  1. Hey Crowman

Just curious you said youve been in Oakville for 50 years and been down to sting pike and whatever else how is it that i have never crossed paths with you at some point what was your hang out

if you saw a black tinny at some point with shark jaws painted on it trolling the rivers and later on a white starcraft rough area where you live would be helpful but not necessary just curious i cant really tell what you look like in your profile picture

    cheers

    Peter

  2. I heard about the Ban

I can guarantee you I will fish from shore if I do ever come back that way in the summer.

Ill take the hit for it as, an OG Brontonian its my heritage right, %&$*em !

the picture is in the cove between the ramp and the bridge on the ice

you can still slide in with the boat

yes trout in july there has been a couple good runs over the years

So where does Joe and Smitty and the Newfie fish now????

    Cheers

    Peter

  3. Just in case you are wondering there should be no boats in there now they would have been all pulled you will need to check(recon)

the other time to go there 2 weeks to the day ice comes out

the water is federal to the bridge fair game it’s a navigable waterway

dont forget the smallies consistent footballs

    Good Luck!

  4. Greetings from the Coast

i dont do this but here it is anyway.
seems to be a lot of guys with tinnies in the Gta just starting out. Now what I’m going to tell you works best on Clearwater days specifically this time of year I’m going to share with you a gator spot that is off the hook husky jerks work really well trick is to get along the bottom and you will be able to see the lure and the fish come in to strike electric is favourable but not necessary you can use a paddle to probe around. There are many places just like this all over the area.

as a bonus some “very large”smallies

    so without further adoo

    enjoy if you dare

Better tell all the salmon guys running dipsys and the muskie guys they're wasting time knowing what depths their baits are running at lol.

Although I guess if all you do is dunk worms under a float, you wouldn't have a use for one.

I hate still fishing really! I have attention issues

and if have have to screw around counting and playing scientist it takes the rawness out of it and the shine comes off

ive fished salmon on the big o for 50+ years and never used a line counter on a reel. planner boards, dipsies and all manner of salmon thingies just not my bag or a tool I would even remotely find interesting

    to each their own

    pass on the counter!

Wow, what eating you? Line counters real can be real handy for trolling for numerous species. A lot more accurate that coloured  mono trolling line. I've used them lots for copper line trolling too for Lakers.

I’ve only ever used a counter on a down rigger never on a reel

absolutely no conceivable reason for me to ever do that.

im not the greatest fisher in the world but I can put a lot in a boat.

    it’s just me

Does the solenoid click/ make a noise when you try to start it

I would check to see it there is a fuse in line for the smaller wire on the solenoid

you can bypass or jump the solenoid, run booster cables to the start and see if that turns it over

Any time I get dead power like you describe---9 times outta 10 in my life it's been a ground issue

Make sure your ground connections on both ends are clean and not corroded.

Bad grounds can drive ya crazy

You can also check to see if the kill switch is engaged. (Safety switch usually connected to your wrist)

How'd you make out with the Hurricane Pete, radar maps seemed having it hit you pretty well head-on.

no worse then a bad winter day Lew   all reality we dodged a bullet, if it had of come in as a 2 3 or 4 we would have got a serious beating. It came in on the flood tide and washed out some stuff.  Good practice for the nor' Easter season

Anyone have one? If so I would love to hear what you think of it. I need to do something for this winter, I just got a quote of $750.00 to do my driveway and path for this winter and they only come if there is 3+" of snow. Gas ones are a pain to store and service, corded ones are not practical for my place as I would need about 100+' of wire. Battery powered seems like it might be a good option.

no electric for me i just bought one of these used for the coming seasons

When I was a kid and then my own kids after me would go door to door asking if they wanted their driveway shoveled and that's how we made our extra spending money.

No kids in your neighborhood looking to make some extra cash Cliff ?

i tried to talk the kids into it...…   but I did the neighbor on either side and the one across the street lots of treats and food all the time open the door and always a surprise

made alot of money as a kid walking around with a shovel
