  1. I have decided to increase my plastics collection, so I was wondering how some of you store your plastics? I have been thinking of buying 1 or 2 of those zip-up tackle binders. I know I'll have to buy more sleeves for them too. And realized all this stuff adds to a fair amount of $ for such a small thing. Anyways, looking forward to hearing from ya's.

  2. I was actually going to move to Barrie around 5 years ago. Back then, which obviously is not that long ago, Barrie was a place you could not find a place to rent, you almost had to buy. I'm sure things haven't change that much, so you should have no trouble what so ever renting your place out at all. And no trouble flipping it for a profit either. Good luck.

  3. Heard Pro Gear in Hamilton was closing down and had a blowout sale, 40% off everything, so I stopped by. They still have lots o plastics left, which is primarily what I got, along with some Owner treble hooks, #2 n #4, and some slip bobbers. They still had some steelhead rods left, Gloomis, and baitcast rods, and next to no spinning reels or crankbaits. So if you need some plastics, fishing line, or a steelhead rod, its worth checking. Never checked the hunting stuff out either.

  4. If you get out on a windy day you will be glad for the extra power, two motors(gas and electric) is a plus! it beats the heck out of rowing if you have a problem!

Exactly! Been out many times on a calm day when the trolling motor was plenty, bring some wind into the mix, things change in a hurry.

  5. Well, I no longer look for deals there, cuz the only deal you will get is no tax. But my son loves it there, I give $40 to him and let him buy lures....he has more plastics than I! Its an enjoyable experience for him. Thats pretty much the only reason I go. On top of that, the wife is finally gonna come along. I'll have fun cuz they'll have fun there, its all good for me. But if you're looking for deals, definately not what it use to be, no denying that. But its a good outing to get out and look around with the family. And I got the Friday off, so thats when I'll be going.

  6. I would party likes its 1999! Kidding. First, I would definately require some brews, or rum. I would plan some adventures with my son during the day, some events indoors during the evening. After he would go to bed, work on a project or watch a movie my wife wouldn't like, and thats action films. Basically.... what yer doing. Sounds like yer on the right track. Man, am I getting old or is that just growing up? Thankfully, I know how to cook, whew. Enjoy BnB.

  7. That is the reason why I don't watch the news, heck, I rarely watch tv, as well as listen to the radio. It's almost like the media wants to instill a constant fear to the watchers/listeners. I know bad things happen in the world and I don't need to hear it. That is just the trend we are heading to. Sensational, gruesome news. Heck, look at all these popular movies out that glorify brutal killing. Man, I'm ranting now too. Thx TJ. :w00t:

Now I must go to work and take it out on my clients.

  8. If you want light, stay away from Diawa, they weigh aton for the size you want. Depending how much you want to spend on a reel, but the 4000 series of Shimano's are ideal for what you are looking for. You also might want to check out the Phflueger Trion or President, good reels and are under $100.

  9. You probably won't like Barrie, its pretty much a suburb of T.O. now, maybe the outskirts like Collingwood. You don't want to go to Innisfil, unless you have a mullet. Don't know about Parry Sound, but investigate the Elliot Lake area. I know the realestate is dirt cheap there, and the town/city is trying hard to attract people. We have a resident of Elliot Lake here on the board, Bob, I'm sure he can shed some light on the employment in that area. Good luck.

  10. Wow, finally got a post on fire. haha. Think I'll start with what Verno mentioned. Funny thing is, when I bought this house 6 years ago, we met some people down the street, and they warned us about our neighbours. As much as I love revenge, it would be too much of a headache to get back. Though I would love to see the look on their face when they are handed a fine. :thumbsup_anim:

Thanks again all for the ideas. I didn't know so many of you are so evil. :thumbsup_anim:

  11. I pretty much ignore my one neighbour, unfortunately, it's alot more difficult when you live in a semi-detatched house, and they are attatched. Not to mind, I have been having an issue for them for sometime now. What is happening is that they are letting their dog out on the lawn, no leash, and he happens to enjoy taking dumps on my lawn. The first couple times I cleaned it up myself, then eventually started asking them to do it. This has been going on for a year and a bit now. To give you an idea, last year when the snow melted, I found over a dozen droppings. Well, I knocked on their door and informed them to clean it up, in a very nice way. Another time, my wife caught the one young daughter scoop the poop up and toss it in front of our window, not knowing my wife was there.

Well, today I was shovelling the same time the nasty witch was out, the mom, seen their dog come over to my lawn, gave him the evil eye and booked off. Well, I took a break and came back, I looked where the dog was before, turned out he went back and took a dump there. I go over to the neighbour and informed her of it, cuz ain't no way I'm cleaning it up. She obviously had something built up, she just waved her hands away and said to clean it up myself, she had some other choice words to. I'm like, OK....freak. I go over to the poop, scoop it up and toss it on their lawn.

I am a very easy going type of guy, and certainly try to avoid conflict, but I just had enough here, no more mister nice guy. We have done nothing directly wrong to these people, and I find it extremely insulting the lack of respect they show. I called the local police station, just to find out who enforces local by-laws, cuz I know a fine can be levy'd.

They suggested the SPCA or City Hall. Called the SPCA, couldn't get a hold of anyone, and the City Hall was closed today. Any suggestions here, because the next time their dog does it, its not going to be me knocking on their door.

Whew, sorry for the long winded speach here.

  12. I do alot of shore fishing for salmon and trout. I have a 10' Medium action Shimano Convergence, paired with a Shimano Symettre, 4000 size, with 8lb Fins Evolution line and a flouro leader. Handles salmon like a champ, but is kinda heavy for trout, at least I find. If you get a smaller reel, like the size of a 2500 series, I wouldn't put any backing on, but thats just me. With mono, you'll be able to cast a mile, but if you hook into a salmon, or a nice bow, your line will stretch like crazy after a few fish and then you'll have to replace it. Again, thats what I find.

As well, its extremely important to get high quality snap/barrel swivels. If you don't, your line will twist and will affect your casting distance.
