  1. I took my new kayak out on its maiden voyage at Shades mill conservation area. I hadn't paddled a kayak in 20 years but it was like riding a bike.

I had a bit of success and caught 2 snot rockets. One was about 18" and the other was 16".

    Not a bad day

  2. So, I've always wanted one and now that my inlaws have a cottage in a small lake paradise I decided to start looking. I got a call from my wife saying that there was a big sale at Sail so I drove over to Sail in cambridge and saw one that I was looking at $200 off.

So I now have a Pelican Maverick 120. A nice 12'. I was told because of my size and because I'll be fishing from it, a 12' was necessary so I have a more stable base.

Can wait to take it out!

  3. Now for a funny! Years ago went fishing the 30,000 islands out of Parry Sound, at the dock we met OPP boat coming in from patrol. Asked how the Mosquitos were out there and "they pulled their Guns" and to quote "we have these", what a great laught we had with them.

WE don't need anymore gun crap.

what the hell? That's not good.......how unprofessional

  4. The weather here on the Bruce has been brutal.

I managed to get me ten year old and seven year old out to fish for the first time this year. My oldest got two decent smallies both about 1lbs and fought like hell.

My youngest is a gobie slayer lol.

I went out this morning and it was 16 degrees, rain and 25kmph winds and was unpleasant without a rain suit lol

  5. So, I got the okay from my wife to start fishing again which is fantastic. I still have a bit of my gear - I think. I found all my rods, my waders and boots, hell even some of my old boxes of lures.... too bad I can't find my good reels lol....

On the positive note I get to go shopping!

  6. Lol it's all good. I'm the one encouraging my inlaws. Every property in the area is well maintained and the one they bought was neglected for 8 years so you can understand that it needs a little work but man I can see red bay from the porch. Such a gorgeous calm area

  7. I believe you are talking about MAR, ON.

Bass and maybe even pike below Sauble falls now, but the onset of fall will bring on the Salmon, and then Steelhead. A great place to fish for them!

A beautiful stream to fish, but beware of the wood slabs below the wire at the falls. They must have a huge collection of lures, hooks, and various fishing appliances....

    Yes... damn sausage fingers

  8. Hey guys,

My inlaws just bought a cottage in Mer, on the Bruce Peninsula. They are 5 minutes from sauble falls and I'm going to be getting back into fishing.

I was wondering if there would be native trout still in the river near the falls or will I be hooking into bass?

Thanks for the help, I couldn't find much of anything in terms of info on line.
