  1. Caught this while I was looking for pickerel in a small Muskoka Lake yesterday! I've never caught one before, I was drifting a plastic leach across the bottom in 30 feet. Not my thing but I was kind of impressed by the size of it. It was released I hear they are good eating but not really into that. No pickerel found lol

Not really into what exactly? crappie are amazing table fare....as good or better then walleye IMO

That's a really nice crappie, definitely spoiled for your first ever.

  2. It all depends on the size of your float/river current/river depth...

You want enough so your float is properly cocked, but not so much that it starts to drag it under water.

make sure you get split shot all the wey down to about 1-2' from your bait, a lot of new steelhead fisherman don't get there bait down deep enough....heavy current and ill sometimes put 3-4 aplit shots about 6" from my bait.

Get it down and keep it down.

  3. Couldn't resist putting this up, we had a fun night out trolling last night, two good rips within the first 20 minutes, both turning out to be pike

Trolling through 3-4 foot rollers was easy peasy, and blasting through the 2 footers at 40 mph on the way back in was a great feeling.

  4. Thanks guys, I'm super impressed with the boat so far,

The previous owner took out all the old carpet and re-did with Nautolex Marine vinyl. I much prefer this, the carpets are hard to clean and look bad when faded/roughed up, I think that's why it looks like such good condition.

I looked at so many boats over this search, starcraft/crestliner/legend/tracker you name it....never really considered lund because most were 2-3000 over my budget...

This one had more horsepower and was longer/wider then pretty much everything i was looking at, so the decision was easy when it popped up right at the top edge of my budget.

Had to drive 3.5 hours to go get her on a moments notice, well worth it!

  5. Well i have been searching for my first boat for a few months now, finally found one that i like and made an offer!

I was mostly interested in a good musky casting rig, with the ability to go out on the big lakes and troll steelhead/salmon when needed, i think i found the perfect rig for my needs. Not to big, but can handle the rough water if needed

    1992, Lund 1890 PROv dlx

    1992 115 Merc

    2012 9.9 Suzuki kicker

It came with some Big Jon downriggers and some downriggin rods and tackle as well.

Love the boat! got out last night for the maiden voyage and managed to land the first fish in the new rig, that was awesome! Had multiple other follows and a few lost fish as well, they will have to wait until next time.

My brother also got a nice pike...couldn't keep his musky pinned though...

Manged to hit 42.5 MPH with 4 ppl and a dog on board, was surprised at that.

  6. Hey Guys,

My dad and I are heading up to parry sound this weekend for some trout downrigging. Last year we did a guided trip with a friend of a friend who no longer guides but did a special trip out for us...anyways we caught some big big fish with consistency. Unfortunately I have been really struggling to find the specific lures that the guide suggested we use.

The specific lures i am looking for are Dreamweaver Super Slim holographics.

I have even looked online however, amazon wont ship these lures to canada and the only place i found was a mail in order shop out of michigan with a website looking like it was made in 1993.

Ive tried bass pro, al flahertys and sail and none of them seem to carry much of the dreameaver line. I was able to grab flies from al flahertys but no one seems to carry Dreamweaver spoons.

Any suggestions? I am in the GTA but would be able to stop anywhere between the GTA and Pointe au Baril.

Maybe someone even has a suggestion for a similar set of spoons?

Not sure if your talking about fisher-baker corp. in Marine city, but I have used it many times and they know what they are doing.

If you weremt talking about them, then give them a look if you ever need this service.

  7. Sorry for the earlier post and don't mean to mislead, I just tried to sign up for a year and it's still $165...buggers......I guess it was too good to be true.

HAHA, I was gunna say, if thats true.....ide be signing right back up

Just cancelled my subscription, it was fun while it lasted.....the best of the 5 boxes ive gotten so far have deifntely been the Yozuri and LiveTarget cranks....

If i bass fished more, i wouldnt have cancelled, as they also come with discount codes to order more of the baits you got in the box...15-30% off is pretty nice if you actually used/liked some of the baits you got.

  8. That is what the story says.

Does anybody recognize the scenery? I have no way of know where the video was shot. The frame seems too narrow; kind of like they were trying to prevent anyone from recognizing the location.

    http://www.variety104.com/2014/07/14/real-or-fake-shark-in-lake-ontario/

Seems like any video shot with an iphone....regarding the narrow frame anyways.

Not saing this is real, but if the above post is correct and there are reported bull sharks in the St lawrance, then i dont see why there couldn't be any in Lake O.

I saw this video a week ago and it claimed to be shot in the kingston area....

  9. Got the 3 month trial, forgot to cancel for the next 3 months,

They are pretty neat, got some nice live target lures and can never have enough spinner baits.

But yes, you will end up with a bunch of soft plactics. I decided to cancel because i rarely use soft plastics anyways.

Bass anglers may like this a bit more....

  10. Smashed this pig last night while walleye fishing, wading the shallows of the st clair river

We had just made the comment, "cant believe we havent caught a smallmouth or silver yet...only walleye so far, how lucky"

Then this piggy crunched my jig. What a fight in the st clair river current

  11. Hey, anybody tried breading them... just occurred to me that they would hold up well to breading... hmmm, marinate them in _____ then bread and fry.

    Potential I would think!

    HH

I tried breading them in panko before, then fried in butter, tasted awesome
