You will never win a cup with Dion as one of your front men. It has nothing to do with I like him or not. He's just not that qualified. He was more useful when he played 20-21 mins a game.
-
And you make it sound by shopping Phaneuf and Kadri you get nothing in return. I'm sure it would be surprising to see who teams would be willing to part with.
Trading Gardiner and Liles is never going to be enough to obtain a player of significant ability to help the leafs out. Go big or go home. -
Shop their #1 D man? lol! If anyone is going to be up on the block it will be someone like Gardiner, Liles, etc.. It won't be Dion or Kadri.
He's their "#1 D man", he plays about 6 mins more a game then he should, he becomes a liability. On any other team Phaneuf would not be a leaned on nearly as much, and I'm sure there are many teams that would be interested in him for depth, not a #1 D man. More importantly, his contract is running out and if the leafs resign him its going to be for a ridiculous amount of money, wouldn't be worth it, cripples your rookies.

There are 3 Staals in Carolina, and the leafs definitely do not have enough to offer for E.Staal. I say shop Phaneuf and Kadri around the league.
-
Yea, especially because St. Louis has one of the lowest shots against per game

Everybody squawks about Canpost rates. Why? Without CP look at what you will pay through CanPar, FedEx, Purolator.
Small parcel anywhere in Ontario $8 with Canpost. FedEx charges $14 to the next town 15km away. Is FedEx or Purolator going to deliver a letter for $1??? Privatization just means certain fat cats get fatter at the public's expense
Yeeeeeeeep!

sooo carlyle just said that he disagress about the suspension against phaneuf that miller lost his balanace when dion hit him... not sure what randy was watching
-
oh but that touque is brutal... go habs!
glad you get to have some good family time! I lost all my family years ago, I miss it! -
haha nice report, looks like you had some fun! the crappie in the mouth made me LOL
-
poor performance from the habs defense, if LA drives the night like they did tonight unobstructed, the leafs will be introuble
-
That`s his M.O
That's why he took out Kessel with that big open ice hit!
-
Dion was waiting for him to turn towards the net, he didn't and well that's what happened , lol.
I was assuming the same thing, it looked like Dion was trying to time him turning around, it just didn't happen haha
-
how many games does phaneuf get for that hit? 2-3?
-
Agreed!!! Cold water smallies in the 2lb range are good eaters. Also deep cold water fall largies taste like a big bluegill.... Delicious.
There should be an eat more bass campaign in Ontario.... Lol
I agree, the smaller cold water smallies taste great.
x2, IMO they are better than walleye, but not perch.
They're pretty tastey but better than walleye?! Perch and walleye are bar far the most scrumptious. Makes me wanna take a trip to the Erie Beach Hotel nomnomnom

nice fish, looks like it was worth braving those frigid temps!

I don't like the thought of contact being taken out of kids hockey. When I played, contact started in PeeWee and went on from there. Peewee was what? 12 and up? Taking out of Peewee and even Bantam but allowing it in say Midget is a recipe for disaster. You need to learn how to give and take a hit when you're younger, just like riding a bike. You get those big boys up in Midget that have never hit before and you're going to end up with some serious injuries. I realize this is way off topic, but tb4me hit on a pretty good point. Teach the kids young and it won't be a big deal once they start getting bigger and stronger.
I agree, taking hitting out of minor hockey was a big mistake. When I played we were introduced to checking at 10 years old, and now unless you play rep you'll never be introduced to body checking and kids just get pushed from behind into the boards because they were never taught how to protect themselves in vulnerable areas on the ice because there wasn't supposed to be any body checking. Pretty hard to stop 16 year old boys from mixing it up haha. Anyway, play lacrosse, the sport hasn't been torn apart yet, likely many hockey leagues.

Oh Phaneuf...
-
nice report, looks like you had a good season, congrats!
-
haha, i wonder where that is
-
Careful, anything can happen and Matt will definitely never let you hear the end of it haha
-
haha chris neil is awesome, little pitbull skating around on the ice
-
50 shots against?! even with this win, its a long road ahead..
-
its usually the last 10mins of the game they need to worry about

the parks close at 10pm, and i think the construction is still in the way to go under the QEW

you obviously can't trade up with him but you need to look into the future, realistically there are no moves the leafs can make to make themselves contenders this year, and you move around assests to make that worth it. You don't trade people because they're worthless because you get nothing in return. Unless you want to hold on to someone and left them sell you out like Sundin, or Alfredsson have done.
