And customers must show photo ID for proof of local residency to enter grocery, LCBO & Beer Store. Non-residents are not welcome here!!

And utility providers (electricity & propane primarily) are identifying non-residents by billing addresses and disconnecting utilities.
+ LEOs are using license plate scanners to identify non-residents & issuing $750 tickets.
Also,  people from the city are waking up at the cottage and finding slashed tires in the cottage driveway!!

I'll be 70 in a couple of weeks , diagnosed COPD about ten years ago but not having any issues now , going out to cut the lawn today , 50 by 175 lot. Wife although younger , has emphysema  and shortness of breath. I call our chances of survival somewhere between slim and none. Pension keeps coming in so no need to go out except a weekly grocery shop at  R.C.Superstore during seniors hour Tuesday morning, we are isolating till the coast is entirely clear regardless of the rest of the world.

I should be an individual decision.

We found out that we lost my wife's aunt to the virus yesterday. She was in a home, late 80's in age. It was touch and go last weekend, she spiked a fever, than on Monday, she felt good and was eating ice cream.

Her fever spiked again on Tuesday and by Thursday, she was gone.

This thing is decimating our older population. We need to stay the course to save who we can.

Technically, I am high risk, I have no underlying health issues other than 65 birthdays.  To start opening things back up it is going to take a huge amount of common sense, both by customers and service providers.

We can't stay closed forever.  Sooner or later there will be no money for anything including health concerns.

  4. Well, it looks like my state is going to partially open back up next week.  We are definitely not a hot spot.   the confirmed cases are .0009% of the population with a fatality rate of .03%.  Of the fatalities, 72% were over 65 and 87% falling into some form of high risk group.

I am glad.  I need a haircut like a fat baby needs a Mama.

This can maybe be taken as a shot at Americans, but honestly I don’t really care, but in my experience significantly far more Americans are completely uneducated about the world outside of America in comparison to Canadians. Some would even go to the extent of calling it ignorance. I.e. if it doesn’t concern America then it doesn’t concern them at all. It’s an unfortunate reality as far as I’m concerned.

im also sure a significant component of Americans would have no clue who the British, German or French president/prime ministers are either.

I don't take it as a shot at all.  I think someone already said that very little of what any other country does has any significant impact on a US citizen.  On the other hand what the US does can immediately impact other countries.

When we talk to Canadian family and friends they are far more concerned with what we are doing than what is going on in Canada and probably 30-40% of the time their facts about the US are wrong or only partially correct.

I miss the days of when we actually got news, not some talking heads opinion of what the news is.  I sure miss Walter Cronkite.

Here is the 1st centre council  20 foot StarCraft Heritage they did before I came along to help. Not too shabby I must say. It's something like an 1988'. I really enjoy seeing boats revived rather than at the scrap dealers. The cost was around 5 grand before it was repowered with a 150 Merc. 2 stroke. So about 10K all in. Try buying that boat for 10K.

That's a fine, professional looking conversion.  You mentioned Key West in another post.  they are very popular along the Gulf and have a very good reputation.  They are built in SC and you can see that Carolina flare in the bow design.

Now it's 24 hour per day 7 days a week giving us the same information over and over again. The reports of the 25 that lost their lives in southern hurricanes on the weekend took up a few minutes only on CNN. Alabama I think. I hope Chrismon Tide is OK.I guess hurricanes don't rate compared to this thing. I see on my Bell Satellite TV system there are new channels dedicated to this thing we are dealing with. The stats for those infected and those that have died world wide and in the US and Canada depending on the home base of the channel  are like a score board for a sports game. It really reminds me when I was a kid and the evening news networks posted the numbers of North Vietnamese that were killed in the last 24 hours and how many American soldiers lost their lives. We know now the numbers were all wrong, we didn't back in 1969. Occasionally they post the number that have gotten through the virus and lived. That's the important number to me anyway.

We are fine, they were tornadoes not Hurricanes.  We are about to enter into Hurricane season though.

NOAA says it is going to be a strong season, but of course NOAA hasn't been right in 20 years.

This is a global crisis though, I'm guessing there isn't many people buying new cars lately because they're preoccupied and maybe suffering with what's going on, so unless they have a backlog of solid orders, I doubt there's a rush to get back to production

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a recession from the many personal and company bankruptcies due to this china virus

I don't think there's a demand for new cars right now

Of course there is no demand for new cars now because to many people have little or no income.  When you shutter 80% of an economy the demand for most everything goes down.

    Well except toilet paper.

We supply plants in Alabama. Also here direct to tier 2 which supply to tier ones . We need them to start up so I can get back to work .

The other thing to remember is that governments from local on up are getting very few tax dollars coming in.

Sooner or later money will dry up if we don't get back to business.

  10. We have a Honda plant in Alabama, they make Pilots and Odysseys.  Be damned glad when they are back rolling.

We also have a Mercedes, Hyundai, Toyota and a Mazda plant.  All are shut down.  When they are shut down, all of there suppliers are shut down.

At some point, things have to get back in production.

We can't wait until there is zero chance of another case. If we do the economy of the states and Canada will take years to recover.

Sometimes you have to get realistic.
