I want to take the boy out ice fishing on Lake Wilcox and was looking for a topographic chart/map of the lake, so that we would know where the drop offs were and what would be the best place to fish. Anyone know where to find a topographical chart or map of Lake Wilcox in Richmond Hill? Or, anyone know where would be the most productive spot on the lake to ice fish? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

I just came back from the boat show and can't make a decision. I am trying to decide between the Lund Impact and the Explorer Sport. Any thoughts from the members here. Other than the 20 foot version the specs seem to be the same between the Lund Exp 1825 and the Impact 1875. I really can't decide. If you have any pros and cons for either, let's hear them. How do you know that the title is clear on the boat and/or the trailer. I figure if the bank loans money to finance a boat, they take the title to all three. Correct me if I am wrong. Therefore, when I pay off the loan at the bank, I get clear title for all three? I am off to google to see what I can find on importing boats. Hi Guys, I have an opportunity to buy a boat in the USA, but I have heard some horror stories from friends about bring the boat and trailer over the boarder. So, if anyone has some advice on how to do this with the least amount of problems, please post your information, advice or experience here. I have the seller getting a compression test at the dealer and he has already told me that he owes money at the bank. So, I will meet him during the week and attend at the bank to pay of his loan. If there is anything that I am missing, please let me know. Thanks.

Great replies, and thank you. So, at what time does service have to happen? I ride dirt bikes and there is a time when you just have to do mandatory replacements on the motor. I was wondering if the same applies to boat motors. My question is, other than regular maintenance (plugs, oil and gear case), is there an amount of hours on a motor that will require expensive replacements? Or, is it on a "as needed" basis? Thanks.

Anyone have the name and telephone number of a reputable shipping company that can ship a boat (no trailer) from northern Ontario to Toronto? I have searched the internet and called several shipping companies, and they all seem like this is the first time that they would be shipping a boat. Otherwise, is there anyone with a trailer around Thunder Bay, that wants to bring a boat to Toronto for me. LOL

I agree 100%. BUT, what do you do when you find a good deal, but the boat is just too far away to test drive. I think I have to obtain a compression test from a reputable marina, in the area and then have it shipped. Otherwise, I am limited in the boats that I can purchase, to the boats that I can drive to inspect. Thanks everyone.

Okay NEXT QUESTION. What is considered too many hours on a used motor. Is it 100 hours, 200 hours or more. In my search for a used boat, I have looked at boats and their motors have 350 hours. Is that a lot of hours? Will I have to replace the top end at 400 hours? How many hours on the motor should I be looking at? With a boat with a lot of hours, is there anything that I should be asking for? As always, thanks for any advice.

As I am looking for a USED boat, the question came up as to what motor I should be looking at. The boat I am considering is a Lund Explorer 1825 Sport. I like this boat for the walk-through windshield and the rod storage. NOW, the question is that I have been able to find the boat with either a 115 Yamaha, a 90HP Honda, and all kinds of Mercury engines. I have been leaning towards the 115 Yamaha. Its a 4-stroke and apparently very reliable. I see them on boats at fishing lodges, so assume they are the better motors. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK, would be the best motor for a Lund 1825 Explorer Sport? Also, I live in Richmond Hill, Ontario and would like to find a dealer that will let me walk around the boats, but my closest dealer has NO STOCK. Any place that has stock so that I can see and touch the boats? I think there are boats at the cottage show this weekend in Toronto. Anyone know if LUND has a booth?

Thanks. I would buy in Canada, but the vendors are asking too much money. Don't worry about supporting the Canadian economy, I will still have to pay the HST and customs when I bring it over the border. Remember, I am looking for a used boat, not a new one. Yeah, I was emailing Jeff, but he sold his boat before I could get out to Courtice. What is the "best deal I'd seen", that you mentioned? I keep on looking, but would like members comments on the best US State to buy a boat. I thought Minnesota would produce good results, seeing as Lund is based there, but not the case!!!! I just check and Maple does not have any used boats on their web-site. I have been checking Michigan on eBay. So far craigslist has the most hits and Kijiji in Toronto. But, some of the prices are really high.

I am interested in buying a 17 foot or 18 foot Lund, Explorer Sport or similar. I live in Toronto, Ontario and all my buddies are telling me to go to the US to buy a used boat, as the prices are cheaper. So, I have been looking at boats in the US and have the following question. What State/City is the cheapest place to buy a boat. I have notice that Florida is a cheap state to buy a boat, but I can't drive all the way to Florida. If anyone knows any web site (other than craigslist) I would appreciate hearing about that as well. Thanks.
