  1. 5th picture down is that cabin on the Quebec side? Did U cross train tracks to cast that area?
  2. My family is from mattawa. Love this area!! great shots, as beautiful as ever.
  3. If you have 2 bags tied off on either side to slow your troll down will you be doing any damage to the motor by making it work harder against the additional drag?
  4. How good are the contours for the app, do that get down to 1ft?
  5. Kicker will have to wait a year or 2, the new boat has bled me dry. The bags will have to fill the gap until then. I'll make sure i give the motor a good run periodically throughout the day.
  6. Thanks. I'll check for the update with Navionics!
  7. My friend owned a lodge on red cedar lake in Marten river. The fishing was always excellent. A gold storm thin fin is the go to lure, just kills em there.
  8. I've zoomed in expecting to see more contour lines but that's not the case. Is there something in the contour settings I need to change or is the map for that area just not that detailed?
  9. Varying speeds and having to get down to 1.5 is another good argument for having trolling bags to slow down. I've ordered the large bags from cabelas because of the weight system and they had 5 bucks off each bag if u buy 2. We'll see how it goes.
  10. I have navionics hot maps premium V 1.2 (maybe 2008-9) running in my HDS 5. Lately I've been mapping in Honey harbour and Lake O, i was under the impression you could get 1ft contour details, or at least some good detail, but this is not the case. As a matter of fact the detail is barely any better than the lowrance stock map except maybe some buoy markers. I have the proper map selected in the settings. Should i get something different, if so what upgrade won't cost an arm and leg? Or am i using it wrong?
  11. Thanks, that's the kind of info I would have missed! Sometimes u have to pay a bit more to get the right set up.
  12. Great thanks. price is good. Would want 2 x 36" so let me know when u have them. Guys any opinions on these particular ones, say vs. cabelas? or are they all the same?
  13. Yep, those laker and salmon speeds are about what i've run with my 90hp. Not so fast for the walleyes. I just don't know how slow i will be able to get a 150hp, can it get down to 2mph, that's why the bags.
  14. So how fast for pickerel? I am moving 4.5-6mph for muskies.
  15. Oh ya, I rip fast for musky! Thinking more for pickerel, lakers etc.
  16. what size engine you are slowing down with that technique? Is it hard to pull them back in?
  17. Looks like we read the same web articles! I found a great one on Lindy,s about tying two bags under your boat, attaching to the bow cleats. I going to try that coupled with 2 x38" bags from cabela's. Unless of course something better comes up. Here is the article if anyone is interested: http://www.lindyfishingtackle.com/fishingresources/articles/fishingbaitandtackle/putasockinit
  18. Thanks Guys! A little more about myself............Home base for fishing is the Honey harbour area of Gbay, rent a cottage seasonally there, musky and pike being my favorite species to target. But happily will go after anything! Currently fish out of a 16ft starcraft with a 90 suzuki, but should be in a 18.5ft superfisherman with a 150 merc in a couple weeks, if the deal doesn't get botched by dealer, almost did once(long story for another time). Also fish lake O as i live close by. Cheers
  19. Hi All, New to the site and looking forward to learning from everyone and hopefully returning the favour! I have a new boat on order with a 150 mercury 4 stroke. I like to troll for all kinds of species however at this time can't afford a kicker, so my next best option to slow down will be trolling bags/drift socks. Can anybody in a similar situation let me know what size and make of bags they have had success with? I am thinking 2 x 30" off the bow cleats. Cheers, Rich
