  1. Ok, I can never see which way a  thing can go with you brudder. Serious, not serious. Who  knows?????

I'll take the advice with more than a grain of salt. Now why would I want to whack a wasp that did notin' to me. Doesn't owe me money, didn't mess around with my lady or any of me brudders ladies, notin'. Now why would we whack that person? If that were to transpire why whack em' anyways. A dead Whasp is a good Whasp. Take the "s "away and we have a racial thing ready to explode.

As far as bubble gum with Gin can Vodka be interchanged with Gin? If so I am with ya.

We have only had 5 cases since the pandemic was declared and testing began.

That doesn't mean there weren't other cases, they just happened before testing.

The docs are 99% sure I had it in February and March. I am still recovering and docs say there's still a while to go before I'm back to 100% again.

For 5 months I couldn't do anything as I was too weak and couldn't breathe.

You most likely had it. I just hope there hasn't been any long term damage done. To have had it and come out the other end unscathed is rare. I pray you are rare. I have far too much information concerning this dreaded disease.  When I was tested at the beginning of July I was to my surprise told that the test is only 70% accurate. I am going in to get tested next week, my shortness of breath is not getting better. A customer of my wife's husband that was 60 years old and in good health died suddenly when they were taking a walk one evening. They tried to get into see their family Doc and were told the Dr. wasn't available and would do an examination over the telephone. If it worsens call 911 and or go to the emergency at the local hospital. Something I have done in the last 6 months. I don't know how blood pressure, heart rate, breathing etc. is determined over a telephone. These new phones can do amazing things but turning into a Doctor isn't one,,, ,,,,,yet. Long story short the gentleman found it almost impossible to get any air to the point his wife dialed 911. Sadly before the Paramedics arrived he had lost consciousness and was dead on arrival to the hospital. This was in Haldimand County, Caledonia specifically. Autopsy results showed heart disease of which the name currently eludes me. I find I am saying that more and more these days. Congestive Heart Failure, that was it. I remember!! No one wants to wait for hours, alone, in the emergency dept. in a hospital but don't let it slide.

Everyone, please get medical treatment and advise before it's too late.

  3. When I bought this lake front cottage 23 years ago it came with a hoard of Mud Wasps, also known as Mud Daubers down south. They chew up soft wood and regurgitate it to build their hives. They were everywhere. In between the wall studs were nests or hives as high as 5' in between the 2x4's. We had to use shovels to clean them all out. When the cottage was gutted back to dimensional lumber I had it sprayed by a pro exterminator. I have not seen a wasp since. In the last week there are 6 or more wasps flying around at any given time. They are so dozy all you need to do is pick them up by hand with a tissue and throw them out the door. They don't sting, or haven't stung us, ever. I haven't been given any definite advise from Home Hardware or the folks at CTC for what to use and how to get rid of them for good. I thought for sure TSC would have an answer, no such luck. The Pro's are taking about a 4 day plan including us staying away for 48 hours, no pets for 5 full days and a invoice of nearly a grand, that would be almost $1000.00 and no guarantee, oh my.  Why they have shown up after 23 years is strange. I will ask my neighbors if I see them.  My neighbors are unique. 1 has a 5th wheel set up in a park with a small man made lake about 1.5 hrs drive away that they travel with in the winter and  the other lives about 1/2 hr away on a farm and hasn't spent a single night here in at least 5 years. It makes for quiet times here but makes me wonder if it's me!!! My wife says it might just be I.

Any advice from you folks here?
    Thanks Johnny D.

Flat jerk chicken today. Just prepping the newfie tater salad :). Need to go out and get some jerk seasoning. Just seen I have none. DOH.:wallbash:

I copied a recipe for Jerk rub from the interweb. Surprisingly we had 90% of the herb in the 4 cupboards. But that 90% are all stale. The only herb that  is better dried than fresh is Oregano.  Any of you fine folks have a Jerk rub or marinade sauce they would be so kind to share.

  5. Cisco, you sure state many things and well written may I add, I believe that to you they are all facts, some you say is in your opinion and that is good to clarify. But man that still leaves a load of facts to check for there accuracy.  I have an Uncle that has full blown dementia that has been in a long term care facility in Hamilton going on 14 years. We have found the accommodations and the professionalism of staff excellent. So I wouldn't paint every LTC facility with the same brush.

Oh so lets push the union stuff again.  There are companies out there that do quite well without blood sucking unions to skim off the top.

A prime example are the 2 steelmakers in Hamilton. Stelco and Dofasco ArcelorMittal. Since that has zero to do with this thread I will stop there.

