  1. OK just bough myself a second one today...nice reel for sure...and price seem OK with this sale. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  2. I see the Pflueger Presidential spinning reel on sale this week at CT for $49.99 ($30 off). It is a great reel and I already have one but maybe getting a second one. Can't remember what was the price last time. So wanted to ask you if the $49.99 is a good one compared to past CT sales? Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  3. South East of Port Burwell, quite the distance from there though...over 15 miles one way... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  4. He sure did Brian. Same as the one on your boat. You actually can see part of the hose on one of the last pictures. Not to worry, we'll only do that with walleye on your new boat Just pick the day Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  5. Long planned trip aboard Dave's perch destroyer came to reality this morning as me, my boys and my neighbor and his daughter started fishing around 8:30am...by Noon we had 300 in the HUGE cooler Dave uses...and that thing is huge...non stop action all the time...kids got tired few times took brakes and kept going after the breaks...I got super tired baiting and releasing two rods...Big Dave was very gracious teaching my neighbor's daughter the ropes of perch fishing all morning...and they were doing great together as you'll see from the shots bellow[] My neighbor couldn't believe his eyes what fantastic fishery there is down there...And I was the happiest just watching all the smiles and enjoying the jokes shared...top notch day for sure....now...problem started when we got home...solid 5 hrs cleaning perch ...had enough fish cleaning for this year for sure...take more time to clean them than to catch them[:0]There were 5-6 x 13.5 - 14 inchers, over 50 x 13 inchers lots of 10-12" and few 9" fish...very solid size for sure. Have to weight all the fillets but easy 50-60 lbs between 5 of us plus the ones Dave got...lets just say there will be lot of beer used with all this perch ha ha ha[8D] So thanks go to Big Dave big time. Guys were asking about going perching with him...all I can tell you is fishing in general doesn't get much better than that and perching definitely is the best there is....can't go wrong...nice big new and very fast boat, lots of space....nice guy to guide those who need it...what else can one ask for....so those on the fence ...go for it...you'll be happy you did. Now to the pictures: Some hogs were caught by all but mainly by the kids: Probably 100 of double headers... Big Dave teaching the lady: My neighbor: Jordan in action. He got the biggest fish today. Nice 14" pig. : Alex' learning fast too: And helping the girl: Now here is Big Dave himself. The Pro getting his hooks baited by the lady on board: Some crazy guys....7 of them in a 18 foot boat: The famous cooler: The total: Some "average" perch[]: Jordan biggest one and the next closest: Hope you've enjoyed the shots as much as we've enjoied our day.[] Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  6. The blue and green flies worked best and go us good size fish of the dipsies. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  7. Went with two of my neighbors early this morning. They've been trying to plan a trip with me for couple years and today happened to be the day It started in a hurry...10 seconds after the first line got in the water (5:30am) they were fighting their first king....took them a while but got it in the boat....21.5 Lbs...tried reviving it for 20 min but couldn't do it so they kept it.... From there it got wild....several double headers by 8:15am...then it all shut down as soon as the east wind picked up...so much for the weather forecast been wrong...yet again....so for about 2 hrs of fishing we've hooked 28 fish....they lost half of them though....got tired....couldn't stand on their feet ha ha ha As usual I was just the driver Amazing thing was almost all fish were large kings....high teens low twenties....largest was 23 lbs....some big bows as well...and for the first time this year no cohos....Heard lot of guys on the radio with 1 to 3 fish caught so I guess we got to the right place at the right time...Can't believe how suddenly the bite completely shut off....it was like all fish evaporated at 8:15am.... Spoons (black/purple and black/green) did well and both dipsies (wire and braid) with blue and silver flies all got lots of big fish....All fish came in the 130 fow zone 50-80 feet down....later on we moved all the way to 240 but got only couple more small bows and they've lost them...temps got super hot the deeper we went...white caps made it unpleasant so we called the day at 11:30. All smiles guys were very happy as neither of them got that many big fish before....they went to start the BBQ and the beer I'll add some pictures later on when they email them to me as they took some... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  8. hahaha yes you are right not the 35+ last few times but not bad concidering I moved a bit away from my stomping ground....not to worry I'll improve the numbers shortly ;-) This has really been one of the best fishing on lake O. I've seen... And yes the key for the big ones is deeper....and flies.... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  9. Sure is...I've kept it as it had a deformed mouth and got nailed deep...not many cohos today...usually we get lots of them....just couple today... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  10. Decided to take advantage of the calm day and take the kids to out back yard...lake O. that is...they haven't been out with me for salmon lately as their newest hobby is perch now[8D] Started at 6am after stop at Tim Hortons...not many boats were launched ahead of us....good as we wanted to avoid the zoo that will be tomorrow for the start of the salmon derby... dropped lines at 100 fow....super cold....it was in the low 40-s down 25 feet....the deeper we went the warmer water got...number of bows wanted to play first couple hours...just 2 cohos but bigger than average....by 9am we were in 250 fow and the big boys came out...one broke the tip of my medium heavy Daiwa dipsy rod...and another broke my 40 lbs fluoro leader behind the wire dipsy and took away flasher and fly....expensive trip for sure as I stopped at Short Wave on the way back and spent $60 for flasher.flies replacement and new spool of Seaguar 50 pbs leader material...will try to fix the tip of the rod though it'll