  1. I managed to re-draw a cad drawing on my phone today at work and email it from my iPhone but ya it does suck for work :sarcasm:

A straight line doesn't constitute a CAD drawing Dan. :whistling:

I have had an iPhone and now have a BB. I am going to switch over to Andriod if Rogers ever brings the Captivate SII on board, if not, I am going to plug away with my 9780. I love BBM but thats about it. I do find email on the BB faster and smoother then the iPhone but for the small differences I do miss my iPhone.

My wife just got her iPhone 4 in the mail today, I will play around with it to see if its any better then my old 3G.

Andriod is the way to go though, evolution!!!!!

  2. MAC Book Pro.. our younger daughter would most likely suggest throwing it in the garbage before it lets you down right before a big assignment is almost completed or an exam the next morning!

Ah Wayne, she must have had a lemon. I know at least 30 people including myself that have Macbook Pros and no one has had an issue with any.

Thats too bad. PC's are much worse. I have one too.

  3. wow, there are 2 Musky Mike.

1 with a space, and 1 with out. didn't notice that before now.

Yes, that IMPOSTER signed up not too long ago hahahahah Kidding. MUSKY MIKE with a space has been a regular contributor since he joined which is great. There could be 36 of us, but know I will always be the original. hahahah Kidding (kinda) :clapping:

  4. Agree with BillM - there are a ton of places to fish in Quebec where he can catch pike and walleyes till his arms fall off.

Pourvoirie du Balbuzard Sauvage (Literal translation - "Domain of the savage bald buzzard," ..... lots of ospreys there) is in Abitibi region on Lac Trevet. It's not far from Seneterre, and a good drive north of Ottawa (you want a 4x4). There's a very nice lodge with decent boats and absolutely incredible food, since the owner, Anik, is a certified gourmet chef). The main lake has some mongo pike and walleye, but if he wants numbers then it's best to ATV into the back lakes, which are seldom touched. I had a pretty good time when I went (pike to 45 inches, walleyes to about 8 pounds).

Click here for the lodge website.

I'll let him know. Thanks a lot for this info.

Anyone else that has had any good experiences?

  5. I'm not secluded... St Lawrence river... But I get loads of walleye and I don't get pike... But I can sub in musky instead...

And I'm only an hour away

I think he is looking for a lake in the middle of no where type of camp. Or lodge. He tends to fish this area a lot and wants to experience somewhere different. There must be some camps people have been to that they enjoyed...hopefully.

  6. Hey guys,

Here is the situation, I have a buddy that wants to go for a weekend or week trip to catch as many walleye and pike as he can in the period he spends on the lake. He asked me to throw something out on here to see what all of you recommend. This is what he is looking for:

    1) Walleye and Pike

    2) within 10 driving hours of Ottawa

    3) no fly-ins

    4) price is not an object

    5) food plans are not important (only a bonus)

    6) as secluded as possible

    7) he is American

If anyone can help out and recommend something for him or multiples, it would be very appreciated. I told him to go to Kesagami but he doesnt want the fly-in nor the distance. (I found it too expensive).

Anyways, any help would be awesome.

    Thanks

  7. All I can say, in comparison, IMO, the PP does not compare. I used the PP for 2 weekends; I ruined 3 shirts that due to green dye stains and had to clean my reels each weekend due to an abundance of green fiber build-up all over everything. I really do not like have green hands at the end of a day of fishing. In comparison to P-line Spectex, the PowerPro frays like crazy, screams on the rod guides and bring back much more water.

As for flouro leads, maybe I just dont feel comfortable with a gouge out for the line. I pick my flouro leaders up from JB's and they sell their stuff for $5.99 each i beleive (12" @130lbs), so I dont mind throwing them away. I have never given it the old pull test... but maybe I will give it a try. I have broken a few Ti leaders ( i exclusively use Terminator - Zero kink even with pliers), but the failure point in always either the swivel or the loop above it. We are taking on a leader that sees 100 days of fishing though.

This is exactly what these threads are for. Here is a perfect example of some good some bad. Like I said, the line does bleed the first few times but after that its perfectly fine. I am willing to try other lines, I have just had no reason to. Every year I reverse my line on my reels and take off the first 20 feet or so. As for the leaders, I make my own, I have yet to have a problem with them (knock on wood) even with nicks and such.

But like I said, its good to have opinions from both sides. It should help (or confuse) anyone that is looking for information.

  8. Just drove thru it on Friday. I live just down the road. Nice park. Lake looks very promising. Not sure where to go or what to fish for but I have heard good things. Hopefully someone else from the area can help you out.

PS. It wont take you 4 1/2 hours from Woodbridge. As long as you can get through the Yorkdale-115 stretch with decent traffic, it shouldnt take you more then 3 to a max 3.5 hours. I drive to Stoney Creek/Hamilton all the time and its only 3.5 hours.

  9. Not all line is created equal either. A lot of guy use PowerPro, but IMO, it is garbage. Best muskie braids on the market that are easy to find here locally are:

P-Line Spectrex (I best I have found to date)

    Suffix 832

    Cortland Masterbraid

Reason I dislike the PowerPro is it bleeds its pigments all over your hands, close, rod, reel. It also seems to carry a lot of water back with it and you litteraly get soaked in comparison to the rest. I find that the P-line Spectrex and the Suffix have a much tighter braid and smaller diameter to them than the PowerPro as well. 85# Spectrex is about the same diameter as 50#PP.

For leaders, I like Titanium. I use 12 and 18" Terminator leaders. I have also used Floro leaders 150# +, but you need to inspect them all the time. If you have even a knick in the line, trash it.

I have to disagree with a few points here, but its just my opinion. I strictly use PP. I it lasts forever first of all, it bleeds the first 1/4 of the season then thats it, and i don tfind it retains much water at all. I have 80# on my spring and summer and 100# on my fall rods.

The 150# flouro also lasts forever. I have had some leaders last more then 4 years on regular use. even with a small nick they are fantastic. If you are feeling uneasy about it, take it off and put one end on a nail that is nailed into something solid, thread another nail thru your hoop on the other end and pull. I have yet to be able to snap one.

I have tried the titanium leaders and although they claim they dont kink, they do. VERY easily. And they are very expensive. I like the titanium for pike but not for musky. I will stick to floro all day long.

Again, try them all out, I have heard good things about the Courtland line as well, see what you like, if you are just starting out, the start up costs seem overwhelming, but as soon as you put your first 50" in the boat, everything goes away.

  10. 50 lb. Floro is too light to use as a Muskie Leader. 130 lb. as a minimum. If your leader is cut you will lose an expensive lure and WE will lose a fish.

Agreed. I use 150# seaguar to make my leaders with stay locks #4 or #5.

I would much rather lose a fish then lose a lure...but then again I am cheap. I wouldn't go under 80# on line either, but thats just me.

  11. Thanks guys, very good advise much appreciated..I am busy going through all the info I can get will up some of my tackle too..just in case.. handled some good size pike before, but this sounds different, and I don't want to get hooked by a musky lure. I'd be a little shocked if I hook a good size fish my first time out :whistling: !

Okay, how do I say this in the nicest way possible...

Your safety is of our concern, but the fishes safety, longevity and well being is of a much greater concern. You catching the fish will not kill you, but can very well be fatal to a musky. Please handle them with care is all we are saying. Have the right net. Good luck out there.
