  1. Thanks for the kind words guys. If I'm lucky I'll have some more reports to share in the coming weeks.
  2. Hi Guys A little introduction and trip report here. My name is Jason, I've been an occasional lurker here for a long time, but I've been reading some reports on here from the Algoma area and thought I'd start posing some reports too. I live in Sault Ste. Marie and I enjoy fishing all over the Algoma district. Yesterday I took the family up to Lake Superior Provincial Park for some ice fishing. On the way up the thermometer was reading -25 so I wasn't sure how much fishing we would be able to do with the little one, but the forecast was for a warmer day, so we continued on. Saw a bunch of other people fishing the various other brook trout lakes on the way up to our lake. We decided to fish one of the bigger Lake Trout lakes in the park with a short walk in. We arrived at the parking area about 9:30 and after a little exercise we arrived. The lake had 12" of good ice, very little snow, but a couple inches of slush in some small areas by shore. We caught a few fish, including these two which we brought home for dinner. I missed 4 good hits because I wasn't paying attention, I guess having a kid will do that too you. White tube jigs failed me today, Green and silver jigging spoons were the ticket. My son Nolan on his first fishing trip. This is the other one we brought home. It started snowing soon after we got there and it warmed up to -6 on the ice and much warmer in the in the tent. Left the lake about 3:30, this is my wife Beth with our son on the hike out. On the way home we saw this wolf crossing the ice on Lake Superior. He was a little to far out from shore and it was a little too dark for a good picture. So everyone had a great time and the trout were delicious.
  3. I got nothin' on those 2 lakes, but everyone at work is reporting that lakers and specks are both hitting good right now.
  4. Lots of safe ice on all the small to medium sized inland lakes. Went out last weekend just north of town. 8" of clear solid ice. Still, be careful, lots of lakes up here are spring fed and can have weak spots. We've had a bit of snow in the last couple of days so it could be hiding some bad ice.
  5. Born and Raised in Camlachie Ontario (Just outside Sarnia) Then lived in Waterloo, Red Deer, Edmonton, Victoria and Hamilton Now I live in Sault Ste. Marie and I ain't moving anymore.
  6. Hi Everybody I used to post on the old board under the name Smitter, haven't posted in a while. I've been pretty busy this summer, new job, new house, new city, but things have settled down now so I have time to post again. Most of the reason I haven't been posting is my computer was stolen a few months ago. I lost almost the whole summers worth of pictures, pretty upsetting. Based primarily on my outrage over that incident I decided to stop renting from jerks and buy my own house. We bought a nice little home in Sault Ste Marie and we love it. The new board looks great and it's nice to be back. About Me I'll fish for anything that's biting, up here I fish for pike, walleye, salmon in the fall, rainbows, lake trout, brook trout, whitefish and perch. I also fly fish for the above species. Right now I do all my fishing either in waders or from a canoe or kayak, and based on the fact that I'm house poor now, probably will be for a while. I also like to do backpacking and canoe trips, camping, hiking and general outdoorsy things. 1 wife, 0 kids, 1/4 of a dog. Now here's some pics