I haven't been on the site for a while as I was fairly ill. About 4 weeks a go started getting a lot of mucus in my chest and a cough then I would get shortness of breath for sometimes 20 minutes. As it got worse I made an appointment to get tested for C-19. I had to answer a series of health related questions on the phone and answered an overview of where I have been and with whom I had come in contact with. I was to immediately start a 14 day quarantine. The health worker asked if my wife who is an essential worker be able to move out of the house until results are in..  Not doable. A few days later I had an appointment to get tested at our local hospital. Went to the drive in test area and 2 nurses came out to the truck, checked my Health Card then stuck a long plastic stick up each of my nostrils until they hit the back of my sinus. Uncomfortable but not extremely painfull. Results in 3 days, negative thankfully. However the individual on the phone told me something I was surprised at. The test is only 70% accurate. That's not good. I had to complete my quarantine. A telephone appointment with my family Doc and some anti biotics faxed to the pharmacy and all is good.  A few times I was somewhat concerned I might be a statistic. Once I was able to go out I was somewhat depressed how some people in our society are ignoring what our scientists and politico's are begging us to do.  I see young children under their parents supervision as well as seniors basically ignoring social distancing, no masks, no social distancing. This past weekend was a scorter and the beaches here along the lake were packed. Cottages had 4 cars or more parked in the driveways and on lawns. I know they all don't live under the same roof. Blow up water toys with swimmers hanging off them were everywhere. Small swim platforms were packed with people shoulder to shoulder. If that continues we may never get out of this thing before we have Covid-20 to deal with.

  7. Best of luck to you GeraldT. 4th Saturday in June can never get here too early. I won't be fishing from the boat, but will toss some hardware from the shore. My fishing partners wife is flipping out about this coved thing as they have 3 little grand babies and is afraid my buddy is going to get the virus from me I guess if we fish together. It seems all my old fishin' pals are too old to go out fishing in the boat, so they say. Maybe they just don't want to go in the boat with me!!!! I know my wife won't fish with me anymore. We got caught in a storm here on Erie and it was touchy to say the least and promised The Lord if we didn't drown she will never go out on this lake again.

Look at your wind and weather reports 1st thing that Saturday AM. Things can change rapidly on this lake. I use sailflow.com and windfinder.com plus our official Canadian Marine weather site.

This might help all. Heed weather forecasts, closely, please. It seems when ever winds are up on the day of Bass opener we get search aircraft from Trenton here, we don't want that.

  8. Believe it or not neither. I have fished Long Point Bay for Largemouth a few times over the years but have never fished Tecumseh. There are so many Smallie locations post spawn no need to fish that reef this time of year. It is usually fished hard in the late summer and Fall. I tell everyone that asks is to launch at Hoovers Marina heading  east and work the shoreline of Peacock. It is ALL good fishable waters. I can tell you where it's up to you to do the how.

I have both of them but haven't watched yet. Good to hear.

I think the only movie I haven't seen is the Gentlemen something. Being locked in for the entire year I have seen every movie except kids animated flics I would guess. Many good ones, a few great ones and some cr&p movies that were a waste of my precious time.

From all the movies and TV mini series I have seen the one that made me evoke the most emotions "The Greenbook" is the winner to me. I always say art that evokes an emotion, any emotion, has done it's job. I laughed watching Greenbook and I cried as well. Right now there is a series on Crave called "Laurel Canyon." I  didn't realize it is a series until I went to re watch it with my wife and it was a completely different flic. Basically it's the history of California's Rock and Roll scene from the late 50's through the 70's.

Another fantastic documentary is Robbie Robertson's film about the history of the Band, produced by Robbie Robertson and Martin Scorsese. Once Were Brothers. Absolutely fantastic. Not just for fans of the Band or Rock and Roll, a great story behind it.

Another recent documentary that will make you go into a Air Guitar solo is " Rumble: The Indians that Rocked the World.

https://www.rumblethemovie.com/home More must see T.V. We watched it on either HBO or Crave. I am trying to remember the mini series on either Crave or HBO this past winter. It's based on a Steven King story. I don't remember enough of the name to Google it, I will find out when Tich comes home.

    So back to the movie

I did not look up google to see the actors

Amazing how many  where in it

Main cop as I remember , was a detective later that used doll houses to solve crimes.

His partner if I am not mistaken was the DR. that lived in a motor home on the hospital lot .

The money guy played in, Hamburger hill and   Spider man as the Gool on the flying surf board.

The rat guy, played as the sector 7 head guy in Transformers

I know they all played in many others, but these are the ones that came to me.

