  1. ...naaa not ignorant realistic..I do all my own servicing and poster stated the same mostly..I don't walk into any marina and say change this change that ..service this ..check this ..so you think your boss pays you 30 hr and charges you out for 30 hr come on use some common sense..is the price high ...maybe ..maybe the hyd steering was a pain to re and re we don't know the whole story..besides I don't remember asking your opinion

Pretty sure he weighed in the labour cost at $88. Not sure you really read the story

OP thanks for the heads up on that place. Posts like this are exactly what community forums are for. I for one do not want to get bamboozled by going somewhere with "low overhead"? Lol

  2. with reference to the car salesman comment....in the showroom all the people walking around with Pinocchio like noses are customers....not salesmen.

If a salesman is lying to you report him to OMVIC!!!

I disagree, for example just ask him if that's the best price they can do. The next thing out of his mouth is a lie

  3. Length of the rod will only be an issue from your casting position (angle from rod in hand to the water) If your in the bottom of a tinny a 7ft rod is too long. You'll knock it on the boat lip many times and it makes a god awful sound. If your on a casting deck of an All Species boat, 7' IS the ideal length, and you can put your tip in the water to negotiate weeds off your line

  4. Just had to figure this out last week. Google an image hosting site. Create an account, upload photos. a few different links will be created and shown on new page. Choose one less than 800*600 in size, copy the link (the one u want will have [ this at the beginning of the link and an ] at the end) those are the magic symbols that put the pic on the forum

  5. Thanks guys I have taped my spill but I will respool and try with mono

I wouldn't. One birds nest in mono could crimp your line. You may end up having to cut more line off your spool to get past the crimp, back to clear line. I tried this when I first started too. It was a mistake. Plus mono wont help you pull the boat over to your also inevitable snags. But some good heavy braid, 30# plus, an learn to work out the birds nests. They happen, and will happen for the rest of your baitcasting life. It's just the better you get, the less frequent they come. And the less down time on working them out.

I'm sure someone will argue against my point. But spend the money on decent, rigid braid. Such as PP 40# or Seaguar Kanzen 30#+ and you should have a shorter learning curve. After you figure out the spool tensioner and magnets lol.

  6. I dunno, dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. How did it work before all the locks were put in place. Was there an annual flood or did things run according to nature.

Ummm, isn't the Trent system man made? As in the lakes didn't connect through a river that can be traversed by boat?

  7. I've got two Abu C4s 5601s that I don't need anymore. One has Power handle. PM me if interested. As Pete said they are not very good for big baits, but Topwaters, jerkbaits, and anything under 3oz is fine. Twin Bucktails under sz10 are a breeze

Keep in mind when choosing, Lefty is a hard road. I would think less than 20% of the fishing pop are left retrieve meaning not as many reels are produced. Plus alot of Manufactures dont even carry the full line up on both sides, try to find out info on the lefty Tranx!lol.

My current combos are a Calcutta TE 401 and a Toro HS 61 on StCroix Premier rods one 7' one 8'.

I'm looking to upgrade my rods to Tournaments soon.

My advice on rods..... Anything StCroix Full Cork.

  8. My Dad lives up in Lefroy. Since the eighties. When I was a kid we used to go hunting for clams. I haven't seen a clam in the sand for 15-20 years. Also the panfishing USED to be incredible, right off the pier barely a worm needed. U could just tap the water with your hook and you'd be selecting from a cloud of ten fish buzzing around the bait. I've also notice a sharp decline in Zebra mussels over the past ten years.

Yeah, but no fish now, dot even bother going, lol

  9. won't find anything better than the original Zebco Cardinal 4 reels!

I thought the same for years. I fished a Cardinal 3 that I used since childhood, until last year.

I bought a Saros 2500 FA and the difference is incredible. The newer reel with Instant Anit-Reverse kept fish on the hook. At least three nice Largies this summer, hit with my rod in the wrong position for hookset. With the new reel and the X-ship, quick snap of the wrist and set, my old reel would've taken a long sweep before the anti reverse kicked in.

The Saros is a gorgeous reel for the price. $169 puts it in the middle and its def worth it

  10. Unfortunately all you can do is carry a big stick..... and walk softly.

However the fact that it has happened before really hurts your case since you keep going back. If your defending yourself to the point of harming another you must show "due diligence" in not letting it happen again. As in, you yourself could have prevented this from happening.

I'm no Lawyer, but I know this to be fact and precedented.

(Obviously in the case something violent happens in the near future)
