  1. The trailer and tires are originally from 2004, bought new in 2005. I purchased this unit used in June 2008. Put about 7000km on them without any problems untill this recent trip. It's probabley a blessing this happened, I'd have likely blown a tire at highway speed soon due to the age of the tires. I'll replace my tires every 5 years from here on out, since I travel so much, just to be on the safe side. Most axles are prebent a little (in this direction /\ )when viewed from the front, and straighten slightly when loaded.
  2. Any gobies there yet. They pester the nests till the bass are driven off them, then devour all the roe and fry.
  3. Us Burlingtonians used to call that Shell Pier. I'm not sure if it's Petrocan or something else, but I seem to recall that looking at it from the water, it is strictly used for tankers to unload fuel. I don't think there is public access. But I could be wrong .
  4. I could have taken it to an autobody shop and had them put it on a frame straightening rack, but I figured I'd just bend it again and scrub off another set of tires!!! Thanks for posting.
  5. Thanks for the welcome, it's a 2004 BTW. Don't build them like they used to! Hey, when did I become a minnow?
  6. Have you driven some of the donkey trails north of Parry Sound, Ontario lately? You're right though, I need to keep her under 65 .
  7. Hello everyone, My name is Dean, and I'm new to OFC. I Recently returned from a trip to the French River. After 4 hours of highway driving, I parked the boat in the driveway and chocked the wheels. To my dismay I noticed the two inner treads of my tires were nearly scrubbed bald! The Rightside Tire: The Left Tire, not quite as bad: At first I suspected underinflation, but after checking, this was ruled out. I then used a 3 foot level placed vertically to measure how square the rims were to the ground. After carefull measurement I discovered the top edge of my 13" rims were nearly 1/2" in compared to the bottom of the rim on the right side, and 3/8" on the left. The axle bent just outside the U-bolts Turns out my 1000# axle is a little underated for my 16.5 ft. aluminium Tracker with a 50 Merc. I'm sure the speeds I drive at also contributed I'll be upgrading to a 3000# axle for $180, plus 2 new Goodyear Marathons (Made in USA not China). Hopefully this will be the last axle I bend Just thought I would relay my experiences, and advise others their axles may be suspect. Watch the Tracks!!!!
  8. Dirty thieves I feel for you. Not only do you lose the use of the boat, but have the hassle of replacing everything, and dealing with the insurance co. I use a masterlock on the tongue. A huge masterlock and chain wrapped around a 6X6 fence post and the trailer. Own a dog, and a shotgun. If that doesn't slow them down, hopefully this will :
  9. I turn mine to keep the steering cable inside the sleeve, where the grease is. Less exposure to dirt and water. I also use a transom saver, which doesn't hold the motor straight, so I turn it.
  10. Crystal Beach is a good free launch. Tube jigs in green or brown work well for me. Watch the west wind it can kick up pretty fast out there. Also bring an extra pail to put the gobeys in, don't live release them.
  11. Grimsby Tackle. Great selection, staff, and service.
  12. A trip to Nippising can be a G-note for a week easily. I can see, for that price, wanting to have a shore lunch if that's the only fish you caught. I would let it go, and catch a hundred 6" perch .
  13. Hello everyone, I too am heading to fish the wolseley bay area of the french river for the first time Aug.8-15. I'd appreciate any info for bass, walleye, musky, and pike. Like F ast stated I'm not asking for your honey holes, but rather lure, colour, bait and depth choices. I'm hauling my own boat and plan to hire a guide the first day to get a layout of the land. Unfortunately no charts for my GPS in this neck of the woods. Any info would be greatly welcomed.