    Good movie

    Ah the 80,s

Ah the good old 80's. I would rather forget the 80's. For me it was terrible music, terrible fashions, terrible TV, terrible cars and most of all a terrible 10 years of marriage. 17% and even higher mortgage rates don't even make the list. It was a terrible 10 years for me, sorry.

I am screaming into this laptop because it won't accept my keyboard inputs. I am saying "There are not any Bass in Lake Erie so stay home or  go somewhere else."  Now to tell you the honest truth you will find Bass from Niagara Falls to Windsor on the north shore of Lake Erie. We live right on the shore of Erie. When I tell you that you will find Bass anywhere along the shoreline I am not telling a fish tale. Just a few hours ago I watched a male spawn with a large female Smallie dance together. The male circles the female and looks to try and squeeze the eggs from the large female over the bed of smaller stones and pebbles. This is late for them, usually the males are guarding the nests by this date. Opener is over a week away, 4th Sat. on June. So find an outcropping of limestone with  a stony and sandy bottom and you will find Bass. Virtually 100% Smallmouth to Long Point Bay then you will find your Large Mouth in the bay. Smallies west of the bay. As for weapons of mass destruction, anything from a cigarette but on a hook to a topwater presentation. Good luck, stay safe and stay home, no fish to be had here so stay home please. (tongue in cheek as I want more to catch for myself.)

    Thank you, Johnny D/Selkirk On.

    ooops

  13. It had to be around 10PM last night. There was a sudden rumble, I looked up from my 10 PM feeding thinking it was on TV and the sub woofer was working just fine. Ticha was on her laptop and turned to the patio door behind her and I realized this huge sound was outside. When I stood to go look I saw patio furniture fly by the window. I cut through the wind to remove the umbrella from the table. As soon as I pulled the thing up and out the table flipped over like a flap Jack. Just yesterday afternoon did I lash my 5 day old gas BBQ to the railing as the weather lady told me it was going to get very windy. I listen to young weather ladies closely, sometimes even the volume is turned on. I looked across the lake and it was pitch black  across the upper sky east to west and tapered down to create a triangle. Then there was a jhet black spout straight into the water or land. We were seeing a massive water spout (a tornado over water) or a tornado on land and zero rain. A few minutes later it was an eerie calm as calm can be, no wind no rain. This morning there were reports of Tornado's causing big damages in Sandusky Ohio and London ON. Not much damage here on the north shore of Lake Erie in Haldimand County. Our buddy in Ohio may give us some local reports. Not the 1st tornado/water spout or the biggest and I'm sure if we hang around long enough it wont be the worst. 30 kilometers north or south. We are not prepared. Just last summer a small waterspout hit land, became a tornado and ran up a small south to north road that runs straight into the village of Selkirk On. We will have more during this Global Weather Change period in our history of Mankind. Spending some cash for a Tornado warning system on modern media might be a good idea.4  interlocking brick cross walks 500 meters from the outer residence in town needed to be completed 1st.

glad you watched because I can’t. Seen some pictures in some newspaper reports, that was more than enough for me.
Anyone south of Rome does not eat tripe, I’m south of Rome! I swear my brother is from the north! Eats it at weddings only, we have no clue how to cook or even buy it!

In the winter every Friday used to be Tripa at the Regina Club. Regina as in Reggio Calabria, can't get much south of that before getting your feet wet. However my Nani from Reggio never made tripe. Dad who grew up in Abruzzi loved tripe. I detested it. I was invited to a lunch once to a serious guys home, he made tripe. With everything that goes with all that "respect" scenario I ate it. And guess what? I had seconds. Tastes change. When I was a kid I would not eat sausages and eny Salumi or prochiutto. Too much fat, I was an athlete. I missed out many years of great food.

I have problems typing on OFC. That's why I'm not here much anymore. 15 minutes to type this and cant  edit. No issues on other sitescomes and goes.

No peppers, brussel sprouts, or turnips.  None of that crazy batcrap.  The worst I saw was some woman in china flipping the lids off the sewers and scooping waste fat and oil out of the sewers to be reused, along with a healthy dose of floating turds and whatever else comes up.  I used to like the odd chinese meal of sweet and sour chicken balls and rice.  Unfortunately that isn't happening any more.

Those "chicken balls" we get at Chinese restaurants has nothing to do with Chinese food. They are actually named "  balled chicken." It's Can Am Chinese food just like spaghetti and meatballs is Italian food. I've seen some strange things served in Chinese restaurants. Like the huge live Carp cooked in smoking oil at the table. The chef poured some red sauce on it and everyone dove in. The idea is to eat the Carp before it dies. Mmmmm good. Fresh as you will ever get.
