Nice fish Matt I know where you where fishing . I'm from Pa and fish down stream from you where the river empties into the Flats . The season now is all catch and release until mid May but you have a chance at some really nice fish . My son and I like to fish with Top Water lures for the Stripers . Here is one of the bigger ones my son caught a couple years ago . We use our Muskie rods for the bigger ones and cast big top water lures.

Hi Dave
My son and I have been fishing Sturgeon for a lot of years and have fished it from June -Oct . We fish for Muskies and now make most of our trips in Oct . You will find a lot less boat traffic and we have been doing a lot better on bigger fish in Oct . If you want more info send me a PM I can help you some.

Back in the city after a great weekend fishing Jack's Lake and staying with the amazing folks at Jack's Lake Lodge (http://www.jackslakelodge.com/).
While the blazing hot afternoon weather made for slow daytime fishing, we did have success in the mornings and early evenings fishing smallmouth with texas-rigged worms and weedless plastic jigs. Fish were all caught in the log-filled bays or over the extended, submerged weed beds. We didn't get into any huge fish and topped out at a two pounder.
We also managed to get into some very nice 3/4 pound crappie on crankbaits off of the resort dock.
A big thank you to resort owner Joe for giving us a great bait and presentation tutorial. It was a valuable and much appreciated lesson from a master for this group of fisherman still learning the craft.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lake and this resort.
Thanks to board member Hank. Jr. for the suggestion and advance lake tips.
Sounds like you had a good week . I'am glad the tips I gave you helped . Sounds like the weather was a little hot but nothing you can do about the weather. We still have to wait another 6 weeks until our trip .

My son and I have used power pro for the last 15 years with good results . I just purchased some of the newer Sufix braid and from what I seen so far it may be even better then the Power Pro. It cast farther and it is rounder and doesn't dig in on the spool as much as other braids.
