Looking to buy a new hunting jacket and pants (prefer bibs style). Does anyone have any recommendations on what they prefer? Hoping to get some gortex.
I will be using it in the winter as well as during turkey hunts in spring/fall.

My brother bought a one piece set by "Under Armor" last year...they are not waffled and cost around $100 but he claims they unbelievably warm and worth every penny. $100 for underwear seems a little high to me, but he keeps insisting I give them a try.
+1 for Under Armor. Had it for 3 seasons so far. Great buy.

Looking for suggestion..
I just completed my hunting course about 2 months ago..went to Licensing office and got my combined fishing and hunting temporary card (they took my fishing card)..they told me my new card should arrive within 2-3 months. on my temporary paper I have both fishing and hunting stickers that expire at the end of this year. Should I just go online and get three year fishing + hunting + card?
thanks

Flashers are the real deal when it comes to ice fishing.I have tried to use a lcd unit and can't stand the delay.Flashers are real time thats no bull!
'delay'? another fairy tale/myth I used Marcum LX-5, Vex FL-18 and now own Lowrance X67C and find it by far better for me. I prefer graph.

Great essay Mike! I see that you are using Tim's floats I like them as well.

I scraped some brown roe lastnight, let it dry a bit then put it right in the freezer.
If you plan on tieing it up in the next few days then you can leave it in the fridge, if not I'd put it in the freezer.
I see, thanks

Hey Bill/Mike,
I've finally got some Brown Gold few days ago I've cured it with some pickled salt/brown sugar mix and it's now in my fridge (mason jar). Can I leave it there since it's cured or should I freeze it?
thanks

Did you get that Benelli Nova?

I used D-back for some fresh chinnies and was able to turn and land them pretty successfully. I've fished same rivers with Frontier MX and D-back feels so much crispier. IMO.

Hard to go wrong with a Raven IM8. A great performing rod at a pretty good price ($200-$250 depending on whether you get sliding rings or a reel seat). As others have said, the Aventa might not be the right rod for you. It has a slow/sloppy feeling more akin to rods of the 80's and early 90's which were designed to handle ultra-lite leaders and mainlines. Definitely better rods out there to choose from for this day and age.
Hey Fidel
Most blanks nowadays are lighter and crisper than the GSH 1136-3.LOL That blank was developed back in the early 90's and is based on the old RP taper. It's a beautiful rod nonetheless with a pretty sweet action. If you like the feel of the Sage, play around with the 13'6" Diamondback that Tom had custom made for him (It's a private label blank). It still has the same moderate/parabolic action but it's lighter, less tip heavy with a crisper action than the Sage - Only thing is I'm not sure what the warranty is like. I absolutely love mine.
Fidel, I got 13'6 Diamondback and 13' Loomis IMX and honestly switch between two all the time Next one is 15' GLX for the big water
As for the OP, find used rod like Raven IM8 or new Quantum Coldwater or Shimano Converge. Good luck.
