  1. I tried Holland River last week with no success. However, I was only there for about an hour at most. The trip was mostly to test my new boat on water. But, while I was there, didn't see anyone else catch anything either Which body of water were you at, frozen-fire?
  2. I just called Sunset Cove at Canal Lake. They said the water level is still too low (I am disappointed too). Said you could probably get your boat in, but will be hard to get it out... give it another 2 - 3 weeks. I read on another post that Buckhorn may be good, though.
  3. Really, you think Buckhorn would be open by Friday?? Know anywhere I'd be able to launch my boat there? I was going to head to dunnville for cats, but if Buckhorn is open, I'd consider checking that out too.
  4. I've got my boat out too. Took it to Holland River last week for crappy. Stayed on the water for 2 hours, and got skunked. Mind if I ask where you're planning to go?
  5. Thanks for the info ... was thinking of taking my boat there, but I don't think I'd get a license in time. Plus, as you said, Pike is off-season in Lake O (just realized Lake O is zone 20). Oh well ... I guess I'm heading to Dunnville for catfish
  6. Hi All, I'm thinking about trying for Pike around Leslie Spit/Ashbridges Bay this weekend. I've never tried fishing in Lake Ontario by boat before. I'm assuming from the previous posts that there are public (free) launches at Ashbridges and at Bluffers Park. Does anyone know if you need a special permit/license to fish in that area? Thanks in advance
  7. Believe me, if I had the space on my driveway (which I share w/ my neighbor), I would do that in a heartbeat. This is the reason why I initially bought a car-topper Jon boat - my limited space. Over the winter I decided to eat storage fees and found a good deal on a bass boat... which lead to my predicament. No worries, though, I found a place today to store the boat for a good price, in close range to a number of launches near Balsam. Thanks again for the replies!! Btw, be sure not to underestimate (or mis-underestimate ) how useful Google St View could be. Very handy in finding ads/signage you fleetingly view when driving.
  8. Thanks. I searched Rosedale and got in contact with Fenelon Falls. Their rates are not bad... However, I just thought of a great idea ... use Google St View!! Now I'll be able to see all those signs I usually miss when driving up North.
  9. Thanks for the tip, lew. I have seen those signs when driving to those lakes up North, but never thought to write any numbers down. Now, I have a boat, and I'm kicking myself. I've tried searching the Internet for them too, but I guess they're not online. I guess that's just an excuse to drive up there and fish.
  10. Hi, was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to store a boat near Balsam Lake - preferably South of the lake, along Hwy 35 or Hwy 8. Thanks!
