  1. You'll be fine with a Canadian Tire combo for the wife and kids. For the weekend warrior type of fisherman, they work fine. If you really work the water for hours on end, then, a better quality rod/reel shines with durability. You get what you pay for when it comes to fishing equipment.

  2. I stick to soft drinks, juice and lots of bottled water in the boat. I have zero tolerance for alcohol and boating. I don't drink very much these days because the the way I feel the next day just isn't worth it, besides, the kids don't care that daddy was up all night drinking with the boys, they still want to play at 6:30am. Keep the booze for the dock and the apres fish.

  3. I hear ya!! At least next week when I'm on holidays the weather is supposed to cool down a touch and maybe I can get into a 'ski or two. But to fish today, NO WAY JOSE!! Best to sit somewhere where it is air conditioned or at least somewhere in the shade with a cool drink.

  4. I'd go back there next year if the cabins were nice. You need to figure out the fish on any new body of water. My first time on LOTW, I'd go out for 3-4 hours and catch nothing. Hit the right spots with my father in law later in the evening and in a half hour to an hour we'd limit out. You need to know the water and where the spots are. Make sure you have a portable fish finder next time you go along with a proper chart of the lake. You may be surprised how good the fishing can be when you find them.

  5. Get a chart!! Too many people think that they can be in deep water and be fine, Georgian Bay is notorious for having big rock cliffs come out of nowhere and while the back of the boat is in 100' of water, the front is up on a shoal. Go to your local West Marine and they should have the chart in stock, otherwise pick one up at one of the local marinas. Spending 30 bucks on a chart sure beats spending a couple thousand to repair your lower end.

  6. Here we go......... Conspiracy theories abound. Like one of the Rockefellers said a few years ago before 9/11, 'don't worry about what you can't control, just take care of yourself and your family'. Tune into Alex Jones and watch Jessie 'The Body' Ventura's show. You'll be stockpiling food and munitions in no time.

  7. Put in a 1/4 cup of bleach and fill it up with water and let it sit for a couple of hours and then empty it out and give it a quick rinse. That way you are killing any bacteria that are in there that are causing the odour. If it still smells, then try one of the other methods, I like the borax method, it will freshen it up BUT kill what is in there first.
