  1. I have several clients who have been to Athabasca at least a dozen times. One guy has gone twice a year for 13 or 14 years. Pike in June and lakers in Sept. The shallow pike fishing at ice out is unreal and the lakers are very plentiful. They rant and rave about it. Here is one of the guides with a nice one up there....
  2. Thanks all....went 3 for 5 today dodging the waves and flurries.
  3. He almost did. He might have soiled himself actually cause we went in 1 hour later..
  4. Hey guys, as the season draws down I thought you guys would like to see two hawgs we took this year, one 2 days after opener and the other today. The first was 50X26 and todays was 56X23 1/2. Both fish come jigging deep in the Detroit River!
  5. Thank you very much. Good fishing.
  6. He's back tomorrow...doing it again would mean cloud nine for sure.
  7. That is what Gord said if I remember correctly!
  8. Thanks guys. I love this place.
  9. Took a very good client out today and in the am on the Detroit River, The two of us fished until 2:39 and hooked 18 landing 14, with the 3 biggest all being 48 inchers. Couldn't break the 50 inch mark. We started casting and had one come blasting out to eat a redhorse Meal Ticket. That was awesome. Then made one pass jigging Bondy's out in about 25 ft getting none. Moved to 15-17 ft and it fired up. Man they were eating good today. Had we had a 3rd rod out we would have had 20 I'm sure. I had one that I saw on the screen that was about 8-10 ft off the bottom, and I raised my jig up as far as I could do it. Holding on to the butt end of the handle pointing that tip sky high and that sucker ate it. By the time I set the hook she was at the top....what a day. Not an everyday occurance that's for sure. Here are some pics....
  10. Thanks guys. 2012 will be my 18th year guiding the Detroit and my 12th for musky and as Brandon will agree I've never seen such and exciting way to fish for them as the strikes are unreal. Gord and I talked alot about all kinds of things from fishing with the Lindners to ice fishing in the far north. That is one knowledgeable guy and one of the coolest down to earth guys we've met. Truly a Canadian legend. Brandon posted our musky jigging video on here earlier this year, but in case you missed it here is 10 minutes of instruction: On a side note, you guys may find it interesting that Gord says musky spawn twice a year. The first attempt has them dropping about 75% of their eggs and the second try weeks later they drop the rest. Not sure if that is everywhere or not but it was an interesting discussion. Good fishing! Jon Bondy
