  1. I think you're right on with your issue....

Fine to broadcast that, just give fair warming, so the listener can decide if they (or who ever is riding with them) wants to hear what is about to shared. I think it may be harder to do during a normal type of news cast, but if it's a news program with different segments, then they should.

I listen to NPR here (National Public Radio), and if they do a segment on something that may not be suitable for younger listeners, they give a warning.

Protecting my childern from the world is doing them an injustice, but wherever possible, I'd like to have some say in the initial level and degree to which they are exposed to the things of this world. I appreciate when things like that come up, because as a parent it may open a door for a conversation I would have a hard time opening myself.

All that coming from a guy who has a 3 1/2 and 18 month old with another due in June. I haven't had to have a lot of those conversations, but enough (death of a family member, neighbor, pet, etc.), that I have an idea about how I'd like some other BIG conversations that are coming to go (dating, sex, drugs, freinds influence, etc.)

Some really good response here, too!

  2. I never got to fish w/ my paternal grandpa, but I wish I had....I really miss him!

Here are some pics of my maternal grandpa. 74 and still going strong...he loves to fish all summer for bluegills, and loves his 17' Jayhawker poles:

I don't have any pics of fishing with my dad as it's been 16 years since we've done that, but I will have pics in a few months after our day on the water in April.

    Great thread!

  3. My grandpa who passed away in 1995 & John Gierach....

I'm lucky enough to have a day on the water with my dad coming up in April. We're going on a guided musky fishing trip. It will be my first time in a boat with him since June 1991 when we spent a week on Daisey Lake, flying out of Wawa with Hawk Air.

  4. Got a week planned for Fushimi Lake PP in late August. Other then that, it will be lots of day / weekend trips for panfish and bass. Maybe a steelie weekend in Michigan in the spring, and one in the fall for Kings...

Oh, I've got a day in April where my Dad & I are going out with guide for Musky on Lake Webster (in N. Indiana)

Hopefully a day with Whopper on Hamilton Lake........

  5. Don't think it will work either.....UNLESS....they get rid of the $1 paper note.

The only time a coin will work is when there is no paper option...as long as the paper is here, no coin is going to work. I wish it would, I'm much rather have the coin....

  6. Not as much here in N. Indiana, but we had just over 10" (25 cm), and a 35mph wind for almost 14 hours straight....got nasty pretty quick.

Everything was shut down Wednesday, and most things are back today. But some of the Rural roads are still a bit tricky!
