  1. If ur going for a couple days (camping) I find it very helpful to have pre-cooked meals ready to go frozen in the freezer, especially helpful when hunting, just need to warm them up and ur ready, I like to eat well while camping and some meals take a long time to prepare and cook, which if u come in late and get up early I'm not in a real mood spend slot of time cooking, a wood stove or the Coleman ovens they have now are great,

  2. I've had most luck at sundown till about midnight, later than that I find the bite really dies off,

Always had best fishing trolling raps and bombers over deep water, very slowly, just enough to get a little wiggle out of it

Best night was 12 pickerel between 4 and 7 lbs in a hour n a half span, we were even catching them while letting our line out

Best producing bait for me this tear have been Tennessee shad husky jerk and baby pike bomber

  3. I guess I'm not explaining myself clearly, sultan road is open to the public for Ramsey and biscotti and the likes but if ur intention is to access a tourism lake this road is off limits to you

Anyway thanks all especially solo for the honest and civil discussion, I'll leave it at that, I think we're going in circles and I find it difficult to say what I mean through a keyboard, all I ask is anybody who cares about the issue in the slightest bit to inform themselves before it's too late

    Thx

  4. So why don't we close simcoe and rice and the muskokas to public access, you want to access walk to ur cottage or pay a lodge to go, otherwise tough, the lodge is losing money on ur free for all, close all boat launches, beaches, parks, heck it's for the good of the fishery can't u see that,

A little extreme but sane principle, except it's not actually happening in most people's "neck of the woods" out of sight out of mind I guess

  5. You are right in that some roads are still open for public access for other use, but not all including the one we used, closed, period, no ifs ands or buts,

Sultan road IS closed for access to the tourism lakes ( rice, rush, pebonishewi etc.) which means to legally access these areas I must parc at the watershed stop, and walk or bicycle in.

Again outfitters are not the issue, the government giving exclusive rights to the outfitter is the issue, why can't we co-exist, without these rules I for one would not be fishing these lakes,

This is the beginning of our recreational rights being stripped away from slowly but surely, if they pass the rules they are proposing for the wars area (see roy's link in another thread) there will be a buffer zone of 2 miles around these lakes that you will not be allowed to access,

This is just the beginning folks, open your eyes before it's too late and your vacation to the north is a thing of the past

  6. Also most may not realize that these lakes/ roads/ trails are not just off limits for the fisherman

The are off limits to all fisherman hunters, atvers, berry pickers, photographers, etc.

Any access of these areas by motorized vehicle( except plane) is prohibited, even though u may never be anywhere near the lake in question, sometimes up to 50 kms away

  7. I can only speak for this " meat hunting local" as you call it,

Int experience you r incorrect, I've only started fishing these no access lakes for about 5 years, ever since I heard about these laws, it was for the sole purpose of " ur not going to tell me where I can and cannot go" in my experience slot of these lakes are worst for fishing than most in the north ( unless u like catching countless hammer handles a a good nber of tiny pickerel). Although I have hit some great ones

Unfortunately I think u missed the point again and are making ur own conclusions on our thoughts

I'm sure you know to access these lakes is not an easy feat, if I was out for the purpose of meat hunting there are easy and more often than not better lakes to fish, our acts of civil disobedience is nothing more than trying to being the issue to the forefront, because is gettingworse and worse as the days go by,

Sorry for the spelling, my fat fingers on an iPod don't mix well

  8. Sorry by the last one not meant to offend, but I think you get what I mean, maybe different cause it's in a park or maybe just special circumstance for that lake, but we were arrogantly told by the mnr if we wanted to fish there to buy our own plane and we could do what we wanted,

I'm glad you're bringing ur wife in anyhow, it's discrimination plain and simple

    Sorry again

  9. I was at the rally in the article, unfortunately the press didn't get the whole issue, the reason we accessed this lake was in support of the local trapper, he'd had that line since before the outfitter was on the lake, few years back he received a letter that if he chose to continue his trapping he would have to do so by foot,

The mnr then went in and cut about 50 trees down onto his trail so he couldn't use it, his trail was then deemed decommissioned, some of these trees were giant white pines,

So Saturday we went in with chainsaws and worked over 2 hours to clear his trail and subsequently access the lake so he can set his STILL LICENCED trap line, we went in with firwood permits and hauled all the wood out,

We were ambushed in the bush by 8 mnr officers and 2 opp officers, we were each questioned extensively with video cameras in our face, then there were another 5 mnr officers and 1 opp officer waiting on the lake, they said they would not lay charges that day as there were too many of us, they one year to formally charge us,

The only person to physically access the lake that day was the trapper, the rest of us waited on shore for him, mnr proceded to tell us that we were in violation as we accessed the lake with our eyes and cameras

I can go on and on but you really have to experience it to believe it, a real shame

I'm all for outfitters, but to treat them differently than you or I is unacceptable, I am an Ontario born citizen and pay my taxes like the next person, I am not a second class citizen

Btw, anybody with a plane is free to access thes lakes, not just outfitters, I guess money talks, and the average person walks,

  10. was very informative, a great time and met and worked with some great people. i recommend anybody who gets a chance to participate in future rallies to do so as this should be a very important issue to anybody who enjoys the outdoors, not only for those of us who live in northern ontario, btu anybody who has spent time or plans to spend time, it was very eye opening at the lenghts the MNR and OPP went to enforce these "laws" on our trip

  11. my old man worked underground and had access to lots of lead ingots, i got a couple battery boxes full, made a melting pot that i put on a one burner coleman stove and a pouring ladle with a 1/8" hole at the end for clean pouring, makes it easy as pie,

i also use powder paint, best thing since sliced bread, lol, but long, i havent got any tricks for that, I simply heat individualy over a candle a few seconds then dip and presto, painted jig, you MUST bake them to get a durable finish

gaspumper, whats a fluid bed? hard to make? any pics?

  12. mad props to hominik for sticking it out with his brains on his forehead, gross, great finish for him but too little too late, aldo was done, like a mannequin,

if someone on top of me is leaking that much i would try harder to keep my mouth closed lol

  13. I would like Boston and Chicago to win so I am not forced to root for either canadian team that I don't give a rats ass about... Remember when the Sen's were "Canada's team" hahaha

nobody's forcing u to cheer for anyone, feel free to cheer for any "american team", if u can find one, you must of misspoke, im pretty sure if u check the rosters, boston's one of the most "canadian" teams around, not so much for vancouver or montreal. so i think what you meant to say was "I hope Vancouver or Montreal wins" i'm sure the teams appreciate ur support and so do the rats ass'

  14. the snow weighing down the ice a little so some water has surfaced maybe, i know we see this alot close to the end of the season around here, once you drill you're hole water comes up and doesn't go back down sometimes flooding ur area,

    just a theory
