  1. First off it depends what you are pushing. I had a 50 rude on my boat and top speed in the right conditions was 28-30 mph. Most of the time it was around 25. The boat can play a lot into what the speed is. Now if it is the same boat and you have had it at much higher speeds, then I can't help you.

  2. Gas is usually cheapest in Kingston, around this part of the world anyways. As for the lake. I have barely heard of it, but know nothing about it. The fishing has been great in this area, I'm guessing it could be the same there. Although it does change hourly here, gets frustrating sometimes.

  3. Wow, sounds like you are buying a boat from the Marina that I got my first one from. Absolute horendous service. They should have done the work for you. But the others have already told you what to do. Make sure you have the serial number for them. Don't forget the trailer as well.

With this boat being only 3 weeks old, and having this many problems I am guessing it is a used boat? I would seriously consider taking it back. You should not be having problems buying from a marina right away. Can only guess what you are going to experience a year from now.

  4. Great pics, always good to see the kids smiling. It didn't rain up there, I was on Gin so I know. The lake just got tipped upside down on our heads. As for the opener not being that good? I know the lake right beside were on fire with the bass. Must have come over via the creeks.

  5. The weekend started for me on Friday night. Up till midnight packing the boat and all the gear. Got up at 3 in the morning to go to the cottage. Had to boat into the cottage in the pouring rain. As soon as the boat was unpacked out fishing I went. On my third cast I landed into a 21 inch (no signage for the contest) 4 pound largy. The weeknd was hot action all the time. The rain let up and the fish just kept on hitting. There were a lot of trucks and trailers at the landing, but no boats on our lake, not a problem for me.

The last cast of the day landed me a 20 inch 6.8 pound large mouth. It was short for what it was. It was a football. Tall, huge, I wish the pictures showed it better.

We called it a weekend early and came home Monday morning. I was tired from lifting a bunch of heavy weights, and my wife was homesick. Went back out on Canada Day here at home with my wife. The action was just as good here, although everybody said it sucked? Tamara (my wife) managed to finally catch her first fish, a 2.5 smallie. She was exstatic, as was I. We quickly had to turn around to hit the same spot to get the rest of them for her.

For a lousy weather weekend, I forgot all about it because I was into so many fish. I wish it could always be like this.

  6. Hey we all get in slumps. It'll be a great day to get out and fish with your dad, shoot the breeze and feel that drip drip drip down the back of your neck. I'm heading out with two rainsuits for the weekend expecting the worse. If the sun comes out and I land a whopper, that'll just put the icing on the cake.

Enjoy your day of peace on the water.

  7. I filled up Thursday. I said once it gets below 130, I'm getting it while it's cheap :wallbash: 129.9 is what I paid. Truck and boat are full. I'll go through a tank in the truck, but not much in the boat. I figure I'll spend about the same or less than last year because of the more fuel efficiant motor. As for the marinas, I live at one and I remember seeing 140 plus a few weeks ago. I gerry can my fuel, as I do not need to fill up dockside. I just do it after they leave so I don't rub it in their face.

  8. I own a Lund Angler Tiller - 16'3 and 80" wide. Really like it. Very stable and quiet ride. Lund make real quality boats that will last a long time if cared for.

I have a 40hp 4stroke and go 25-28 mph on calm water. The bonus is being able troll at slow speeds with the 40hp, with 75hp you may need a kicker or something if you plan on doing any trolling.

Good boat for 2 ppl with 3ppl crowded but manageable.

Things are looking good for this boat. I know the 75 will be too much to troll with, I use a drift sock to get down there in speed. Being that this motor is only a few weeks old, it is coming with me. I will be getting a kicker eventually (hope my wife doesn't read this). I don't troll much to begin with so I'm not too concerned.

  9. Does anyone have this boat or seen this boat. I am torn between it or the Lund 1675 Explorer ss. The site is very "shy" on the specs for this boat. Also wanting to know how it handles ect. Being that it is 16'3. I will be putting a 75 E-tec on either one as far as power goes.

  10. I agree with the others. You might be outta luck. I would guess that several people took next week off because Canada Day falls in the middle. Gonna take a lot of checking around. The one thing you have on your side is that gas is up so people may not want to travel, esspecially from the US. Good luck and have fun where ever you end up.

  11. I too am looking at boats. I am concentrating on side consol. Main reason is to be able to see a bit more and be in a straiter position for runnin' and gunnin'. I'm getting 45 mph right now and prefer the console. during the colder months it's nice to block the wind.

Like you I am looking at the Lund Rebel or Explorer. I will also be putting on a small kicker for trolling because my 75 is just too much for trolling.

I know there is a 2005 1600 Explorer (new)here in the area going for $8400 boat only set up as tiller, but the guy also has a console to add if prefered.

  12. It depends. If you wait for end of year sales, you get what is left over. Not neccissarilly what you want. There are some good deals out there right now. I am just having a hard time trying to figure out what I want. I think I have the boats narrowed down, I just have to decide.

    Good luck on your hunt.
