  1. I don't see what speeding in your vehicle has to do with this either

If you guys can't and don't see this you're worse off than originally thought!

Like previously mentioned a law is a law whether it be on the road or on the water. Why is okay then for most if not all of you to speed? Are you breaking the law - you sure are.

So why is it okay to do that then and not run rods in excess of the allowed limit?

My point is - a law is a law and there's no way around that. But you tend to break and bend them when it's convenient to you or for self gain.

  2. I have fished with charter boat captains and if they had their way they would prefer to run 3 rods per angler just like in Michigan.

How do you suppose we got to 2 rods on the Great Lakes?

Why is it okay then when a guide runs a rod for himself when he's actually not fishing?

I get it - it's okay then for a customer to BUY a second rod which is essentially what he's doing.

So if I get this straight - it's okay when you're getting paid for it and the money is going in your pocket!

We all know the reason the guide throws out his rod(s) is to increase the odds of hook up so their customer can catch more fish, catching more fish means figuring out the pattern quicker resulting in a happier customer hopefully to generate repear business.

I've yet to see a guide take a rod and start fighting a fish when he's got customers.

Let me ask this - how many of you exceed the speed limit? Is the speed limit not a law?

  3. I am confident if most of you were guides for fish on water where people catch & keep to eat you would be singing a different song.

Here's why - charter captains like that many rods, quicker limit, quicker back to port = reduced fuel expense = more profit per trip. And we've all heard this one before - a happy customer is a satisfied customer which is a return customer right ;) We all love return customers as it brings in more money right ;)

Next I suppose someone's gonna say there's no money in guiding!

  4. The thing is they could be undercover or indians for that matter - nobody knows cause nobody asked or confronted them.

I'm sorry some of you misunderstood me for someone who REALLY cares I was really trying to make a point - that you don't know for sure what the situation is and you're automatically jumping on and labelling these fellas who could very well be innocent or for that matter doing their job!

Question - How would it make you feel to find out if by chance because of all this attention they were assulted or had some personal property damaged?

I'm partially of the opinion that as long as they're within their limit who really cares how many rods they run.

  5. With all that's being said I've been thinking -

Given the cutbacks to the MNR and the lack thereof why don't some of you around here volunteer - here's the chance to put all your knowledge and leadership qualities to good use.

Should have no problem getting someone from the MNR to look into this.

  6. Take the registration number and the picture Gavin and do something about it if you are so concerned :blahblah1::blahblah1::blahblah1: . Call the ministry and give them the link to this website. I posted on the LSC website regarding this practice and received some interesting comments about it.

    Right on qeue buddy!

You mean to say NOBODY here as past on the link already,,,,shame on you ;) What have you been doing the last 8 days :D

  7. Not once did I say 5 rods was okay.

Just merely pointed out there are 3 rods we can't see the tips of so we don't know 100% what they're doing based on the picture. Many seem to be soo focused on the 8 rods not noticing the 3 we can't see the tips of eventhough it's still illegal.

Now, we know there's been cut backs, isn't it also turning a blind eye when you're right there and you've got the power to do something but chose not too? Which brings me to ask another question, was there a cell phone or VHF radio around?

  8. Talka about doing something,,,why didn't someone or the picture taker go over there and tell them it's illegal instead of sitting around and talking about it for 8 days on the internet. Tell them you've got a picture and if they don't stop you'll report'em and you've got pictures as proof.

Why do we have to pin it to sit around and talk about it on the interent for 8 days? Not to mention there's 3 rods in that picture where you can't even be 100% certain that they're all in the water pullin baits - which is my view from the picture which may differ from what was actually seen.

  9. The quality of walleye the area produces are definitely world class and to consistently catch and land 7-14lb walleye is a great fishery. However, their fight is almost non-existant as it's like reeling in a big old wet sweater like Fishdawg stated earlier. You don't go there to talk about the fights you had with big 'eyes but rather to talk about the numbers and consistently large size.

You want good hard fightin' fish come salmon or rainbow fishin' on Lake O or Erie ;)

    Cheers,
