  1. i own a 2wd with the 2.9 auto and it replaced a 4.3 sonoma.

i am towing a 18 alaskan with aluminum floor , 50 honda and 50ltr tank. i dont know what it weighs but it is probably close to yours. you do not have to tow in third like the old sonomas as long as the trany is not hunting. with my boat that means i can tow at 100kph cruise except on hills, towing my sled i can do 115kph.

the truck will take 5 ltrs more fuel then a sonoma but has far better fuel economy then the 4.3 when towing at 100kph. not towing the truck smokes the 4.3 for fuel economy. the truck will drive 584km on 53 ltrs. that was doing 115kph manitoulin to parry sound 130kph from there to 9 highway then stop and go on the 400hwy.

it does not have the nuts the 4.3 did. you are not going to stomp on it and pass someone like you could with the 4.3.

Are you talking about the Ford Escape or the Colorado? Thanks.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at getting a new truck. I currently have a S10 4x4 which is nearing 400,000 k's. It's been a great truck, but it's old and I'm getting killed on gas. I'm looking into getting a colorado/canyon. 4x4 is a must; I really like the z71 models. They have the inline 5 cyl. and a 4 cyl., not interested in the 8 cyl.

My boat is a 167 Princecraft pro with weight in total (including motor, battery etc.) a max of 1100 pounds. Would a 4 cyc. Colorado be able to tow my boat?

I'm really trying to limit my gas money - like everyone else.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  3. Bancroft is a very good bass area. Your best bet is to pick up a map from the MNR on HWY 28. They have a map that lists all the fish in the different lakes throughout the area. It is primarily a bass area, not too many walleye or pike in the area with the exception of Baptiste Lake and its connecting lakes. Use the map to find smaller lakes off old logging rods and you will do very well for bass.

  4. I was in a similar situation last year looking for a combo unit that wouldn't break the bank. After a lot of research I decided on the Lowrance Elite 5 - Gold. This is a gps/sonar combo. You have the option of purchasing the unit with a navionics card, but I decided not to get one. The unit has a base map with it for the Lake Erie which I fish the most. The base map is pretty good. I'm very happy with the unit. The total cost was around $550. This is a very good price for a solid combo unit.

    Hope that helps !

  5. Hey Guys,

Looking into getting a spinning rod specifically for senkos. Preferably I'd like a bit of a longer rod and medium/heavy.

I've been looking at a St. Croix Avid, Shimano Compre or a mid-range Loomis rod.

Any suggestions on what you like? It will be paired with a Stradic.
