  1. I ordered from TW from time to time. If the products you ordered are manufactured outside US, duty will be collected on them. If the products you ordered are manufactured in US, no duty is applicable thanks to North American Free Trade Agreement.
  2. Year before, Narrowed down two cottages for purchase. My major purpose to purchase a cottage is for fishing. One is on Lake Semyour and another is on Bay of Quinte. Decided to go Bay of Quinte. Wonder whether it was a better choice.
  3. I am living less than 10 minutes drive to BPS which is not necessarily a good thing . Last Friday I found and bought a St. Croix Mojo spinnerbait cast rod for $100.00 dollars. The new line series are more tactic specific. Rod for spinnerbait, for crankbait, frog, swimming bait, plastic... They look cool for that price tag. Has anyone used them? Any comment will be welcome.
  4. Thanks. I will keep it. This is what joining this board for.
  5. Thanks guys. I may keep it for crankbaits. No doubt Curado is a great reel. Danbo, the link is what I need for winter.
  6. Two years ago, I purchased a Curado with gear ratio of 5.0:1. I used it for pitching and flipping. I often found that when I detected a fish strike, the gear ratio is not big enough for me to reel in slack quick and thus ended up losing fish. My other baitcasters have ratio of 6.0:1. I am fine with them for pitching, casting and cranking. I just bought another Curado with gear ratio of 7.0:1. I intend to use it exclusively for pitching and flipping. I can trade in my old Curado, but wonder whether I can match it with my cranking rod for the use of crankbaits. I know low gear baitcaster is good for bottom fishing and trolling. What about cranking? The cranking rod has moderate fast tip and I think smaller gear ratio and slower retrieval speed reel may be a perfect match. Would like to know from your experience. Thanks.
  7. Hi Calberrt: Not sure about Hay Bay. Fished Mohawk Bay, Narrows, Green Pt lately. Walleye fishing is tough and bass is on fire if you find deep weedlines. Cannot go wrong with senko wacky style. Bassin
  8. Hi Flex, thanks for the link. I plan to get a brand new boat asking the dealer to put everything together for me since I am not a handy man . Thanks a lot for all your valuable advice. Whoever sells a fish & ski bowrider to me owes you a commission fee . Let me get them ready and we will definately hook up. Have a nice weekend.
  9. Hi Forest, price is ok. Cannot set a price range for wife and kid, right? Linwer, I may decide to get a fibreglass boat. Thanks for your link. Rich, read your posts all time. Come down and hook up for some bassin or WGSF fun. Beer is free. Flex, thanks again.
  10. Thanks, slowpoke, jwl for your generous offer, Canadianboy ... Really appreciate. Flex, I know Glaston makes fish and ski boats. How did you troll the boat for walleyes without a kicker motor or a trolling plate installed? Thanks Flex for your great advice. One of my neighbors just purchased a brand new Legend Xcaliber. My kid is not into it for reasons I do not know.
  11. Really thanks for all replies, to John, Follow, Micro, Flex, Tony and Taper, ... Flex, Glastron is actually one of the fiberglass bowriders I would like to check. I will go to a dealer to have first-hand experiences and may place an order when end-summer sales starts. As very much I like Alumacraft not mention Lund since I fished with my friends on those boats quite often, I reallywant to make my family happy by getting a bowrider rather than an aluminum fishing boat. My cottage is right on one of hot spots for walleyes in Bay of Quinte. I plan to get the boat and boatlift ready by next spring. When they are ready, I look forward to meeting you guys there.
  12. Thanks John for your very informative reply. I will be using the boat for fishing a lot and will leave the boat in my cottage. So, towing is not an issue. However, I am very reluctant to put my wish ahead of my wife and my kid’s wish. I would likely purchase a fiberglass bowrider with a swimming platform. All I want to have is: it is a bowrider, but it shall have some fishing features in place (such as live well, rod storage etc.) so that when my wife and kid do not ride it, I can run it for fishing. I fish for walleye and bass. Do not know a fiberglass bowrider such as fish and ski boat will rightly fit into the intended use.
  13. Want to buy a fishing boat for a long time. Wife and kid want to have a bowrider. I know that bayliner, Tahoe, Four Winn and other boat manufacturers make fish and ski boats. Does anyone have first hand experience with those fish and ski boat? Can I use those fish and ski boats for slow trolling for walleyes or go to shallow for bass? Any of your input will be appreciated. Tight line.
  14. Hi Stoty: I do not know whether you have child(ren) of marriage and whether you have a matrimonial home. Try to reach a Separation Agreement with your wife to settle down the following issues: (1) Custody of children. I would think that joint custody for children or split custody (if you have more than one child) is more appropriate and good for children. (2) Matrimonial home: either both of you sell it and split the net proceeds or one of you keeps the home with the other paying off his or her ½ share of the interest; (3) Division of net family property: it is my principle: we are men and shall give all we can to ladies. In such hardest time, men can go back to their hobbies like fishing, women are different. (4) Child support: it is based on the government table amount and basically no body can change the amount unless you can demonstrate that you have justified grounds. The table amount is calculated based on your annual income and what kind of custody that you have over the children. (5) Spousal support: waive them. After you reach the Agreement, the rest will be easy. Your wife and you can file a joint petition for divorce. The court will check upon the child support matters and if it is happy with it, court will issue the divorce judgment and you can then apply for divorce certificate. Talk to talk to a lawyer who may give you a free initial consultation. If you need a formal Separation Agreement sample, PM me.
  15. Hi Sunfish: Just created an account to send a message to you. I purchased 12.6 Porta Bote 1.5 years ago after I had done a lot of research. I match the boat with 46 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor for small and quite waters and conservation lakes. I use 5 horse power 4 stroke gas motor for relatively large waters. If you go to US Porta Bote home page, you can order the gas motor from them directly. I ordered my gas motor last year (Nissan). It cost about $1400 Canadian dollars including shipping and handling. No tariff was levied due to NAFTA. The boat is excellent if you do not have a storage space or do not want to tow a trailer. It is very stable and safe on small water and you will have no problem standing and casting. 46 lb thrust trolling motor has sufficient power to get you from point A to B. I usually bring two Deep Cycle batteries on the boat. One for fishing, one for stand-by and get me back to the shore if I fish whole day. The boat may be a bit small in big and rough water. I purchased my cottage this year in Bay of Quinte where water is always choppy. I use my gas motor for windy days and trolling motor for calm morning or event outings. But I never got too far with my dock out of the sight. The boat is still quite safe. However, you shall not stand in the boat and big waves will make you feel scared (actually more on your nerve). If you hook a 40+ inch pike or musky, they will drag you and your boat all over the lake. One thing to remember, the hull weighs around 70 pounds. I have no problem loading and unloading from the car top. However you may need a roomy car (I drive SUV) to take boat seats, transom, motors and oars when you travel. After practicing several times, you can set up the boat within 10 minutes. I ordered the porta dolly for aiding the launch but never used them. I regularly abuse the boat by dragging and pushing it over the rocks, gravels, sands for launching from anywhere I want. The hull material is virtually indestructible. Overall, if you seek a boat for small and quite water with no storage space, Porta Bote is way to go. Any question, please PM me. Have fun out there.