be few inches shorter... My team went for 3 hrs sleep recovery mode while I had couple double headers and one quadruple....a bit of a challenge managing all rods net and cell phone camera....so most pictures were in the water as I wanted to release the fish sooner rather than later for better chance of survival in this super hot weather...Boys took turn on the rods and are doing much better after several years of on the job training ha ha ha[] Spoons and flies all worked with flies bringing bigger fish...25-55 feet down...21/27 final score for the morning. We were lucky first couple hours in the morning sky was all clouds...left by 11am with recharged teammates all smiles.... Few shots from the day: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  11. Took the kids and wife to lake Erie yesterday. Great day for all...morning with hundreds of perch for the kids on friend's boat and beach relaxation for the wife. Everyone's happy Lost track of the doubles...I used to do lot of perching on Simcoe but doing it for second year on Erie and let me tell you...it is many many times better bite and better/larger fish than Simcoe. Amazing fishery for sure. Got an easy 4 men limit by 11am. Few shots bellow: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  12. Early start at 5am...finished at Noon...25/30 final score...had a friend/charter guy from Lake Erie on board today...hence the better landing ratio...Dave owns a perch fishing charter at Long Point and I can highly recommend him, nice guy, big new boat and always catches tons of nice big perch.... We've go some big Kings up to 23 Lbs...tons of cohos and bows...everything worked...flies...spoons (black/purple, and black/green did great as it was cloudy all morning. 48-62 feet down in 130-260 fow....marked lot of fish earlier in the morning...less marks later on but still getting hits...lovely day with great company/....lots of fish....no much more one can ask for..... Few shots from the day: Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  13. Lovely video and great report Simon. All I can say is keep them coming Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  14. Thanks guys. Yeah didn't take pictures of the cohos only of the bigger kings. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  15. hahaha Brian we've left some for you ;-) Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  16. Started at first light finished at Noon... first fish a small shaker King....kept moving out...found the perfect down temp (47-48 degrees down 55 feet) and the show began....5 triple headers...3 double headers...final score was 17/32...most Cohos but much larger ones vs. last few trips...some big Kings screamers(in the high teens and twenties) and 4-5 big bows in the mix as well...almost no wind...perfect weather...catch ratio wasn't perfect but we were having a bit of training session on board for some of the teammates today Nevertheless everyone were happy and smiles year to year...several total chaos situations as you can imagine with so many triples...everything was firing...8 colors leadcore...2 riggers (50-60 down), and 3 dipsies (2 power pro and one wire with flies)....green, blue, yellow spoons... watermelon...all were performing great.... the only bad part was some equipment damage....lost two A-Tom-Mik flies (both got the fly line broken even though I was checking it regularly)....and lost my Chrome 15# Shark.... :'( :-\ :-[ So a pricey trip but well worth it action wise....we stayed in 250-270 fow. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  17. I need to repair some small tears in my boat's vinyl seats. Tears are about or less than an inch in length. Want to take care of them before getting to big. Has anyone attempted to do this and what would be the best and economical way to complete the job? Any kits one can buy? Thanks. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  18. Thanks Roy. Did just that...and it worked. I do have Firefox on my other PC but need to keep IE9 on this one, so your solution was welcome. Considering lots of people are using IE9 it's good there is a solution. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  19. Thanks for posting as this now seems to be some bug with the site not with my browser.... Hope the mods see this and fix it Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  20. Using IE9...it has always worked fine before....until today...I do try to click on the arrow...but as soon as I do that...for split second the drop menu shows up and then it closes itself automatically and I et redirected to "my profile" page...just cleaned up the temporary Internet files, cookies, etc... and restarted the browser - same problem ... Cheers, Emil
  21. Not sure what happened and why...but every time (today)I try to click on my own user name at the upper right corner of the screen to bring up the sub menu and select my PM's from there, it keeps kicking me onto my own profile page. Can't get over it...tried logging on and off many times...same problem persist?!? Any ideas? Is it my/my computer of the board is buggy today? Thanks, Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  22. Can't speak from personal experience on both counts Simon but from what little I know on those issues you sure deserve congratulations on firmly standing your ground. Good for you Bud! Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  23. I was at the Mississauga South Costco. It is the one on Dundas St West, just east of 403. It does say breathable but obviously I haven't tested that personally yet.... Cheers, Ice Fisherman
  24. For the die-hard fishermen out there who are fishing not always in ideal weather conditions. Just bought a real nice Wetskins rainsuit from Costco yesterday. Originally priced at $69.99 it is not on clearance at $39.97. Waterproof and breathable fabric, several different colors and good size selection for the male sizes. It is two pieces suit with plenty of pockets and various adjustments. Comes with a detachable hood as well. Great quality and unconditional Costco warranty. Ideal for the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, etc. The Costco code for those who want to check stock ahead of time is: 205 950 Here is a photo on the female suit (look is the same but codes are different). When I checked yesterday there was plenty of stock in Mississauga South, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and Sudbury. The one I bought was black and love how it feels and looks. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
