  1. Everybodys opinions about how to rig up certain hole/run will vary,

But if i was fishing a run about 3-5' with water moving very quickly...ide get about 4-5 feet under the float and stack my shot close to the bait to make sure it stays near bottom. Every run is diffrent you just have to keep switching it up until something works...

Worst thing you can do is not put enough shot on to get your bait down deep enough....a big problem alot of people just starting out have, is the fact their bait is swirling around in the top 1/3rd of the water coloumn because they dont have enough shot. Get your bait down there and something will eventually smack it!

  2. I assume the "haters need not reply" refers to me

    :dunno:

But, I can't help myself!! :wallbash:

    Learn to listen

What do you mean "IF" the laffs lose tonight???? :w00t: :w00t:

You guys are so used to losing you can't help but think about losing, even when you're winning.....priceless!!! :rofl2: :rofl2:

That wasnt even a leafs fan making that post

Seriously though, did you really think Reimer was going to be the end all of the leafs problems? No,who said that?

The Leafs are 2 injuries away from being in the basement, The leafs have had dozens of injuries this season I'm not hoping that anyone gets hurt but if you take away Kessels and Lupols goals/points, you do not have much. Same goes for most teams

  3. I just love how you so called leaf fans all can sit back and say, if they can get so and so, if so and so comes back, if they can stay healthy, if they can get the PP going, if they can get the PK working, if the goalies can stop pucks....blah, blah blah blah....

    That's a lot of what if's...... :blahblah1: :blahblah1:

    Hey, I've got a few what if's.......

What if they didn't just suck so bad....eh....?????? :w00t: :w00t:

What if the fans let the management know they want a winning team instead of trying to make something out of the crap they put on the ice.... :rofl2: :rofl2:

    :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :w00t:

Lol what do you mean by 'so called' leafs fans? you think the guys posting in leafs threads about problems with the team arent the real fans? Were are they at then?

Ide rather be a leafs fan with hope then one without? I was 2 years old when i started watching the leafs, man i must have been such a stupid little kid

  4. There is a launch just inside the mouth of the Thames at Jeanettes creek, free launch and only about a mile to the lake....usually a very busy place and the launch isnt the greatest out there but its in an ideal spot...

  5. Awesome.....thankyou. I didnt know anymore coho's were planned.

I think that I am the only on who enjoys coho's better then kings!

Haha not so fast, ide take a coho over a dirty chinny anyday!

Well done with the stockings....soon enough we will be catching those beauty, much bigger of course!

  6. Hahahahaha, fly fishermen.

How dare you insult the most prestigious, perfect way to fish, ever created?!

Why, holding a regular fishing rod might as well be holding a Dora rod cuz you're not a man until you've whipped a tiny ass fly out into a river 6 million times to MAYBE land a half decent fish, which would have been much more easily and safely caught with a real rod.

I fly fished for 3 years. What a joke.

Lol, never heard of a 'real rod' elitist before

  7. well... im gunna get a center pin this year...

im gunna get a starter reel.... the okuma aventa...

now i need to know how to spool up and with what line..

    backing?

    mainline...?

im leaning towards 8lb test mainline but what brand do you prefer?

    thnx

Im not a fan of using 8lb main on my CP, i know alot of guys do it but there are a few reasons i would stay away from 8lb...all IMO of course

The aventa is a started reel, it will certainly get the job done, but the tolerances aren't so hot and line can easily get caught up behind the back plate....going with 12 lbs will probably eliminate this problem entirely....

Another reason is the size of fish your going to be targetting, 8lb main and a 4-6 lead line will handle the majority of the steelhead you'll encounter in ontario....but what about the big girls?

I dont know about you but i dont feel i can successfully land and release a 10+ bow with a 4 lbs lead very consistently...

I usually run 12-14 lbs line, floats are expensive compared to most of your terminal tackle....so breaking the mainline is never a worry for me....the majority of the time im running 8lbs leader line, im always using the highlest leader i can get away with, and i only go down to 4lbs if the water im fishing is extremly clear and the fish are spooked....

Otherwise i never go below 6lbs. Ive lost to many trophy steelhead by following the masses and going as light as possible.

Not any more, go big or go home! lol

As for brands i like good ole' Trilene XT, in red....Ive also used raven mainline and dont mind that stuff as well...

Weather you take the beefed up approach or not, i can assure you fishing with the CP will defiantly become an addiction!

    Goodluck

  8. This is such a ridiculously hard question to answer lol....

Way to many variables to consider...

It depends on where your fishing/what your fishing for/what the conditions are/boat or from shore/how much beer Ive consumed/Going for numbers or size/who your fishing with.

On some northern lakes you can catch fish until your arms fall off, some places you have to work hard for every bite....i cant even construct an answer that would be remotely accurate.

  9. I think he is just upgrading for the sake of using 1-2 quality outfits rather then a bunch of medicore stuff...

If it were me in the same situation, I would definitely go with he H action avid...Nothing wrong with having to much rod for the job when it comes to musky, and if your gunna be flippin for bass, or draggin' your frogs over weeds your going to want the extra backbone for when they get all tangled up in the thick stuff.

  10. streamside and quantum are both good steelie rods for the money, over the counter warranty is worth the few extra bucks over your budget

also check the online classifieds, this time of year lots of stuff goign up...I've picked up two st. croix wildriver rods in the past while, one for 80 and the other 100...one new in plastic the other like new condition

You can go for the cheaper version of the streamside too....the 11' or the 13' would be good rods...99$ for the cheaper version....great rod, i have the 11', it was my first float rod.

    Has tonnes of power!
