yup i have the same thought

  2. I'm still confused over this - after fishing there 2 summers where I thought I was safe once again I'm unsure. I thought that the 'triangle' formed by the Killbear lighthouse, Depot Harbour marker and some other point was a 'fish' zone... I could better interpret the Reg's if I new where Cadotte Point was and the Nias Islands..... I think. Anyone know this yet?
  3. Nice! sounds like I'll have my chances, thanks guys. I'll get back to this closer to date! Oh yeah - I'll make a report too
  4. Hey, I'm heading out west August 16-21 for a wedding. Hope to do some fishing but don't have a clue what I can fish for/ what is good that time of year. Will be traveling to the island and mission bc already!! If anyone can help that would be great! Dangler
  5. I thought maybe, so I'm gonna go ice fishing for carp there. Wanna come? Meet me there in February with your tips.
  6. That was an epic, relentless succession of natural beauty; I won't remember that when I wake up.
  7. It's Time: I've heard good things, big things live down there... I'm Going to begin my education of Lake Erie smallies! Thinking of launching somewhere between dunnville and port colborne.... and then just gonna work some tubes and try and find em?! What do ya'll think? if you got something you wanna share, please do. Cheers! Dan

  9. its all very interesting. I'm thinking walleye or whitefish, but would be happy if its Lake trout! Thanks, will try to find out for sure next year and catch a bunch!
  10. Hi all! Just got back from a fishing trip in the temagami area, great trip with phenomenal weather!! A buddy and I hiked to a lake on day and brought the fishfinder with us and we putted around the lake marking fish, a lot were on the bottom and some were suspended. This lake was a bout 2km long and about 500m wide, in general, with depths in the main lake area 40 feet to 25 feet. We have only caught Bass and Pike here but have mostly only fished for bass. Here's my question: We saw quite a few fish on the bottom or suspended in the deeper water and wondering if anyone can take an educated guess as to what they are?! (because we never caught any of them and want to!) Thanks! Dan
  11. Thanks bud, yeah, it's a little tricky to make sure your in the right place, but we got it down pat now!
  12. Actually last year was my first experience catching fish while downrigging. It was a great experience, with 3 of my cousins and friends in the boat we took off to our destination. We had picked a shoal as our place to focus on and started setting the riggers to our chosen depths; each with our chosen weapons on the end. Before I was done setting up my rod we already had a fish! It was a 19" lake trout, real nice looking fish. We marked the spot and did figure eights around it and the fish were regular - about every 30-45 minutes we caught one, the last one being a thick 26" trout. Everyone caught a fish and then we returned home... a little later than all of our girlfriends thought, but still victorious! The big fish was caught on a trout coloured rapala, all baits were at 60', and were caught between 8-11am Canada Day weekend! Cheers!
  13. Hey all! I just finished some searching and didn't notice much on the topic of Downrigging or fishing for Lake Trout on Georigan Bay. I frequent a campground and cottage there and have fished in the area near the Killbear Lighthouse and just wanted to ask a few questions and start a basic resource for this topic with info like when, where and what, temperatures. So if you have anything to add...or better yet, have been out this year already please feel free to share some insights! Thanks alot! Dan
  14. Hey all, The fishing trip was a great time, I really enjoyed my first ice fishing experience at Fish Bay Marina. When the fishing was slow the food, drinks, and the pursuit of fun made things great. Things were pretty quite though; the group of 18 caught about 10 perch, 1 pike (23 inch) and one real nice walleye (23 3/4 inch). Oh yeah, and 4 mud puppies and one PIG!! Yeah, a pig. We brought up a 40lb pig and spit and had a pig roast! Thanks for the tips. Dangler
  15. Yup. The weekend of February 4th.
  16. Nice, thanks guys
  17. Hey all, Just found out I'm heading ice fishing on Lake Nipissing to celebrate a buddy's bachelor party! I'm pretty excited and just want to ask anyone out there for some friendly advice on good lures/depth/method to catch any of the following: Perch? Walleye? Pike? Ling?? I'm all ears. Cheers, Dan
  18. Hey everyone, Has anyone fished at Depot Harbour on Parry Island near Parry Sound? I am interesting in fishing this (In the spring/summer/fall) and believe that there is a $10 fee associated and was wondering if anyone had insights/experience fishing here. Supposedly there are Rainbow trout?? Thanks!! Dangler Was blind but now I fish
  19. This is more bad news. The more I pay attention to oil spills the more I hear about. There was an explosion at an oil rig off coast of Japan I believe and it caused lots of oil to spill as well... some of the biggest oil spills occur in areas of the world where the cleanup is very minimal. What I really came on here to say is that I think that as anglers we have valueable knowledge of fish as well as the landscapes and nature surrounding fish. We should utilize this intimate knowledge and experience and offer feedback and suggestions to the MNR. I think an important place to start is with education. The biggest problem I see with this is that it is very easy to acquire a fishing license and you don't need to know anything to use it. This seems irresponsible and puts many species at risk of being caught or injured at vulnerable times. I think there should be a mandatory test including things like species identification, general habits and ways to avoid catching fish out of season or spawning. This would be great for the future of our fisheries. What are other people's opinions on this? Thanks. Dan
