  1. Stayed at the Superclub breezes Varadero....

    Absolutely stunning!

    Beautiful resort...

Facilities were amazing, the rooms were great, and the food was Awesome.

Cuba has a reputation for nice resorts...bad food

But in this particular case the food was excellent.

3 A la carte Restaurants, one buffet restaurant, 4 cocsession style snack bars, and I was able to find 4 bars

(2 of which are open 24 hours a day) plus a dsco!!!

Freindly staff, the beach was out of a movie, mopad rentals, sunquest vacation tour station right on the resort to book tours, or say....fishing charters.

    :whistling:

Ya I'd go back in a heartbeat.

  2. I'm really lucky to have been able to fish with All my 4 bro's, my Pops, several of my cousins, and uncles....its always been a family affair.

And I am fortunate enough to have a great fishing bud now that makes most of my trips pretty cool...eh Swede?

Although I did fish a few times with my best freind growing up....he passed of cancer at the ripe old age of 20.

I'd love the chance to wash lures once more.

And I'd definatly love to fish with Jesus....who wouldn't?

He could turn one fish into many, and the water to wine...sounds like a great partner to me :thumbsup_anim:

  3. I think I get the point,

Its always better to see Canadian Jobs go to Canadians as opposed to out sourceing....It helps the economy and keeps people off soccial assistance programs.

    So its a double positive.

If the job is filled from applicants outside of Canada so be it...

I'd take it that means Us Canucks are either not interested in that job, or to lazy to appreciate the job LOL...

    Now lets go fishing!

  4. Putting the fly rod aside...

Smaller Rapala's Matching the local minnow population, allthough I find Black & Silver, perch, and Speckled Patterns work best for me.

Blue fox spinners, in Strait silver and thunder bug work decent as well both spring and summer.

But Thats generaly Algonquin lakes, not quite the same area.

But in the hot Hot dog days of summer I know some who swear by crawfish....

I may not be the formost expert but the browns I have found in rivers behave quite similar to the Specs...Generaly I find them in the eddies, or just before a fast water break, and the lure choices would remain the same.

I'd stick to a fast action medium or light rod and run a 6lb test....but thats just me :blahblah1:

  5. I'm 100% artifical bait guy....

Used to fish some limited live bait, but stopped about 4-5 years ago completely.

I just enjoy the challange, and Invlovment more I guess?

Sorry no picks of the lures...they are all removed before I take any pics(I'm a bit of a stickler for getting the hooks out ASAP)

But these are all recent catches from last season, and every one was Taken on artificals.

My PB 31" Sauble Steelhead on a last ditch effort...roe, flies, plastics were not cutting it this day.

So O'L faithfull came out and did the job....origional Rapala black & Silver

I guess its safe to say Rapala made my year a little more productive this year :thumbsup_anim:

  6. Years ago I saw something similar...

Friends took us out on then Ice round Kirkland lake, way back in the bush, to a little remote lake.

While we set up one guy drilled a series of holes while the other guy took off into the bush with a chain saw.

he returned dragging 3 large tree branches...shoved them into the 3 holes drilled in a semi circle...

with tie wraps, some rope, and 2 tarps we had a semi cricle shaped hut with a roof to boot in no time.

once the heater was up and running we were warm as could be....

Same concept I guess on a larger scale?....keep at it

    Great plan fer sure.

  7. Man....I hope I never require one for work.

I like the fact I can Leave, and trust my colleagues to hold the fort down....

the second I'm on that gadget...I can safely say goodbye to my spare time.

They say ignorance is bliss....I'd agree, and I'd like to keep it that way.

But on a Personal level...gotta say its pretty a cool machine.

  8. Thats pretty much exsactly what I'm leaning towards...

The Startcraft I've been looking at is a bit older then that one, but its a different model as well

Its got a full canapy, and full windsheild with a side console, and some riggers to boot.

Thanks for the link though I might go check that one out!

  9. Thanks guys,

    I appreciate the Feed back.

I was leary of the 50hp as well, but I have to keep my budget in mind(er...my wife is keeping my budget in line)

I have several models in mind but the 18'seemed best for future growth(Ie. up grade the motor with next years bonus, or the year after)

There is still a good 16' side pannel model with a 40hp in my sights as well....

Its reeeeely nice with all the bells an whistles but I wasn't sure 16' would be big enough for the big water?

  10. Ok pure hypothetical question....

What size of boat & engine would you reccomend for this Scenario.

I'm in the market this year for a purchase...My budget is limited but I'm aiming high

I want something Big enough(just barely) to hit the big waters of Huron occasionaly

Being I have trailer just outside of Kincardine, but I want to stay small enough to still be easily towed down to some smaller inland lakes, or inlets like Colpoys bay, Picton, The west arm, or the moon etc...

This is my first "real" boat.....aside from my 10' electric punt

I have my eye on an Aluminum 18' deep hull starcraft with a 50hp Merc

I'm thinking thats suffice, provided I keep my eye on the weather if I'm out in Huron.

And plenty good for Picton, and easily towed to boot.

    What are you thoughts?

  11. Totaly agree.

    I drive nuthin but NA..

Chev actually, and I've never had any issues.

My First Car was a 83 Chevette I bought for $1200....

I drove that thing into the ground, and finaly had to give her up because an accident compriomised the frame, I think I'd still be driving that little spark plug if it wasn't for that accident...well maybe not now LOL

    2nd car was a 1993 Chev Cavalier....ran it up to 375,000kms

It was used I bought it for $5500, and The only thing I bought for it was Gas oil, and a couple of tires, then I had a family and needed something bigger, and I figures the time was right...but I could very well have gone years longer wioth that car.

Third car errr...Van is a 2001 Chevy venture I picked up for $9000....still going strong, high milage, not a single issue, not single complaint.

    My Uncle is a mechanic...

I buy all my cars from him, because he knows his stuff.

He works on my cars for free...If I need anything done I pay for the parts.

He refuses to buy foreign cars for that very reason.

He doesn't want to spend all his free time fixing my car for free.

His confidence in NA cars speaks volumes...

Funny part is when I compare my dollar to years ratio versus most of my freinds...

I've been driving Chev cars since 1992 and spent a grand total of $15,700

    And maybe $2000 of maintenence.

I don't have a single friend or aquaintance to my knowlage who is not driving a car currently that they paid more then that for...

And if not I gaurentee they doubled or tripled My dollar per year ratio driving imports...not mention twice the headaches.

My wife is still driving her 1995 Sunfire...issue free.

A few minor repairs such as windshied wipers, and a leak in a fuel line...but other wise still a good reliable cost effective car.

But I guess I could just be reeeeely lucky

  12. That rainbow is a freak of nature!

I saw the pictures in the paper when it was caught....A little jealous am I.

I think they confirmed it as an farmed escapee, but who cares....if thats what the escapees become I say let em all go!

That Ski is a beauty as well...definatley took advantage of the "length pose"

but again...who cares you can tell how big and beautifull it is regardless.

    Again...jealous am I

  13. So let me get this straight....

You guys get up in the middle of the night, crawl out of bed leaving behind a nice warm wife to go set your donkey down in a cardboard box on a frozen lake?

    Your wives are warm?

My wife's feet are always 2 degrees below zero on a normal day I swear.

And if I've been out with the boys the night before...

    I tell you...she's Dam cold :w00t:

Maybe its time I start Ice fishing?
