 27 Deep Cycle with 750 MCA or the Group 27 Deep Cycle/Starting with 845 MCA if being used exclusively for my trolling motor?
  10. Possibly...what were your main reasons for upgrading? Screen size? Thanks Matt
  11. I'm looking at getting a new finder. I found a Humminbird 598ci HD SI for $600 at a local tackle shop. I have also been looking at the 899 HD SI for $999, cheapest I could find it for at Sail. My question is: Does anyone have experience using side imaging on a 5" screen? Is it worth the extra $400 to upgrade to a 7" unit? Would I be hindering myself in anyway with the 5" screen? Thanks. Matt
  12. So I went to look at a 2001 Lowe tonight. The guy is offering what I consider to be a reasonable price. I'm all but ready to make a deal and my wife comments that the transom is not very high. She is concerned that our 4 year old is going to go flying off the back cause there is no height at the back like our current boat has. Do any of you think this is a legitimate issue? The thought never would have crossed my mind if she hadn't mentioned it. She says she loves the boat otherwise. I've included a couple pictures so you can see what I mean. Any input would be great. Help me convince her to get this boat! Thanks! Matt
  13. Although a new boat with locker storage sounds tempting, I think I will stick to the sound (and free) advice everyone is giving and just continue to bring my stuff up to the trailer nightly. Thanks Guys.
  14. I'm looking for something like this: http://www.stripersonline.com/products/rapala-lock-n-hold-rod-rack I have something like this installed already but I thought there might be something out there that locks so the rods couldn't be removed. Might just stick to knowing they are safe and sound for sure by taking them up to the trailer.
  15. I am looking for a vertical rod holder that locks. Not sure if one exists. We have a trailer in a campground and I store my boat at the communal docks. I would like to be able to keep my rods in the boat overnight instead of bringing them up to the trailer every night. Any one have any ideas? Thanks, Matt
  16. Just wanted to update this thread. I went into Le Baron today and they replaced the rod. The manager asked what happened and then gave me a new top piece free of charge. I was really pleased after hearing so many negative things about Le Baron and their return/exchange policies. So far I have had nothing but positive experiences at their Ottawa location. Matt
  17. Thanks. I have the receipt and from what I have found online worst case scenario is I would have to ship it back to shimano and they would replace it. Depending on the retailer they may replace it over the counter. It's good to know that they replaced it in store at Le Baron's.
  18. I bought a new pair of Compre's 2 weeks ago from Le Baron. Tonight I hit the lake and I go to set up one of the rods and as I'm pulling some line through the guides to tie a jig on the top 6 inches of the rod breaks off. Had the drag really loose too! Anyhow, just wondering if anyone has any experience exchanging a shimano rod with a lifetime warranty at Le Baron? Should they just swap it out for a new one as it has only been 2 weeks? Thanks Matt
  19. Hey Glen, Just wondering if you had a chance to try out your ladder? I am thinking of getting one to install on my boat and just wanted to make sure it supports a half decent amount of weight and you can actually get out of the water with it. Thanks Matt
  20. Funny you should mention the navionics for iPad cause I bought the one for iPhone about a month ago. There are a couple of issues for me with this situation. I bought the humminbird specifically because it had the GPS functionality as I already have a fish finder albeit a cheaper unit. Also I got the 385ci on clearance for $229 marked down from $425 and it is not returnable and says so right on the receipt. So I think I am going to keep it and shell out the $150 at some point and just get the navionics hotmaps. Thanks again, Matt

  22. I picked up a Humminbird 385ci today. Long story short, there are maps of the US (roadways and lakes) but there is nothing for Canada. It shows the country and where you are but thats about it. Does anyone know if there is anyway to get maps of any kind on there for Canada without having to shell out 150 bucks on the Navionics? I have a trailer on Lake Kashawakamak and pretty much fish that lake exclusively, so it seems like a waste to get maps for the whole country when I only need one lake. I'm just wondering if there is anyone else who has had a similar experience and what they did. Thanks, Matt
  23. I have heard this before somewhere and I didn't know there was any truth to it. Sounds like the most economical solution. Thanks!
  24. My wife and I have been using the Berkley Gulp 4" Minnows with great success this year. One major problem we've been having is that they start sliding down the jig head 4 or 5 casts (sometimes less) after rigging them up. Does anyone have any advice on how we could rig them differently to keep them on the jig head better or a different way of rigging them with a hook and weight? Thanks, Matt
  25. Just wondering what other members are using to charge their deep cycle batteries. I'm in the market for a new charger. Anyone use the Noco Genius line of chargers? A friend of mine has a nautilus and seems to like it quite a bit. I'm not looking for an on board and trying to spend around $100. Thanks, Matt
