  1. And northern pikeminnows (which are not northern pike and are not minnows) are actually FUN to catch.  But in central BC, where I was catching them, the fish have quite a different name.  I guess political correctness caught up with them, OK fine, but surely to God they could have come up with a better name!!!

  2. ARTIFICIAL CORN:

you know, corn made of soyabeans and fertilized with JT's broken promises, token apologies, gun grab statements and other PURE  S**T.

Artificial, like the man in other words.  Do we need artificial corn?  Do we need phony politicians???

Got my new card in the mail maybe 2 weeks after ordering online.  Painless.

Painless, yes for sure, once a person could do it.

My beef is they could TELL US on the website that one cannot renew until such and such a date.  OR, why not allow a person to renew two months in advance, or three, or ???  It strikes me as bureaucracy of the worst order to deny permission to renew until only a month is left in the card.

because after I'm done trying to get boneless fillets, there's only small pieces left

One of my fishing buddies is a whiz at filleting pike (and leaving the bones on the carcass!)  He has shown me several times, hands on instruction, but the lessons so far have not stuck.  We have been catching some nice pike, 6 to 8 pounds and chunky, while fishing for perch.  Exciting on an ultralight with 3 pound test!  And boneless pike are very toothsome pan-fried, and also very good smoked.

  5. Got it, thanks.  Frozen fish beat the heck out of no fish, but I hear you loud and clear.  I really like smoking the whities also, but it has been many moons since I caught enough to make that worthwhile!

    Thanks for the comeback!

  6. You released a whitefish???  Please help me out here, a confused Southeastern Ontario fellow.......

....are you not allowed to keep whitefish?  Or you just don't prefer them?  If I had a choice between a whitie and a walleye on the plate, the whitie would be on the menu.

We had minus 16 on my back deck yesterday morning, so Kingston might well get ice before year end.  Here's hoping!  Thanks for whetting my appetite!

There are a number of companies capable of issuing cards here in the GTA. Priced themselves out of contention?

It is the entire licencing system that Ontario offshored.  Purchasing printing and mailing the OC but also purchasing and issuing the tags, etc etc.

But the skeptic in me thinks the Ontario government of the day probably had a POLITICAL reason for this decision..........

  8. Once you are old and arthritic, you will appreciate a two piece suit.  And unless you are nick-named Horsey, you might find that it is easier to take a leak when wearing a two piece suit.  (I am thinking here of male anglers...)

Salus has top-notch stuff, and they are Canadian as mentioned above.  I have their floater bibs, and an older Canadian navy surplus top.  When that top's time is done, I will be buying a Salus top to replace it.

I have not tried the FXR floater stuff, but have a pair of their rain pants (bibs) and I am delighted with them.
