  1. ...My son Tyler and I went out last night for an hour or so..

We brought along the "PenFishingRod" to give it a try for some Largemouth and shot a short video for fun.

I'm using my "French Canadian redneck " accent.

    took a pic as well.

Tyler caught about 8 Largemouth of about the same size and a few sunfish.

He also missed "THE POND MONSTER".. there a few LM's over 8lbs in that PRIVATE pond and my son had it on

It broke the "PenFishingRod" in half .....Got that on video too

  2. I believe that a vertical hold from the gill or mouth probably does not harm the fish......

BUT.....I DO Believe that a vertical hold from the tail {upside down} on a large fish can KILL it....Especially a Muskie or Large Pike...THE ONE AND ONLY Muskie that I have on My wall was killed that way...I was a rookie Muskie angler and didn't know. I actually "felt, heard" the vertebrae separating..kinda like cracking knuckles..

In no way did I intend to kill this fish , I was lifting it from the ground "caught from shore" to cradle it for a safe release..... I spent 30 minutes in the water with her to let her go ... but alas no go...can't swim with a broken back.

Although not that big at 49.5 " 30Lbs...she's a reminder on my wall.

    Just my 5 cents.

  3. They tease the driver saying that he's made a "girlfriend" then go to tell him to kiss her on the nose...

The driver vows to not shoot her in the fall if they ever meet again...

The last guy walking and singing with her invites her home for some "Deer and Carrot" soup.

    Very Very cool.

  4. Reminds me of a few of the trips I used to take before we moved to the lake. That one pic showing water on the road and the lengthwise logs looks like a real killer!

And scratches on that nice truck! Hopefully you can buff most of them out.

What we won't do to get a good camping spot and some good fishing! :D

3 x coats of McGuiars and some Mother's Back to Black..before leaving should have done the trick..I'll find out Sunday when I wash it.

The guy with the Excursion had the right idea with his .Maybe a rental?.. He put some body man cling-stick prep mask film on his .. This guy was from Ohio he got a good Idea...I'll try to get some of that film for September.

  5. Here goes ...

We left early on Tuesday morning and headed towards HWY 805..the first 85 kms is very accessible by car

but then it gets rough...the last 10 kms are brutal it takes 1 1/2 hours...washouts and boulders abound.

    4x4 only or ATV.

We got to Gull in 3 hours ..set up "Camp Kirkwood" in under 2 hours..then it was time for a Beer or two.

I decided to go fishing but there was no camera to be found.."thus no fish pics" it was later recovered by the beach my daughter was snapping pictures and left it there.

I managed to boat 2 fair Lakers around 4lbs and 30 or so Smallies... but alas no Walleye.

we kept "I can't beleive I'm gonna say this " SMALLIES for shore lunch!!! they weren't bad and the trout was very good.

All in all we had us a great time..but kinda froze our butts off at night as the temps plunged to 3*.

I hope this works..testing one pic....see what happens

  6. Have a great time!

Are there still monster walleye in Gull?

Sure are!! If you follow the slot size..and all regs Gull is a one Walleye a day lake..never got a Walleye from Gull under 60cm. Apparently the Gull Lake record was set in 1986 @ 20lb 9oz. [recently deceased] H Larabie

was the lucky angler.. I've seen an 18lb 37" back in 1995.

When the limit was 6 and no slot ...a 65lb stringer was not uncommon.

Gull grows an average Smallie of 13-17" ..and there are tons of 'em

Gull also grows HUGE Lakers...but the average fish is not very big mostly 3 - 7 lbs.
