  1. I really look forward to checking in here a couple of times a day, I've already met a couple of guys that fish the area I'm interested in fishing and hope tp meet up with them this summer. Where else can you meet people as easily with the same interest? Great site!

  2. With the Canadian buck on the slide along with border fees and living 3 1/2 hours away from BP and constantly being in the need of either something for my boat or fishing gear I'm looking for a good reliable and fast online Canadian supplier for these constant wants and needs. From what I understand if you order from BP it comes from the US and would be subject to border fees including taxes and brokerage fees, so can anyone recommend any alternatives?

  3. if it's aluminum and riveted check that the rivets are tight and look for hairline cracks around them. Check the transom for cracks as well. Fiberglass usually has wood associated with it and that's what you have to concern yourself with, it can get soft and mushy usually in the floor and transom, also look for bubbles under the clear coat. The motor is another whole issue, best thing to do is demand a on the water test ride. Good Luck.

  4. Just looking through CT on line inventory for a ice hut, I got a auger last Friday and just for the heck of it check it again for inventory and now more stores are showing it in stock than last Friday. I wonder if they are bringing more product in for the sale from the ware house, might be worth checking your area CT's again if there was something you missed out on.

  5. I managed to get a 8" for $224 last night. I checked inventory on line first at home got there nothing was out, all the ice fishing stuff had been put away. I explained the situation to the kid working there he goes into the back storage room and returns about 5 minutes later with a brand new in the box Jiffy Ice auger. Now I'm already looking forward to next winter!

  6. Well if you ever wanted an ice auger.. now's the time to track one down. ALL 6 power models they carry are on sale at 1/2 price as are all hand augers.. every single one they carry. Sale is already on... a day early, so stuff may be sparse by tomorrow.

Just got back with a 8" Jiffy auger 3hp two stroke, $225 I'm very excited I would have paid $150 for a very used one 2 weeks ago but it sold before I could get there to get it. Out of 5 CT in a 45 minute range from my house 2 had them in stock, all the 10" were sold out or maybe they never carried them. :clapping:

  7. Bancroft, nice town with neat little shops, Thomas Oliver's tavern, the Timmies has the best view of any I've ever been in ( last week we sat there watching guys climbing the cliff directly across the street) and the the town is very ATV and snowmobile friendly with a main trail running right through town.

  8. EXCELLENT I hope ever boater and fisherman take the time to watch it. I had a very close call last summer 200 ft from shore fishing out of a canoe, no life jacket on one in the canoe, flip over no sign of life jack, my golden Lab sees me in the water he swims out and almost takes me under, he thinks its play time, my future son in law hears us, swims out and saves the day.

Now for me and anyone in my boat= LIFE JACKET ON!

  9. Sounds great, good luck with it.

I'm sure you will be happy with it. :D

FYI, if you re-read that post, he actually said that it took a little longer to get on plane with two people (big person) and the smaller 4 stroke but neither engine would get up on plane with three people on board.

the only thing i've noticed is if i get a big 2nd guy in the boat it takes a while to plane out (it wont plane with 3 of us) whereas with the 25, i'd get it up on a plane fairly quickly (still wouldnt plane with 3 of us)..

Yes right you are, I must have still been sleepy from my midnight shift. The fact that it would get on plane faster with 2 guys is still valid and that the old 2 stroke was pretty much on it's last legs still indicates a significant power difference. I'm hoping that a new 25hp will plane my boat with 3 or 4 people in it, depends a lot on weight distribution too. I almost started entertaining putting on a 30hp but didn't want to have issues with insurance or warranty on the boat.

  10. Thank You all very much, this thread did what I hoped it would. There was a lot of good lets call it debate on both 2 vs 4 stroke. A couple of comments brought it home for me though, one being said that a 20hp 4 st would not plane the boat with 3 guys in it, and with the previous old 25hp 2 st it would have. Another was a suggestion I'd be shopping for a hydro fin if I bought the 4 st. I have seen a lot of motors with these on them, I'm not sure if they work and I don't want to find out. I'm sure the 2 st will burn more fuel than the 4 but I'm prepared to spend extra on fuel for some extra performance. At a 100 to 1 mix running on synthetic I don't think smoke from the motor will be a big concern. I plan on running a bow mount to troll with which I will buy with the extra money I saved so that addresses trolling. I will miss the electric start and the fact the 4 st would be quieter but I'm already half deaf in my right ear so now with my left ear towards the motor maybe things will even out. That is about it so I put a deposit down on the 2 stroke 25 hp and will pick it up in March and never look back! Well hopefully never look back.

  11. did you guys hear about the new proposed mandatory home energy audit required when you sell your house at the tune of $300, who ever thought this could happen. Maybe a 2 stroke band in Canada is not out of the question, the closest I have heard of lake that has a 2 stroke band is in S Carolina but there may be some closer. Even if there is a chance they could band them in the next 15 years it be too soon to spend money on a 2 stroke now. There are quite a few 20 year old plus outboards still running and doing the job they were intended to do.
