  1. Hi all, Just wondering when the trout run is ussually at its best in the Thames River. I've heard there are rainbows and browns, but have only seen the former. Also, what should I use? I just moved up from the Maritimes about a year ago and the fishing techniques here are quite a bit different than home. Any advice would be greatly appreaciated!
  2. One of the carp from Oct 31
  3. Oct 31: Landed two carp in about 2 hrs, both around 3-4lbs Nov 2: Landed two carp, lost many more. One larger fish, i would guess around 8 lbs. Lots of Carp biting here in London!
  4. Lots of good fishing in Nova Scotia. Aside from the salmon you'll be hard pressed to find anything as big as a pike. great trout fishing though. The Cornwallis River in the Annapolis valley is good for browns, Baddeck, Middle and Margaree rivers in Cape Breton have rainbows, brookies and salmon. Grand Lake (not far from Halifax) has a good mix of everything. Chain Pickerel are everywhere now unfortunately, but you cam have an ok time catching them. Almost every lake around Halifax/Dartmouth has smallies and chains, and a few have landlocked salmon. If you get bored and want some steady fishing, walk down to point pleasant park in the south end of the city and take the path out onto the pier. While I was writing my masters thesis I had more than one great evening of fishing for cod, pollock and herring. Cheers
  5. I walked the Thames for a bit this morning, and saw a few carp. The river is high and muddy though. I've been seeing a lot of carp laying dead on the shore since the big storm the other night. Is this just from fisherman throwing them aside as 'garbage' fish, or could the heavy rain over the last few days have caused this?
