  1. my dad has went there a few times times. The sail fish fishing cab be awesome if you go deep sea/
  2. I haven't tried to fix the holes. I guess i could silicon them but i'd likely just make a mess
  3. I have one with a plastic roof got it at costco. The wind doesn't bother it i just screwed it in my deck and it's sturdy it had like two feet of snow on the roof eariler this winter . The only downside is the roof is like a corrugated plastic ( two layers the same construction as cardboard) and it isn't very resisant to hail mine is got a lot hail holes in the top layer.
  4. I was wondering if anyone has been to this lake in the past. What is the fishing like? The ontario fish eating guide only lists northern pike, are there any other species? There is very little info on this lake online. Is there an outfitter on this lake? Any other help would be appreciated feel free to PM if you like. Thanks walleyebob
  5. It's actually surprising how much water level changed over the week. With all the rain it probably raised 6 inches because on our trip in we had to do a growling portage because on river was to low to travel up but on our way home there was more than enought water. We actual meet 3 aluminum boats on this intermediate lake that required a push over a beaver dam up this river we couldn't access on our way there coming home. Talking to them they didn't have alot of luck on that lake so we didn't even stop to fish it. They were saying they were there like 10 years ago and the pike fishing was amazing and this time they had no luck. They were actually trying to scout out getting to the lake we were at but there is no way they could get there aluminum boats how far it was They were still 2 lakes away with 2 portages of 1-2 km each.

  7. Oh yes, i'd prefer to carry a motor a few km's than too have to paddle around all week plus even a 2hp is alot faster to get were your going According to my friends gps were were 9.9 km/hr and we had one loaded canoe.
  8. It was a great time. I had alway's wondered how much better the fishing the fishing would be on this lake because i had fished a near by lake that had easier access ( logging road pretty much right to the lake) and the fishing was ok some days. We actually stayed on this lake the last evening and could even get a nibble. Yes i did pack out the oil , actually had planned on changining the oil before hand because honda reccommends every 20 hrs in the manual( seems not very long too me) which we were well over. One interesting thing we did see was the last night we were trolling into a river mouth and at first it looked like a beaver swimming across (could just see a wave in the distace). As we got closer , on one side of the river a large lyxn runs into shore and into the bush and on the other bank a wolf runs in the bush on the other side. I have no idea who was chasing who neither were too small but it was quite a sight, and would never have thought i'd see that. Never did see any moose or bear.
  9. I thought i'd report on my August fishing trip. Me and a buddy had sevn days to go go up north and do some fishing and exploring. I had bought a 14ft sportspal transom and a 2 hp honda engine which i love mainly for this trip and future ones (The last night i dropped the engine in the lake and thought but the next morning after a quick oil change it started right up after a few pulls. I spent that night thinking about the possible 25 km or so paddle out ) I wish i had pictures but our camera got wet the first day , i swear it rained everyday At least it was warm enough things were able to most dry out between showers. In all we did fairly well with a 25" walleye being the largest walleye that we released. It's funny we stopped to fish this small pothole lake/ pond on our way out and in 2 hours we caught 14 chuck 27-28 " pike which were more and bigger pike than we caught in the main target lake. On our first night we camped beside this lake and heard several large splashs on the lake but never did try that night because we were so tired . It was an 8 hr drive and 2 1km plus portages up to this point in the rain . I am definitely looking forward to next year and trying a new spot. I thinking next year we are going to try an even more remote spot and hopefully get into some true quality fishing
  10. Iam going to rice lake in august any info would be great.
  11. Ya i'm not really worried about the people there i keep to myself, i just don't want a huge fine . I'll keep my eyes open for signs i guess.
  12. I've been researching a route into an unnamed lake up north (chapleau area) and came across someone saying that only those that payed to go on a fly in trip there can fish the lake. It is on crown land how can that be ? if i put the effort to portage to this i should be allowed to fish there i feel. I have heard of the mnr plowing up old logging roads to restrict access, but is it actually illegal if i make it to this lake and fish? I've always thought that crown land was available to be used by all residents of this country not just for those rich enough to pay for it.
  13. How was the trip? i'm thinking of heading up there in a few more weeks.
  14. i doubt you'll make in a 2 wd especially if up they have been getting as much rain as we have, hopefully your vechile has a fairly high wheel base if you are going to try. The road to bisco is no comparison , ive been to both. Just so you know oppessesway lake has high mercury there's an old gold mine on it. Good luck hopefully you have some pics of yor trip.
  15. One more question. I've fished for walleyes a quite a bit with limited success. Where should i be focusing on in the second week of september for them ? In the current , above below rapids. Or drop offs or in the shallows. I plan on bringing worms and minnows as well as some liver because im going to try night fishing for cat fish while i believe are there as well.
  16. My plan was to launch at at the hartley bay marinia and camp and explore the area for the week as well as fish. How would the fishing for pickerel below recollet falls be ? I only have a backroads book map of the area for now i figured that i could get a better map somewhere closer up there. I have no idea how much of the river is accessable from the hartely bay marina, i figure there has to be a few miles. I've fished dry pine bay in the ninety's and the fishing was just ok, i'm hoping this section is a little more remote and the fishing is a little Better.
  17. When you say the dalles rapids are impassable by boat , why are they ? Is it too shallow ? or is it just to fast and dangerous. I was going to bring a canoe as well as a 12 ft tinny, would it be possible with a canoe to shot the rapids or even string it along from shore?
  18. I'm planning a camping/ fishing trip to the french river on the georgian bay side the second week of september. Any tips or info on what to expect would be appreciated. Should the pickerel be running this time of year. I've always wanted to try fishing west of hwy 69 on the french hopefully it's good.
  19. I'm going to be staying at a cottage on the ontario side near the old mission narrows.
  20. I'm going to Lake Temiskaming for the long weekend and was hoping to get into some pickerel . Never been there this time of year and was wondering where they are and what to use ( ie. worms , minnows or downrig with lures). I'm going to to be staying near the narrows on the southern end of the lake any help would be appreciated.
  21. How is the fishing in the Midland area this time of year. Me and a friend are going fishing tommorrow but have no idea of where to try. I only have a 12 aluminum boat so big water is out of the question. we are in the barrie area and don't want to travel much more than an hour or so since it's only a day trip. Any lake suggestions would be appreciated.
  22. I typically use minnows on a jig head , i have tried trolling rapalas and such without much luck also. It's a very deep lake i just bougth a fish finder and am think of trying down rigging because i marked most of the fish down 70-100ft on my last outing.
