  1. I have not been able to get out fishing at all this year. However had a couple hours today so my son Carter and I went down to a local creek for some fishing fun.

Carter asked me this question when we first started casting out. "Daddy, do you know what I love about fishing?" I asked what is that buddy. He said "that i get to be with you!!!!" Ok so talk about melt your heart kind of moment.

Here he is ready to catch some fish.

When he says we have to cut the fish, it is because I was getting a little fishing tackle box ready at home this morning and he was asking about the sword(fillet knife) in my fishing tackle box. I told him that is for when we eat the fish we catch. Pretty cute how he tries to flip it back in the water haha

Sorry we did not actually get a good pic of the fish. you catch a glimpse of it on the video. Little rocky. Bad camera man i know!

Here is Carter doing his happy dance after we let the fish back in the water.

After on the way home. I asked him what his favorite thing about fishing is, expecting to get the same answer before about being with you daddy.... He said "catching fish Daddy" Haha oh well that is kids for you!

We had a great couple hours before the rain started to fall.

    Cheers!

  2. we have seen alot more of hall because of memeriol cups, world juniors. He is an amazing talent. They both are. It is really hard to pass over hall even though he played on a better team and is an older 18 year old. I think I would in the end take hall but can you really go wrong with either these kids? i think both will play next year.

  3. I too havent been on that much, Busy with work and my wife starting her own business. through in a 4 year old boy that needs attention and I understand life gets in the way of our fun fishing lol

  5. lots of pike in muskoka, Most likely they will be deeper this time of year. To be honest with you though, if you are fishing on the weekend----good luck, the lake is the recrealtional capital of cottage country and its a zoo, with all the boat traffic, personal water craft etc..... you would be better off to fish it during the week when although its still busy its more relaxing.

My suggestion would be to enjoy taboo its a kick butt track and save the fishing for another time

    Cheers!

  6. I had a problem catching pike deep as well before on lake nipissing. What i did is find where the shallow water drops into deep water and fish that drop off. What I found in this particular spot was that the pike where holding deep but coming up shallow to feed. (took me 2 years to figure this spot out lol) I used Red and White daredevils, this worked great everytime. One 2 hour outing to a favorite spot produced 10 pike from 24 to 36 inches. It was a great couple of hours!

Now the daredevil spoon may not go as deep as 30 feet on its ow so you might need a way to get it down deep but I found i concentrated on the shallower part of structure because that was where the fish where coming up to feed and the ones down deep where not feeding as actively. Most of the fish i got into where in 10-12 feet of water.

    Cheers!

  7. Because of working like 70 hours a week I have not been out on the water yet GRRRRR however anyone I have talked with have said the same thing. Especially in the north. The walleye bite has been slow compared to a record year last year. It makes sense to blame it on the weather. Last year water levels where higher, water was colder, this year its complete opposite. April first we had high 20 low 30s degree days which melted ice up north way faster then then normal years, i believe most spawns are triggered by water temperture. So it makes sense that we are 3 or 4 weeks ahead of a normal year and fish maybe in there summer locations already.

Even when the bite is tough, it just means you may have to work for it a bit more. What i always do and always tell others to do is to go spend some money at the local bait shops. They always know how to get on fish even in tough times. They love your busienss and want you to catch fish so you will come back They are your best bet to find fish unless of course you want to dish out the cash for a guide

    Cheers!
