  1. Murphy point is a beautiful provincial park, Big Rideau lake is awesome. Clear water with lots of structure it offers great laker fishing along with excellent bass and good pike fishing, walleye can also be found in the shallower end of the lake. Lots of privacy at the park and a great launch and nice beaches, canoe rentals and night time activities. They also offer boat in camp sites and have a museum and a store.

I have been to the Rideau the last 13yrs in a row either camping or, more recently, renting a cottage on an island.

Good fishing, nice scenery, clear water....you can't go wrong.

We need to talk, I am glad you helped the OP but I live not 5 mins from Rideau Ferry. I want to get out on the lake but not a clue where to start. I can get to the water so fast, just not a clue where to go on it. Its a rather large body of water.

  2. Very nice Matt. We were also on the Rideau on Saturday, but just south of Manotick. Not much luck here.

Looks like you guys had some pretty good luck. Well done. Now your boat will be even easier to spot on the Ottawa on opening day.

Game plan, follow new Rude E-Tec

  3. I contacted Aikemans to order a part for my Calais. Took my credit card info over the phone, got the park in about a week and a half.

What parts did you order Bill?

I am curious if its going to be plastic like the original part or if I can put on the metal arm that came with the newer model.

  4. my team would be the habs

I was just about to welcome you to the board, then this blasphemy!

When you graduate to a Leafs fan, you will become one with the fish.

Just kidding...welcome to the club sir! (not kidding about the Leafs though :whistling:)

  5. I have a Shimano Stradic 4000FE from about 13 years ago or so. Yes, its on the larger side for spinning reels, but its been a fantastic reel.

The bail arm is made of plastic on the older models and my line has actually cut into it. Now my line continually catches and it will fray any line that touches it, including PP.

My question is, should I contact Shimano customer service to obtain the part, or should I call up Aikemans or another repair shop which is similar? I am living in Perth, so anywhere in Ottawa would be good, or Hamilton, as when I go and visit the friends and family I can stop and pick it up.

I have no clue how much this little piece is going to cost me. I will be replacing the part as well. I can take a pic if you guys want to see what i am talking about.

The part number is 4823. I have the exploded view, but that's it. The reel is discontinued.

Thanks for any help at all.

    Mike

  6. I have had Rogers and Cogeco for combined services and I would take Rogers 10 out of 10 times if I had the choice. (I am currently being screwed by Cogeco again) I have also had Rogers, Bell and Telus for cell service, and again would pick Rogers every time.

Why you ask? No, I do not have any ties to Rogers in anyway. It is simply because they all suck, BUT Rogers will give you stuff for being so bad. No one at Bell speaks English, Telus didn't care if I left, so I did, and Rogers will reduce your bill or give you services for free for being so horrible.

I would love to try a DSL provider like Tekksavy, but they are not available where I currently live. All I know is Cogeco is almost twice as expensive as Rogers for the same services (Phone/Cable/Internet) and their customer service is non-existent. Literally, I am not sure if they have a clue what even bad service is, I can not even get far enough on the phone with them to consider it bad. It ends as soon as I call.

I feel like my last 20 posts have all had negative undertones. Not sure why. Sorry, I just dont think any one of these providers is better then the other for services, only how bad their customer services is.

  7. Thanks for the bump Terry. This post is amazing on so many levels.

I am going to compile my own list of the 20 best. Who wants to be on it? I have as much credibility putting this list together as the person who wrote this article. How can someone say these are the best anglers on the planet?

Amusing to say the least. Thanks for this link. I needed a good laugh today!!! :clapping:

  8. If I were going to buy gear, BPS is definitely the route. I can't see SAIL competing, I was so disappointed the first time I walked into the Train Yards store here in Ottawa. I find BPS has so much more gear.

As for clothing and camping though, they may be able to compete. I didn't see much low end gear at SAIL. It seemed pretty pricy.

Just my 2 cents. They both seriously lack Musky gear. That's the bottom line!!!

  9. Daplumma---man I thought this was the year the Caps shook off the demons so I picked them in my pool.

Alex is the guy...but Semin and backstrom were playing like the fish were bitin in the old country :whistling:

Unfortunately, as good as the Caps are, and as good as Ove is, they will never win a cup with him leading that team.

When Ove becomes a much less selfish player, then he may be able to lead a team to a final. But with 2 minute shifts and he is only in it for the glory of himself, maybe the conference finals in the next few years.

Dont get me wrong, I love watching him play, and he is incredible, but he wont lead any team to a cup under his current mentality and style of play...

  10. Detroit wants it bad but NHL could give it to Columbus.

The NHL put a statement out in the first round (I think) that Detroit will not move to the East.

And no, this deal is not done yet, but should be in the coming days.

  11. I guess for the weekend warrior it's fine.

But in the work world it's crap.

I myself have torn it up putting a engine in the bosses new truck.

Are fork lift(like most)will not reach to the axle.So we have to place

the load at the rear and push the load in.This is when it gets torn up.

A friend at work is a part time scrapper.Always has scrape steel in the back.

With in the year he put back in the liner for their was so much damage done.

    I can go on.But NO!!

Thats odd. I must have a different mix on my truck then. I have slid many things from axle to back of bed and never peeled up. Mine has a soft surface only to the touch, the rest is like steel. You cant chip it at all.

Maybe they have changed how the make this spray now. Dunno. But I agree, for the average person this will work.

  12. I'm from Ottawa. I've never heard of a fishing license, let alone a 'conservation area' until coming here to the GTA and am amazed at big brother police state in Ontario here.

Being from Ottawa has nothing to do with you trolling :clapping: This is the funniest comment I have ever heard. You didnt really think of it before you wrote it though. I have 4 "Conservation Areas" withing 5 kms of my house. I live 45 mins from downtown Ottawa. Ottawa must also not be in Ontario? Which Ottawa are you from? Ottawa PEI?

Where I'm from, you could smoke in restaurants, smoke and drink in a boat, park your boat where you want, even have airplanes parked out in the water out in constance bay.

Oh, you must have just come from 1963. Welcome to 2011. Again, you have succeeding in making me laugh. I have been in Constance Bay 8 times so far this year, not once have I seen a float plane. Yes, as Wayne said, there are 2 guys on Constance Lake that have planes, but not many in the Bay on the River. I have a friend who lives a few mins from Fitzroy, I'll let him know to keep an eye out for you. :whistling:

In Ottawa we never had these rules. Ottawa/Hull area is where I'm from and lear

ned where to fish. Lots of stories from back home. Ottawa river right by the Parliament buildings.

I grew up in Stoney Creek. Near Hamilton. Dafasco and Stelco are there. Right by Burlington Street. Lots of stories too.

I have never learned where to fish though. I learned how to fish. Every time I am out I learn somewhere else to fish.

I dont even know why I wasted my time giving in to you, but I did. I typed to much already to just cancel it. So I am posting.

It would be nice if a mod would just lock this. This guys posts are comical, I know there will be more. So just lock this one and let him start another
