Worth a trip to Barrie. It's too bad to see that happen but I guess those that go shopping there will score some great deals on stuff.

I had an issue with the 2 Broil King bbq's that I have. Both of them had a major issue with the lower castings which had buckled from the heat of the bbq. I was ready to buy 2 new bbq's in the spring but was advised at Barbecues Galore in Oakville to call up OMC to see if they would warranty my castings. Both barbies were 8 years old. After sending them some pics, I received 2 brand new upper and lower castings, 2 flavorizer bars, 2 sets of new cast iron cooking grids, and 2 new warming racks free of charge with shipping included. So for $60/each for new burners, I have 2 pretty much new bbq's other than the stand assemblies. I'm more than happy with their service on this issue.

I'm down the road from there, the only real option other than Canadian Tire or Wal Mart is LeBaron's at Dixie and Dundas in Mississauga OR JB's Fishing Depot at the 427/401 area.

We had an experience yesterday with an ignorant tourney pro on Buckhorn.

 

We were drifting between two islands when one boat was coming up behind us, as they slowed to pass, another bass boat came flying around the point of the island at full speed headed right for us. I was seconds from jumping from my boat. He came off plane no more than 10 yards off my bow and then had the balls to give us crap for fishing in that spot, don't really know what that was all about. We told him to slow down and watch where he was going and he took again in a huff.

You should have got his licence # and gone to where they do their weigh ins and had a talk with him and the tourney director. He should know better. Jack

Lew, don't go messing around trying to break up those rocks, it's too much work, you can't go thru gardens to truck them out and besides, you are retired, not in jail, making a pile of big rocks into little rocks. Go the topsoil route and build a little rock garden there.

Nice 'ski!! Try to do a horizontal hold, vertical holds are murder on those big girls and we want them to live a long time and have lots of little babies to grow up into monster muskies. I'm hoping to wash a couple of bucktails next weekend and maybe catch a 'ski or 2.

I didn't know that the popups didn't have some sort of a holding tank. I'd get one of the wastewater caddies from an RV dealer then, it will hook up directly and be the least messy option for the greywater. Does the fridge run off 12volt power or does it run off propane?? If 12 volt, then your next purchase is a generator, if propane, you can run off of your 20lb'er and battery and it should last quite a while. I've got a 30foot travel trailer so that is what I'm basing my knowledge off of, it's our 3rd season and I think I've got it figured out.

I wouldn't leave the freshwater tank filled for a long time. That water will get stagnant after a while and get to be pretty nasty. Bring up fresh water each weekend and dump what's left when you leave. There should be a second waste water tank, I'd take a look, you really shouldn't let the water from the sink drop onto the ground, the soap is nasty for the ground water as it leaches in. I know there are 'caddies' for wastewater available at RV centres, they are a couple of hundred bucks or so and make life easier.

Pellet guns and such do not need to be registered provided that their muzzle velocity is under 500ft/second. So, what you buy at Canadian Tire is fine. I'm not sure that they need to be locked though. I would esp. if there are kids around. Out at the farm I used to leave the 12guage stashed in one spot and the ammunition fairly close to the bed hidden away, thieves got to be pretty rampant out there.

Get the propane system checked out. If there are any leaks, better to get them fixed now rather than deal with issues once it's up north. A 2000 watt generator would be a good investment as would a second deep cycle rv battery for power while you dry camp. Bring your batteries home every weekend to charge. Have the tires and bearings inspected, you don't need a blowout or a bearing to fail on the way up. I wouldn't use the sink and water unless the fresh water tank was cleaned. You do this by filling it up with water and a half gallon of bleach, let it sit for a few hours and then run the sink until the tank goes dry, refill with water a couple of times to flush out the bleach. Also, don't use the holding tank unless you have a way to safely empty it and dispose of the contents. To keep that fresh, drop a cup of Calgon mixed with a gallon of water into it each time you use it. That way, nothing will really stick to the walls of the wastewater holding tank.

The furnace typically runs off of 12volt power but it eats up battery power like crazy, hence the second battery.

I'd say the battery is done. Take it to your local Canadian Tire to get it tested properly. It's not holding a good charge and will only deteriorate from here on in.

It's a nice rod, that's for sure. And, more importantly, it catches fish, nice 'eye!!!

I will second Iboats.com. It's a great resource and you should be able to figure out exactly what you'll need to do from some of the gurus there. There are guys that are very knowledgeable about transom repair, floor replacement, engine work, etc... People have pretty much rebuilt their old cabin cruisers from the keel up with the help they received. If you have the time and some extra money lying around to get the materials for the work, GO FOR IT!!! It'll take you some time but hey, you'll have a boat that only cost you a couple of grand by the time it's all said and done.

Nice to see those old birds up in the air, I see the big Lancaster bomber flying once in a while here in Oakville. Just one of the 4 engines on it runs about $1 million. The old warbirds are getting more and more expensive to keep up in the air and when you add in the occasional crash, the fleet is getting smaller. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton is a neat place to go visit. You can actually sit in the cockpit of a couple of the old planes there. Help them out by visiting the place.

On a tank of gas for a car, you are looking at 5-7 bucks extra for a tank of fuel. It adds up. For the most part, if you are going to store your car/truck/anything with a motor, drop some stabilizer in the fuel and run it for a few minutes before you shut it down.

Cinammon buns in Prawda!! Every time we went through, we made a pit stop on the Winnipeg bound run. Gas is definitely cheaper in the 'Peg. Better when you shop at Safeway. I'm missing the in-laws cottage on LOTW. The pickeral in Bigstone Bay are safe this summer.

I use the Stabil Marine Formula for the boat and I add a bit to the snowblower and lawnmower when they go away for the season. I use Seafoam as a cleaner for the carb and upper cylinders. A lot of the 'gurus' on iboats.com don't recommend Seafoam as a fuel stabilizer, as a cleaner yes but not for long term storage of fuel.

I've got a Mustang fisherman's vest and it's fine for me. I'm a big guy and it fits and is comfy.

Wayne is a bigtime contributor to the board and has helped out quite a few OFNrs over the years and it is good to see that some of the Karma he has built up over the years is coming back to him by this gesture. Wayne, get your little girl healthy again and get her out to give this rod a test drive. It needs a nice brand spanking new reel.
