I tried doing a search on this site & found nothing but a general reference in a thread about Bancroft Lakes. Am I missing something? Thanks, Bill

Hey Folks....we're going to be putting an offer in on a cottage on Steenburg Lake. Does anyone have any information on the lake in regards to fishing? Bill
-
Was kinda hoping for some first hand info.....but I guess nobody is familiar with the lake. Also looking at cottages on Monck Lake...well actually anywhere in the Bancroft area. Can't afford the bigger lake though like Baptiste or Paudash Thanks

Hi gang....I'm looking into possibly buying a cottage & I've seen a few on Dickey Lake that seem interesting. The lake is in the Bancroft area. Does anyone have any info on the lake they could provide me. Thanks, Bill

Thanks Are pike & musky still open early to mid november?? I think we're going the 1st or 2nd weekend of the month. Bill

Hi all......early in November I'm heading up to a cottage nearby these lakes for a boys weekend. Does anyone have any info on these lakes to make for a successful trip? Or any other lakes that you may recommend in the Bancroft area. Spiecies of fish doesn't matter...just needs to be in season. Would musky still be open?? Bill

Tracker ProV16/Princecraft Yukon DLX/Princecraft springbok 20
B Diddy replied to Lunker777's topic in General Discussion
I too bought a tracker 16 ft prov last spring with a 60 hp merc. Graet boat, just wished I had of bought a bigger boat. Most times I'm out with my family (4 of us) and it's very tight but we manage. 2 guys & it's perfect Bill -
This is the first year I have given the lake a try. Heard great things about the smallmouth fishery & have had no success. Too bad because it's very handy to get to. Not many descent lakes I can have a boat in the water in less than an hour. Some people I have talked to including a CO have said the fishing has been slow all season. But I do still see the odd fisher with good catches. Bill

Hi Guys....ended up hitting St John for a couple hours before the rain got too bad & the wife & kids had enough. Managed a decent bass & a hammer handle pike. Scared up a couple follows & that was about it. The kids are ready to get into some bigger fish now for sure so hopefully I can get them out for some good bass fishing. I would sure love to figure out simcoe a bit. Is the lake usually tough or do we just have aweful luck. It's a very convenient location for us to hit Bill

Nothing eh....oh well. I guess I'll see how adventureous the family is today. My votes goes to Head lake. I've heard it's good for bass & possibly even a muskie

Hi all....taking the family (Wife & 2 boys 8 & 10) out for a days fishing tomorrow. Was thinking of Head Lake out by Norland, but with the weather looking iffy I thought about maybe staying a little closer to home & trying Lake St. John. Does anyone have any info on these lakes? We have been hitting Simcoe a bit this year but am tired of ending up perch fishing. Told the buddies we're going for some real fish tomorrow Of course if someone is willing to share their Simcoe secrets that's even closer yet. We just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks in advance Bill

$150 tops is my budget

Hey guys....thanks for the replies. J ust thought I should add that I currently use a Shimano Citica & Curado. First reel was a Quantum Pro 2 from many moons ago. That said I'm not new to baitcasters just looking for something new. My Citica is the newest of the bunch & the Curado was seeming tired. Took it to Aikman's in Mississauga to get it serviced so hopefully that will rekindle some life back into it. I want to team this new real up with a 7'-6" heavy action rod (Bass Pro Extreme) for fishing Bass in the slop mostly also acting double duty I suppose as a casting rod for Pike & Musky. Sounds like the Diawa may be a good reel to try. Any other thoughts Bill

Hi.....I'm looking to buy a new baitcasting reel & am looking for suggestions. Primarily used for bass & pike fishing. I have about 100-150 to spend. Any thoughts on what you folks like? Bill

Hey gang....was thinking of going out on the may long weekend to either the French or Pickeral river for some camping & fishing. We have a canoe or aluminum with 9.9 to use. Would we be able to use a boat & motor in either of these rivers. What's the fishing like? Which one is better & does anyone have any specific areas they prefer to fish. Not looking for secret hotspots unless of course you are willing to part....lol. Just a general area that may be better than others. I assume there are lots of camping spots. I have very little info on this area so any help will be great Thanks, Bill

Better get eating some spinnach. Manual auger for us buddies. Guess it's plenty safe still for a couple atv's

Was thinking of taking the kids out on the ice tomorrow to see if we can catch a couple. Just wondering if the ice is still safe to take the atv out. Was going to try out from Lefroy. Any insight would be great. Bill
