I picked up a boat, motor and trailer for 380. It is my first boat and I am sure everyone has a story about their first boat. 10. Hello All, I just recently purchased my first boat but it is in desperate need of some refinishing. It is an older 16 ft aluminum with a 9.2 viking. The motor runs great. It has been painted twice in the past, but both layers are falling off and it looks terrible. How do I go about preparing the surface for paint, and what kind of paint, primer should I use? Thanks
  11. Actually I am a landscaper and I was gonna put it to use but it was pretty rotton so I safely released it to fight another day. lol
  12. Just recently I caught a shovel in fast moving water at a lock. It put up one heck of a fight!!! had no idea what it was. It was moving back and fourth in the current and stripping some line. Finally was able to land it. I have also caught a rock while perch fishing. The rock had a small hole in it and the hook went right in it and pulled it to the surface.
  13. Thanks all for the info. I am really looking forward to this trip!! Any other posts would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Hello all. I will be making a trip to Lake Clear with my wife of one week for a pre honeymoon trip. I have no experience with the lake, however I hear the fishing is great at times. If anyone has any tips, tactics, hotspots, lure choice or any other information that would be greatly appreciated. PM me if you want. We will be staying at Opeongo Mountain Resort from July 8-12. Thanks all and great fishing!! Joe
  15. I live in the Kawarthas and with the new regulations I can now fish for these earlier. I have no experience with carp this early in the season. I usually start fishing for them at the end of May, however with the nice weather and new regs I am itchin to get out. I fish for them pretty hard until fall. Has anyone been out for em yet? Could anyone help me with some early season tips on where to find them? Baits? Depth? Thanks all
  16. If you wanna see some real giants, they feed them in the Otonabee river at the zoo in Peterborough. You cant fish there but there are definitly some pushing 50 lb. Mirrors and Commons. I fish the Otonabee a lot and my biggest so far is 30lb.
  17. Catching numbers of fish definitly takes presidence. However if the quality (size) of fish is good, I don't mind catching fewer fish. I have considered the French for sure. What species are in the river? I have fished quite a bit of the Kawarthas, and I would like a change. I dont mind a busier lake as long as the accomidations and fishing is still good. Thanks everyone for your input And yes she does have a sister who does love to fish
  18. I am willing to spend around $500. We will be going end of June, beginning of July. I am an experienced angler fishing at least 150 days a year.
  19. Also we are looking to rent a cabin and a boat. Any outfitter suggestions would be well appreciated
  20. Hello fellow board members, I am fairly new to the board and have made a few posts but this will be the first topic I have ever started. I am sure you guys and gals out there will assist me in a decision. I am getting married on June 26 this year and my fiance wants to go on a fishing trip for four days for our pre honeymoon trip. We are going to go down south but figured we might as well wait for winter to do that. I live in Peterborough and I am willing to drive 6 hours max. I am unsure of where I want to go, but the species I would like to catch are walleye, pike and trout of any kind. Thanks in advance for your input Joe
