  1. With all due respect, Some of you guys misunderstood my angry rant at the CBC. I'm not suggesting we get rid of the station, I'm suggesting we get rid of the current incompetent executives who are running the station to the ground. Replace them with talented professionals who know how to run a TV station. The current powers at CBC "don't think" before they spend, because they feel they don't have to answer to anyone for their actions. They blow millions on stupid programing, then say OOPS and demand more money from the government. There is no reason whatsoever that the CBC should be asking for more money when it receives an annual subsidy from the government of 1.1 BILLION DOLLARS. If run properly the CBC's worst case scenario would be breaking even, not losing money consistently over the past twenty five years. I was born and raised in this great country and love Canada. I'm as Canadian as anyone out there. The CBC has a responsibility to all Canadians to be the best it can be. I want it to work and the only way it will thrive, is if it doesn't take Canadians for granted and it functions as a creative and fiscally responsible organization. That's all I have to say about this. BigGuy
  2. Yes! I feel much much better thank you.
  3. The CBC receives ONE BILLION Dollars a year and has the nerve to ask for another sixty million. That's insanity! The CBC is not the voice of the majority because few people watch it. With the exception of a few quality programs like "The Fifth Estate","The Passionate Eye","Marketplace",and "The Rick Mercer Report", the rest of the programs are very mediocre, such as Corner Gas, Little house on the Prairie, and oh! let's not forget that great classic "Anne of green gables". If this series was used to interrogate prisoners of war it would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. How do you spell boring?........... CBC. The so called executives that run the CBC wouldn't last 4 months in the real corporate world. They have no concept of what it means to run a business. They should be ashamed of collecting such high salaries for such incompetent work. It's the same old, same old. Every year the same crap. No imagination! No innovation! No life! Oh! Let's not forget to mention that good Canadian actors get ahead on their own talent and hard work, and are well respected throughout the world. If your a half-assed actor you don't have to worry, because the CBC will find a place for you in some cheesy program and make sure you too become a member of the dysfunctional CBC family. Wake up people! Enough is enough! Time to pull away the feed bag and let them earn their money like the rest of us. Remember, your not supporting "the arts" when you support the CBC, your supporting incompetence in it's highest form. Big Guy
  4. The main reason the Leafs sell out is because most of the tickets are sold to Corporations. It's all about business, the bottom line. They don't care about the real fans who make an average income and can no longer afford to bring their kid to a Leaf game. A team as wealthy as the Toronto Maple Leafs has always had the financial power to wheel and deal for key players to help them win the Stanley Cup. Why dish out the big bucks if the seats are still full and those who can't afford the seats are still buying Leaf sweaters, T-shirts, hats, etc, etc. A great hockey town like Toronto hasn't come close to winning a Stanley Cup since 1967. That's a crying shame. It boggles the mind that in all those years the powers that be at "Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment" didn't see fit to invest some of their mega profits in key players to make Toronto a serious contender for the cup. Doesn't anyone in the organization have any pride. Stop buying the bull that their slowly building the team. They've been building it since 1967. Empires have been built in less time. Let's see if this latest glimmer of hope ( new manager & coach ) can finally bring some pride back to Toronto.... O.K. they've got the manager and coach, but they still don't have any great players. It could take 5 yrs. or more but what the heck, we've waited this long ( since 1967 ). In the meantime you gotta love those corporate seats. Did you know it's cheaper to drive to Buffalo when the Leafs are playing the Sabres than to watch a game here. Go figure! Regards, BigGuy
  5. Sorry about your loss.I offer my condolences to you and your family.
  6. Hi garry2rs, Sorry Garry, my intention wasn't to open pandoras box. I met a local fisherman at a coffee shop and he was raving about this P-LINE fluor clear. I was curious to hear what the guys on the board thought about using this product as a main line, and as a result, most of the guys don't like it. I was sold on the Superbraids when I received my first e-mail from you. You made a very sound and informative argument for the Superbraids and backed it up with solid facts and years of experience using many different lines. If I implied that I did not appreciate your advice, please accept my apology because that was not my intention. I look forward to reading your posts as they help me learn more about fishing. I will be trying the Superbraids this Spring and will let you know how it goes. Regards, BigGuy
  7. Hey Bushart, You said you threw out 1 spool of P-Line and went back to your "old favorite" which never let you down. You didn't mention what your favorite line is. Please tell us. Regards, BigGuy
  8. Hi folks, I've been hearing good things about P-LINE Fluoro-clear. It's a monofilament line coated with fluorocarbon and is said to be very strong with low memory. Has anyone whose fished with this line verify this information and give us the benefit of your experience such as strength of line, castibility, memory of line etc...etc. Regards, BigGuy
  9. Hello again Garry2rs, As you know I've spoken to a lot of fisherman in the past two months concerning the attributes of different SUPERLINES. A surprising number of fisherman that tried the Suffix braid did not go back to Power Pro. They found that it was a superior line. I can't give a personal opinion because I haven't tried it yet, but to some of the nay sayers on this board I would say " Don't knock it till you try it " . Remember, manufacturers are coming up with new products every year. Things change and improve. If you love Power Pro and it makes you happy, use it, but don't knock the other brands until you try them. What I like about you garry2rs is that you keeps an open mind and are always researching new products. Regards, BigGuy

  12. Hello to everyone on this board. ( new member ) I plan to take my son fishing this spring for pike. We will be using 5"-6" suckers/chub under a slip float. I'd like to make my own quick strike rig using 40 lb. fluorocarbon leader material, and to comply with the regulations of "4 points only," a single hook for lip hooking and a treble for the dorsal fin. For this size bait ( 5"-6" ) I'm guessing 1/0 single hook and #2 treble, but I'm not sure. What would you experienced Pike fisherman advise? Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. Regards, BigGuy
  13. Hi guys, I'm thinking of making my own quick strike rigs using 30 lb. fluorocarbon as the leader material. The bait I will be using this coming Spring is a 6" chub/sucker under a float. To comply with the regulations of 4 hook points only, I will use a single hook for the lips and a treble hook just behind the dorsal fin. I never fished with bait this big before and wonder if the experienced pike/musky fisherman on this board could advise me on what hook sizes to use for 6" chub/sucker. I was guessing size 1 for the single hook and size 4 for the treble hook. What do you think? I appreciate any help and advice you can give me. Regards, BigGuy
