Yup. I drool watching the youtube vids from out there . They also walk miles to just get to great spots.

It's been a bucket list thing to learn to fly fish and hit the streams. There are none around here so it wasnt much an option.

I'm told certain areas are just packed, so in really looking forward to trekking through the bush to find gold. I'm super excited. If I remember correctly,  you used to post alot of those types of treks and I was always in awe.

What better way to get exercise and fresh air.

I'll probably twiddle away to nothing also hiking the hills in search of deer and elk too. Looks like one heck of a workout!

And so here are a couple pictures from today.  Brussels sprouts are NOT on offer.....  😄

My latest batch of smoked cured side bacon (made from pork bellies) turned out mighty awesome:

And it turns out that an older lady who is a friend of my wife, really likes the soup I sent her when she was feeling a bit down.  She bakes her own sourdough, and has a friend who keeps free-range hens.  BONUS!!!!

Well, m2b2, I actually had pan-fried WALLEYE for supper tonight!  😁

Youngest son called me this morning, a buddy of his had caught three nice walleye but did not have time to fillet them because he had to go to work.  Would I like them?  HELL YES!!!!!

Three lovely eater size walleye, I froze three fillets for later and cooked the other three fillets and the six cheeks for supper.  OMG!!!!!😋

    Doug

Glad you finally got a feed!!!!!

I've been having fun exploring other ways to eat walleye. But.....I'm kinda in the mood for a good old fry walley, beans, corn, frybread and panfries now

LOTS of rods and reels.  Access to keeper walleye, not so much.  I don't care for Bay of Quinte walleye, and the slot limit on the back lakes seriously restricts what a person can keep.......most fish caught are over the slot limit.  About a two pound walleye or bigger goes back into the drink.  Nice eaters aren't eaters around here.  Thankfully, we have good numbers of decent perch!  And crappies, bluegills, pumpkinseeds, and bass....................I am never hurting for a feed of fish, but I sure have a hankering for a feed of walleye!

Ah I hear ya shag! I really only keep 14-17", even then I prefer on the smaller side

I'll pass, you can have mine M2B2. To tell you the truth I don't like Deer anymore. I did once but had some fresh last year and I didn't like it at all. Tastes change I guess. I'm even off the beef and bird lately.

    JD out.

That's too bad! I spose it does however

I got the same macina in the will. I am afraid to use it as machinery and me do not go well together. I also inherited a sausage machine Dad made. He actually made one for each of us 3 sons. Mine sat for years until I got brave and decided to plug mine in. On about the 2nd pound of pork shoulder the drive shaft broke. I could see a tiny weld repair where it broke and very tight grain where the steel didn't harden enough. I took it to the lab at work and they confirmed a micro fisher where it snapped. I had it welded but am afraid to use it. It's more than a thing that turns big pieces of meat into tiny pieces of meat. I think I will wait a few years and hand it down to my nephew.

Rick, good to see you back. Out for good behavior and time served? That might be funny but there was a guy missing from The Buffalo Bill discussion forum for 18 months and that was exactly where he was, Erie County lock up. Rick we are close enough that you can take some criticism from me, I hope. That dirty perch with green olives on it doesn't look appetizing at all, sorry.

On a positive note, 35 days not a single puff of a cigarette actually not a puff of anything.

    JD out.

Lol for sure bro.  But its walleye. And yes it looks like crap, I'd agree.  But the flavor says otherwise lol
