  1. I added an item to my cart and entered my postal code so it could estimate shipping. It gave me this:

Available shipping options: International Orders - Exact amount via USPS - Calculate at ship time

    Your answer, Mike:

If you buy the reel, expect your credit card to be charged additional shipping at a later date once they calculate the exact price.

This has nothing to do with the site's integrity.

  2. If it were me, I'd buy an Abu Garcia Revo S. Most places should be clearing them out...if not now, soon enough...for around $120. That'll end up being cheaper than the Quantum when you consider exchange and shipping.

Plus, I've heard much better things about this current generation of Abu baitcasters, not to mention the fact that both my friend and I own the model up, the Revo SX, and haven't had one problem yet.

  3. Does it really matter? Aren't they a put and take fishery and not actually self sustaining... aren't they all going to be dead in a week or 2 anyway?... and from what I understand, they aren't even fit to eat!... the only good part about them is the eggs to use for bait, and why not? The eggs won't hatch and they'll just be wasted anyway... might as well put them to good use!!!

Maybe they should just legalize the snagging of Salmon only???... wouldn't that be simpler?

Although it doesn't happen to the same degree, the law-breaking that occurs during the salmom run takes place with bass, walleye, pike, and every other species.

So as much as I'd like to see the salmon mess cleaned up, I'd also like to see the benefits of increased fees go to help guard our other fisheries as well.

  4. ive been around boats all my life, giving the weight for noise reduction and sleekness of todays cowls and the speed a 9.9 can travel on im presumming a 16 ft rental,I have a hard time beliving it FLEW off

Yeah, but how old was the motor he was actually using? I doubt it was a 2009.

Besides, it was obviously loose to the point that the dockhand understood right away what had happened when he got back to the marina.

  5. I am just about to replace my Bouy-o-Bout 1-piece flotation suit.

This time, I am buying a 2-piece suit. I found a lot of times I got too hot ice fishing, and instead of unzipping and bunching up the top half , it would be nice to just be in bib-pants.

This time, I am buying a WATERPROOF floater suit...the Bouy-o-Bouy just acted like a sponge and I would get wet.

The only brand I have found that is like a gore-tex rain-suit with CCG approved flotation is the Mustang Survival Integrity HX line.

I have an e-mail out to their customer service as the website shows the bib-pants as being 'HX' but the jacket is just 'Integrity' which isn't waterproof. They have a 1-piece Integrity HX suit...but I would prefer going the 2-piece route this time.

    My $.02 :)

    Tony

    Tony -

At Le Baron, that's all we carry, so I suspect their website may be correct. The pants are HX, but the coats are not. From what I've always understood, the seams are sealed on all the HX products, whereas the Integrity coat is just water resistant.

  6. a fantastic region to fish with many honey-holes even in smaller conservation areas such as shades. what can we foresee happening here in an area so close to a major population base without a sufficient enforcement to babysit a non-conservation minded society? lower numbers of smaller sportfish!! even as little as five years ago , i've seen these reservoirs producing great catches!

poor valens is in a state of ill-management still too.

    Agreed.

I have a problem with a conservation area being treated like a grocery store. How is that conservation?

Maybe these CAs should institute lower limits or stocking to rehabilitate their waters.

  7. Diabetes perhaps? Is he walking strangely because his sugar is low?

    Jim

Thanks for all the input, everyone. Despite some peoples' experiences with animals, our cat is basically a part of the family, however cliche that may sound.

We took him back to the vet today and they took blood.

It turns out he's a diabetic, as Jim suggested. They're going to monitor him for a few days to see if the medication works. If it doesn't work he may have to be put down, as he can barely make it to the litter box anymore. If it does work, then we'll have to give him a shot once every day/two days at a cost of $10-$15 per month.

  8. I'm just curious if anyone here has had a similar problem with their cat, or dog even.

A few weeks ago we noticed our 8 year old cat was avoiding jumping anywhere high. Soon, he was dragging his back feet at times, and at others he was walking wobbly. It seems like he can't get any grip or power from his hind legs/paws.

Now he barely jumps at all. Everything else about him seems fine - he's eating, going to the washroom normally, and he doesn't seem to be in any pain. We've brought him to the vet who perscribed some arthritic medication on a trial basis, but after 10 days it hasn't helped one bit.

We're going to have to bring him in again, but in the mean time I'm just curious if anyone has any insight.

    Thanks,

  9. Good evening everyone -

I'm going out tomorrow and we've decided to take the inflatable and do some small-lake fishing.

We've got it down to Island Lake in Orangeville or Deer Creek (UrbanFisherman intrigued with his pictures for the charity event).

The only thing is, we haven't fished either place before, so we're looking for some input from some people who have.

We're after bass primarily, but wouldn't mind some pike (Island Lake) or trout (Deer Creek).

Let me know what you think - thanks.
