No matter what kind of leader you make,you should always test them ,before using.I use barbell weights. fifty pounds for musky and forty pounds for pike. You might be surprised. I tested some store bought ones rated sixty and they pulled apart at twenty-two pounds. I would use a scale for testing because when a leader breaks at a very high pressure the scale slams shut very hard and will blow apart. Good fishing

We went to Nipigon last August to Pike fish.The main lake was still too warm for Pike in the bay and we did not feel confident to travel very far out on the main lake.walleye fishing on the river by the camp was very good.We fished a back lake,with the owners boat.This was a very nice lake for both pike and eyes. The owner has two large boats for charters.The cabin we stwyed in was outstanding.I have made over thirty trips over forty-three years and this was the nicest cabin I have ever stayed in.The owners and his father are very good honest people and very enjoyable to be around.We are going back this year early June.For us it is 1260 miles one way. I used the spouts like Lew but I glued them togather so I could lift all, out at one time to take them out of my boat.The best glue to use is PVC pipe cement and use loots of it.I wish I had done this before I bought two large musky boxs which sent in the basement now.

K.B. You may want to try the unsented soaps,shampos and deodorants sold for Deer hunters.I bought mine at Gander Mt.and it seemed to help on my last fly in trip.Also be sure to take coils for in the cabin.I am sure you will have a good trip.Mark is great at his job.

The Johnson silver minnow is best spoon for getting right up in the weeds.Gold for stained water,silver for clear water and a five of diamonds for very bright sunny days.Another very good spoon is the four and one half inch Dr.Spoon,same colors as johnsons.Crank baits by Crane.206 and 207 are very good in walleye or sucker colors."Good Fishing"

The 4600 C is an excellent reel. I have used two of them for several years,for large pike and they have worked great.They are just as stong as the 5000 and 6000 series reels,they just have a smaller line capacity.The gears,drag and anti reverse are the same in all the Ambassadeur reels.Great reels, I have used them for thirty years."Good Fishing"

Aron, be aware that Esnagami Lake can be accsessed by land,much cheaper than flyin.It always bothers me to fly in to a place and then find out that there is road access.An example a few years ago we paid $750us to fly in gouin resevoir in Quebec to meet folks that boated in.staying 300yards from us for $325.

Last time we fished there it was our best day of musky fishing ever and there was no one there but us.

Buy the $99.00 rod.It will be a good rod to start with.U it a while and then decide what you want next. You will need at least three rods to fish the many styles of musky baits but this rod will get you started and is of very good quality.It will last for ever.musky fishing is a very expensive sport so be ready to sheel out some bucks if you are going to persue it.
