  1. Thanks for the info, but i just found out that my father in law set everything up already. All I have to do is show up with my gear. Hope I can come back and share some pictures.
  2. I will be in Trenton at the family in laws for a few days after Christmas and was thinking of starting off the ice fishing season in style. Just wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction as to where I can rent a hut around Trenton. I guess I should also add the most important question- is there enough safe ice out there yet? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks everyone. I ended up finding a new 40lb Motorguide still unopened for $300.
  4. Does anyone know of a place where I can pick up a used 12v bow mount, preferably a minnkota, before the weekend and in southern ontario? I've looked around here, kijiji, bigfatbass....with no success. Thanks in advance.
  5. The brands vary a lot in quality. I've tried many and IMO found that Sufix outperforms them all.
  6. Smallmouth on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound.
  7. Wow, nice pike. Always love reading your reports. Keep it up.
  8. Thanks for input guys. I'm looking at a 4 panel lockable hard cover right now. They want $1200 for it. Ouch, didn't know they were that expensive, but it seems more convenient than the fiberglass 1 piece cover that they want a $100 more for.
  9. Anybody know a good place around Guelph to buy a hard tonneau cover and other accessories for a 2006 Ranger. I don't even know if a hard tonneau is the best option, but I'm looking for something to keep my rods and equipment locked up safe in the bed and be able to remove the cover without too much hassle.
  10. 1/2oz. Rat'L'Trap either in crayfish or perch pattern.
  11. Don't hesitate, you'll like them. I bought a 5'6' Okuma Ultralight combo from First Choice in Guelph an love it. I've caught plenty of good size bass and several large pike on it without worries. The first day I took it out I caught a couple nice size largemouths with it, including these two. I'd tell you what model I bought specifically , but the rod is in my car. I'll update tomorrow if your interested.
  12. I forgot I had these pictures on my computer. I know this report is very late, but i thought you guys might enjoy it regardless. All the perch were caught at a private pond on a jig with white twister tail. The largest one was 13"+ and 9" girth.
  13. Caught it on a 1/2 oz. Rat-L-Trap. I'm pretty sure he chased it down, but can't be sure because it hit the lure about 40 feet from the boat.
  14. Thanks for the replies. The fish was healthy as far as I could tell. It was very aggressive while fighting it, eyes were clear and it was fairly chunky.. The red on its belly in the third pic is just the reflection of a red tackle bag that was sitting in front of me.
  15. I was fishing in the Magnetawan on Monday and caught this very odd looking smallmouth. Never seen anything like it before. Has anybody caught one like it or know what causes the spotting?
  16. Nice pics. What was the 10pounder caught on?
  17. Like Stoty mentioned, try using top water lures. I was around fort Myers 2 weeks ago and we had a lot of action fishing Hula Poppers at night in the canals. We also went to Okeechobee and tried every bass lure under the sun, but got skunked. I don't feel too bad because even the pros that were prefishing for an upcoming tournament were having a hell of a time catching anything because of the murky water that day. We talked to some guys that did catch some bass and they said that they were using watermelon senkos deep in the weeds. Either way have fun, you're sure to catch something.
