  1. Thanks for all the replies. A neighbor is pushing for the upper French river. Maybe Lunge Lodge. Anyone have experience there.
  2. Does anyone have a suggestion for a lodge within a 5 to 6 hour drive from Toronto to do some early October Pike fishing? We have never fished eastern Ontario this late in the season. I assume the pike will be somewhat shallow. Not sure what to expect, or what areas to explore. Any advice would be very appreciated.
  3. Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. I assume the walleye are fairly deep this time of year. Maybe start looking for weed lines in 15 to 25 feet?
  4. After multiple recommendations we’re going to Memquisit Lodge on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing on August 24. We’ll be targeting musky, and doing some bass and walleye fishing. Any tips on areas to focus on and techniques would be very appreciated. It looks like a lot of water to cover in four days. Thanks
  5. I'm looking for a new reel that I can use for smaller Musky lures like #5 and #6 Bucktails. The Musky in my lake seem to prefer smaller Bucktails. Actually, I find a lot do. I caught my PB 51" on LOTW with a #5 Buchertail. I have a Revo Toro Winch 61 with a 4.6:1 ratio that's great for throwing larger baits, but it's a lot of work to keep a spinner moving fast. I'm trying to find something with a maybe a 7:1 ratio that takes up around 35 inches per reel turn. Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. Thanks Lew. I heard that from a number of people. We are looking at a trip to Memquisit Lodge. My son's friend loves it.
  7. Thanks for the input. This gives me some great areas to explore.
  8. After many years of fly-in fishing in western Ontario and trips to LOTWs, I'm getting a little older and looking for drive-in areas in eastern Ontario to explore. We have a place in Minden and I'm hoping to narrow down a few lakes to learn to fish within eight hours (the closer the better). I'm not looking for secret spots, just some general guidance on areas or lakes that have decent walleye, pike, bass and maybe some lake trout fishing. I've heard the Chapleau and Mattagami areas have some good lakes. Any advice is very appreciated.
  9. I trying to find an outfitter or lodge with an air base somewhat close to our home in Haliburton, Ontario. I usually fish northwestern Ontario, but I’m trying to cut down on travel time to the fly-in base. Can anyone recommend a place in eastern Ontario or Quebec that we could get to in less than 6 hours? We fish northern, walleye and trout. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hey Iggy, I've been looking at Lac Dumoine for awhile and may go this year. Do you stay at 10 Mile Lodge? It's not on Lac Dumoine, correct? Have you stayed Dumoine Lake cottages? Which do you recommend? Do you fish 10 Mile Lake for Lake Trout? Any information is very appreciated. Thanks
  11. Never been to Massassauga PP and would like to try it in my kayak this spring. I would be day fishing so not getting to far into the park. Would you recommend launching at Pete's Place, or the Park on Three Legged Lake. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  12. On this same topic, does anyone know if there is a place to launch a kayak in White Lake. I hear it has some good bass fishing. I checked out the Dam area on White Lake Road and it looks like you could get a kayak in there, but someone put up no parking signs in the only area you could park a truck.
  13. When we were there everyone was dragging bait walkers and worm harnesses. We preferred jigging. Plastics worked, but half a worm was best. Talk to the owner and see what’s working now. We were there first week in July.
  14. Island 10 does give Canadian Dollar prices to us Canadians. You have to call for prices in CAD.
  15. Thanks Moxie! I really appreciate the information. I also received messages that all talked about how great Island 10 and the fishing is. I spent a lot of time researching a drive to lake and it appears I did ok. Will write up a report when I get back.
  16. We booked an early July trip to Island 10. Have not fished Lady Evelyn before. We are mostly interested in smallmouth and walleye. Pike too, but I hear they tend to be small there. We’d appreciate any tips on type of structure, depths and techniques for that time of year. Thanks in advance.
  17. Does anyone know a place to drop n a kayak around Rocky Rapids off 118 east of Matthiasville.? I hear there is decent pike and bass in that section of the river but don’t see any access. Thanks
  18. Hello, I'm looking for a place that's within a 3 hour drive of North Bay where we can fish a main lake and some good back lakes. I'm considering Golden Eagle Camp in Matachewan and Herridge Lake Lodge in Temagami. I've heard good things about both places. Has anyone fished these lately? We're looking for bass, pike and walleye. I would very much appreciate any information, or other suggestions in the general area. Thanks
  19. Didn't go. Might try next summer
  20. Could use some advice. My son and I have a chance to do a fly-in with Ivanhoe next week. I've done numerous fly-ins but never with this outfitter. Reviews are very good. We have option to go to Pebonishewi Lake, or Bonar, Lincoln, Shawmere, Lemoine, or Beattie. Looking at Pebonishewi because it has bass, walleye and pike. Others only walleye and pike. If anyone has fished with Air Ivanhoe and can point us to a good lake from this group we'd really appreciate it. Thanks
  21. I've been fishing Kashagawigamog, Canning and other lakes in the chain for over 20 years. In last few years I've seen a decline in the walleye fishing. I'm wondering if others have seen the same thing. Bass and muskie continue to be good, but all my usual walleye spots have slowed way down or completely dried up. I've heard the gravel in the spawning area up on the drag river in Halliburton is covered in moss and that may be affecting the walleye spawn. If any others who fish the lakes have any thoughts I'd love to hear from you. Maybe a group of us can do something to improve things?
  22. Hi, I'm picking my son up from Guelph and taking him to a summer camp job in Blind River. I don't know the area well and we are looking into a fishing camp to spend a few days in early June. Looking for pike and walleye as bass won't be open. Marten Lake Lodge, Agnew Lake and Island Lake Camp have been recommended. Also looking at Brennan Lodge on North Channel. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
