You know that’s not funny. lol , i drive down to the beach almost every day to check even though i already know by the temps
most years I post that I get out on the ice on my pool and drill a hole, I never get a fish but it’s nice to get out
the things we do while waiting for good ice, at this point i would be happy with bad ice
It’s probably my fault, I build a 2 person permanent hut to put out this year and bought a new atv lol, sorry guys…

Took a boot around Innisfil with the kid on the ATV just driving through puddles lol... come on ice.!!

It's certainly been a later start to the seasons the last bunch and does go longer, but still... Guess I'll take the little boat to Angus between Xmas and new years a few times.

There’s not better sinking feeling then when the OPP asks you to “turn on” your waterproof flashlight that you haven’t turned on in months lol
Truer words have never been spoken... wait, let me spin the batteries, hit it a little... See! there's some light there.

My bay at 7th line of Innisfil, is finally decent, me and my boy went this past Monday, man it was super windy. The wind ripped out a peg for the pop out and popped the side into us lol. But we managed to catch a feed of Perch. Looks like we might have a bit of a season, getting colder again.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday all like 8-10 degrees. Bleh

Yep, that is the light at the end of the tunnel for sure.

There's been a bunch of later seasons in the past decade were we don't get ice until far after new years and it stays longer, but I just can't see that this year, unless it's 0 degrees in April lol

By the title of the thread I was thinking this was going to be about ice fishing for crappies.............🙄
South of CrowMan down around Kingston, the ice is getting pretty sketchy. It is supposed to go down a bit tonight and be below zero in the morning, but...but...but...I am not in a real hurry to see if my floater suit works or not.
Shortest ice season I can recall.

Pretty sad... My bay on the 7th line on Simcoe wasn't good until last weekend and now its super unsafe and getting worse. The next 10 day forecast doesn't look promising at all. Come on open water then!

I'm just off 7th line of Innisfil, my bay seems to be good to go now, it takes a little longer then Cooks. Me and the boy will probably be heading out for some Perch tomorrow morning!

It’s pretty crazy how low the water level is, I don’t remember it being this low. Hard to get over one of the dams with the boat.

Oh ya, he is. Has no problem getting up and onto the river for 6ish lol.

Me and my boy and the father in law have done a few boat runs the last few weeks up on the Notty. Had lots of success and he’s continuing his trend of out fishing me does it all by himself.
last time out lost a giant (I believe) went in under a bunch of sticks, was down there for a few minutes and ended up breaking me off. Good times

Perhaps the chamber of commerce realizes the permanent damage done to their 'tourism industry' due to selling public lands to private interests and levying non-resident restrictions. Orillia is a dump, as the town has moved to hwy 12 and 400 and west, away from the corruption. Orillia has a long way to go to get our $$$ back. Stephen Leacock would be havin' a field day with the jokers running things there.....Next up...environmental damage due to ice fisherman parking on the lake...creating their own crisis and blaming on 'visitors'...this crap has to stop...OWN your issues Orillia...its not fisherman or tourists...
Well put.

2013/14. Bottomed out gas auger. Didn’t have extension with us. Had to move several times to get slightly thinner ice just to get fishing. Was on the ice on an atv much later than most years!
Nice, I had a hut out in lefroy one year when we had a lot of ice too, had the truck out a bunch.

A number of years ago I actually had to use my extension on the Jiffy, about 3 1/2 feet around Gilford.
Crazy, seems it’s freezing later and staying longer now a days.

Man, do you guys ever remember a winter recently with this much ice? I’m just south of innisfil beach road on simcoe and I have close to 3 feet of ice in my bay. Last weekend it was the entire length of my manual ice auger and shaft lol!
Anymore ice I’ll have too chip the rest after I use the auger lol

Went down to Lefroy, just south of me and there are some guys fishing, yikes... I wouldn't be out there. In my bay on the 7th line of Innisfil it was an inch or so a week ago and it's been warmer since. We might get a 2 week season with the weather outlook.
