That sea lamprey yours?

Late spring and all summer long are the best times to catch gars. I use the rope lure.
I was told not to use the rope lure because if it breaks off the fish has it's mouth "glued" shut and dies?

Kings in 4, long shot ya, but if they're going to win anyway might as well go for the long shot.
-
Even though you're fishing by now, good luck!

Been fly fishing a couple of years, still not very good at that cast.
-
Lately I've been focusing most of my efforts on the upper credit and upper humber, so probably similar to your area.

Jeremy Wade for primeminister.
I don't think so!

I think that even if we made people take the two minutes to sign up to be able to read posts, most would still just remain as lurkers who just read but don't post...
Another thing to add, it took me years to join and I admit that I was snooping a bit, it's way more fun actually being on here, and I regret lurking...
I was deterred by signing up

True but it does discourage.

Due to the weird weather this year I am not trusting any hatch charts, I know that the gnats are out and dragonflies, someone reported seeing caddisflies but are they in full swing or just starting out? I think all of the fly fishers that aren't so good at recognizing and finding these insects could greatly benefit from this.

I think the "world class angler" really just comes from millions of fans of the show that really know nothing about angling, or little about it.

The one in the picture is an alligator. A caiman lizard is completely different and does not resemble any of the crocodilians.

Which are you going to be? The mother or the late son?
The grandmother

I would hook him through the lips and go pike fishing.
and catch this...

Cool, I wish I knew a spot where there was gar, would love to try for them. I can't say i have ever even seen one while on the water.
I'll be going out sometime to quitnte for gar this year, most of the shallow bays are supposed to have them.

Remember the Discovery show thread??? I'd watch your adventures for sure
*plus making a camera crew follow you would be hilarious
But blur the backgrounds
-
No competition to me, I don't do bamboo.
But good luck with your venture.
If you haven't looked here, you should.
Mine will be so good people will switch to bamboo.

A rope lure is a section of nylon rope that is tied to a hook shank with no actual hook, the fish bite is thinking it's a fish and because of their toothy mouths the teeth get caught up in the rope. However if you read my last post on here you can see why don't use it, husky jerks and suspending minnows also work for gar.
